We went to Taps last night after we got sick and tired of the tacky tourist traps in downtown Niagara Falls, ON (see another review of 'Kelsey's'--do NOT go there) in search of a change of scenery and some cool, nice quality beers. And we found a little gem right there! My dad and I seated ourselves at the bar and ordered the Charleston Lager/Pilsener and the local white wine. Both were great and the staff were super nice and knowledgeable. We were still digesting a terrible meal we had had earlier, so we didn't feel like eating at all, but after a couple next to us got their food, we changed our minds because it looked so good. We ordered the vegetarian poutine, and boy, it was good! My dad is from Germany, so he isn't used to this kinda food (i.e. lots of grease and everything deep-fried), but he really enjoyed it too. Finally, the card machine went down after we got there and the ATM that is located in the lobby of the brewery was out of money. However, the staff were super flexible if you didn't have cash, so we were able to pay at a later point. 5 stars all around!! Keep doing what you're doing! :-) read more

My brother in law and I visited Taps Brewing Company a few months ago when we were in Niagara Falls. We were staying at the Hilton Fallsview and walked down (approximately 3 miles). It is an easier walk if you walk along the water. Back to the brewery. We only had beers here, no food. The beers were outstanding. The IPA is the one that jumps out at me. Very friendly bartender, and knowledgeable. They also had a beer tower for approximately 30.00 that would discount your pints if you were drinking at least 6 beers in your group. I would definately go back here. The prices were reasonable, the beer was great, and you get to walk and see some of the less touristy parts of Niagara Falls. read more

I'm giving this place a 4 star for the beer, poutine fries and reasonable prices. We had to drive a little to find a place like this that wouldn't break our bank while touring the falls. Wednesday night is .22 cent wing night which normally it's $10 for a 1lb- however many that is lol. The sweet chile was really good and the hot tastes more like medium to us. The wings were not very meaty but I did like the crisp they had. The live music was fun and the vanilla wheat beer was delicious. You can get a pitcher of beer for $12. read more

Service was slow. Beer was good , and the food was ok. A band started around 8pm and were quite loud, so we moved to the patio. People were smoking outside the front door and smoke was blowing onto the patio and it really stunk. I had the pulled pork sandwich. As far as pulled pork sandwiches go I would rate it 3 out of 5. It has a nice sauce and slaw on it, the bun could have been better, and the pulled pork was quite fatty. The French fries were good. Not a bad place to go. We wanted to have dinner in Canada for the novelty of being in Canada. After reading reviews here on Yelp we decided Taps was the place to try. We went on July 2nd and it wasn't crowded at all. We sat out on the patio because it was such a beautiful night out. The patio was a bit busy, and because it is serviced by the bartenders, service was a bit slow, but we were in no hurry. My wife had the beer flight with 4 of their in house brews and I had their Belgian Wit beer which was really good. Our girls ordered the burger, which was a little overcooked for my taste, but was still good. My wife had the Sirloin Steak sandwich with soup, and I had the Pulled Pork sandwich with Caesar Salad. We also ordered a basket of french fries for the table with their beer mayo. While the burgers were a little over cooked, the Sirloin Steak Sandwich and the Pulled Pork sandwich were excellent. They were both served with cole slaw that was fresh and tasty. And the french fries were awesome as was the beer mayo to dip them in. Scrum shish! We came in on a Monday night due to the yelp reviews. We found out there was a nightly feature of $10 for a pint and a burger. I had the seasonal Pumpkin Ale and my husband had the Charleston Lager. They both were pretty good, not the best pumpkin beer I ever had, but still good! I had the veggie burger and he had bacon cheeseburger. We really liked them! Not to mention the classic poutine was awesomeeeee!!!! Our server Ashley, made the experience even better. She was so nice and efficient. Was BEYOND impressed with this place. The service was excellent, despite the fact that it seemed like each server was handling a lot of responsibilities. When we walked in, we figured we'd be waiting forever for our food because it looked like they were short staffed, but they must have everyone in the kitchen because our wings and sandwiches were out in no more than ten minutes. This place got very good reviews so we thought we'd give it a try. I'm glad we did first we tried the Porter beer. It was very smooth and tasty. Then we ordered they're veggie pizza. It was mouth watering I hope we have room for more food after this pizza. If we do I will edit this review. The place is very clean family friendly and the prices are really reasonable. Read that the Taproom was one of the top 20 places top eat in the Falls area. First off, get a reservation or plan on waiting a while. As far as the food is concerned, it was marginal. The poutine was very good, although I don't have much experience in eating it, so I can't compare it to much. I ordered the burger and my wife ordered the pulled pork sandwich. Both came on a ciabatta bun. The bun was way too dry and hard (as you would expect with ciabatta bread) so it was impossible to eat with the burger, which was also dry. We both had to take away the bread to enjoy the contents. We would return but unless they change the bun, I would order something else. The staff was nice and did get us seated quicker than they said they would. The restaurant is off the beaten path of the touristy area, so that is a plus. read more

This was the better of the two breweries I went to in. Niagara Falls. Good live music, wasn't busy at all (went on a Tuesday however) and the bartender here is a super nice, knowledgeable, etc. I also love their beer cocktails (especially the dr. Pepper and all of them are $7). The beer is really good, about 8-10 on tap and about $5.50 a pint (their pumpkin ale is really good, probably the best pumpkin ale I have ever had, taste just like pumpkin pie). This place was really mid and the food kind of sucks. The poutine is way too salty and I got a burger that crumbled apart and didn't resemble meat in the slightest. The waiter didn't ask what temp I wanted my burger and it somehow turned out mushy but burnt. The patty itself was suspicious and tasted like anything but beef. If you're in the Niagara Falls area, I highly recommend checking out Taps Brewing Company. This is a fun relaxed place to grab some good food and good brews. There is plenty of outdoor and indoor seating so bring the whole crew. They've got a wide variety of menu options from salads, wings, burgers, sandwiches, pizza, fish n chips, and of course poutine. There are vegan options available. They also have some gluten free options in the ingredients only, but because they are in a brewery, everything has been in contact with gluten. The drinks here are great - they serve other types of alcohol besides beer. If you're not sure what beer to try, I would suggest just getting the flight here. We had fish n chips, the bacon cheeseburger, and wings. All of which was incredibly delicious! If you're not too concerned about your health, try out some of that fried fish n chips! Yum! The waitresses here are extremely friendly and helpful with lots of personal favorite recommendations! They also have an outdoor patio with a designated section for people with their fur babies. I love how we were able to bring Harry (my fur baby) along with us! We loved this place so much we came back a couple times in the short time we visited Niagara. After a long drive from Detroit, which took longer than expected, nothing sounded better than a cold, Niagara brewed beer! Taps is open late, has a nice patio, and offers a variety of beers, beer cocktails and food. *Crickets* *Crickets* Wow, this place was DEAD. On a Thursday night, even off of the beaten path of Clifton Hill and tourist hell, I expected it to be a little busier. The lack of customers made me paranoid that they were closing up early, but we had no problem being seated or served. The beer and beer cocktails are the highlight of Taps. I enjoyed my Vanilla Wheat beer, and sampled my husband's beer cocktail, the "Dr. Pepper." I don't remember the exact ingredients, but it involved beer, booze, and yes, it tasted just like Dr. Pepper. We made the mistake of our eyes being much, much bigger than our stomachs and ordered the "Piggy Poutine" as an appetizer. We hadn't had "real" poutine prior to this, so the pile of fries, cheese curds, and pulled pork tasted pretty okay. Fast forward a few days, after having authentic poutine, Taps poutine is garbage. The cheese curds didn't have that "squeak," as most of it was completely melted, and the pulled pork on top was too salty and saucy. My burger was underseasoned, overcooked, and I regretted ordering that. As I previously mentioned, it wasn't busy on the night we visited, so most of the staff was milling about, socializing, but nothing too bothersome until one bartender completely lost his shit while talking to others. In an extremely cocky and condescending tone, he belittled others and ranted about whatever he felt like. In the midst of this, he repeatedly dropped the "F" bombs and came off like a middle schooler who thinks he's cool because he sits in the back of the bus and says "F*ck" a lot. The beer and beer cocktails are great, and that is probably what keeps this place open. And that's where my three starts are coming from. I can't recommend the food or the atmosphere. It might be an attractive option to those travelling without children, since the Clifton Hill area is packed. My party ordered the fish and chips (skin still on the fish, pretty bland otherwise), the Reuben, pulled Pork sandwich, and the roast beef poutine. Seems like the type of place that would be on that TV show Bar Rescue and my experience is more along the lines before it got rescued. It is pretty big inside and there are multiple TVs in the place. The strange thing is the TVs were playing Food Network shows, I asked the staff if they could turn it on to a Toronto NBA playoff game that was playing and they informed me they don't get have ESPN or any other sport channel, I was kind of surprised by that but ok. Came here on a Saturday night hoping to escape the over commercialized area by the falls and get a bit more of a local Canadian experience with good food and drinks but I think I missed the mark on that. The food was on caliber of that of a chain restaurant like AppleBees nothing to rave about. I had some traditional poutine which was not bad accompanied with a flight of their beers which was ok as well. I later ordered the fish and chips which was disappointing, the fish was quite flavorless and on a bed of soggy fries. If you a big brewery person than maybe you would enjoy coming here to sample some of the beers but I would not go much further than that. read more

During our stay at Great Wolf Lodge, we decided to check out Taps for lunch to get off the GWL campus. Location is extremely close to the hotel/waterpark...only a 2 min. drive away or even walking distance if anyone wanted to visit, say once the kids are in bed! We arrived around 12:30pm on a Friday afternoon and basically had the place to ourselves. We were a large group (4 families with kids in tow). Our waitress was extremely patient and gracious while dealing with us, which was amazing! Our family ordered the fish and chips ($12), the beer/nacho special (big heaping plate of nachos with a pitcher of beer of our choice - we went with the Sinister Sam) for $15 and a kid's chicken finger meal ($6). Standard pub food with a fabulous selection of local brews! I'd gladly come back if we're in the area and would highly recommend for any GWL guests if they want a change from the resort food. read more

I usually take my family to a brewery when we are on a trip as I find breweries usually have a decent menu and are mostly kid friendly. Plus I love beer and want the fresh local stuff. Taps came through in all ways. We stayed at the Great Wolf Lodge which is less than a 5 minute drive from this place. We came in on a Thursday just before 6pm and lucky for us it was a bit slow, so we got seated right away. My kids were already a bit cranky as they wanted to stay at the lodge to eat, but our server seemed to sense that and started moving us along pretty quickly. For food I got the kids a burger and fingers from the kids menu. They have daily specials which offer a pint and a dinner item together. Today's was $10 for the pulled pork sandwich and a pint. For an extra $1.50 I got a soup with it too. My wife orderd the Porter braised beef ribs and then we got a classic poutine for the table, because when in rome. My pulled pork was probably the least impressive mostly only because it was a sweet barbecue sauce. Everything else was amazing though, kids burger and fingers are homemade style. A hand pressed patty for the burger and more of a southern fried chicken style to the fingers. Then the beef ribs, oh man these were impressive. A nice char crust on outside, but just falling off the bone otherwise. Very tender and juicy, you practically didn't even need to chew them. The poutine was delicious as well and I can see why this is a Canadian staple. For beers we had the Belgian Wit, Blonde, and the IPA. As a homebrewer I wasn't blown away or anything, but they were all good drinkable beers. The atmosphere is more of a bar than a restaurant with a nice patio and open bay doors. Seems they have a stage inside and outside for live music as well. The eating area in the back was fine for my fams though. And prices were relatively cheap. When I find myself in the falls, I'll be back at Taps for sure. read more

Myself and my partner were craving some good beer, whilst holidaying in Niagara Falls. A quick search on Yelp threw up the fine people at Taps Brewing. We did walk from Clifton Hill through a not very nice looking area. There are buses you can take if you prefer. After our walk, we had worked up a thirst and two beer flights at Taps seemed to do it. Our waitress was extremely knowledgeable about the beers and guest ones (was surprised to see Innis & Gunn so far from home!), especially when I asked about vegan friendly beers. She also advised that their vegetable curry was suitable for vegans, however I did not get a chance to taste it :) Their pumpkin brew stood out for me as that's not something that appears on the menu back home in Scotland. This is a very friendly and welcoming place. I was brainstorming ideas for how we could eat poutine, since my husband is on a strict low sodium diet. I asked if they could just use a small amount of gravy, or put it on one half. They made it for us with unsalted fries and gravy on the side! My friend and I were really in the mood for poutine. And they also had local beer so we decided to go and try it out. She ordered the Piggy Poutine and I had the Vegetable Curry Poutine. The pulled pork in the Piggy Poutine was really good, but it could've had more cheese and fries. The Vegetable Curry Poutine was interesting. I like that it was different, but I wish they had vegetarian options that were still closer to traditional poutine. We both also had flights of their beers. Not sure if they were open, a little dark and outdoor tables sort of closed but we finally found and entrance and headed inside. We were greeted by friendly staff and our waitress was awesome! I am writing this review as a one-time visitor from out of town, but since many people who may go to Taps might be someone just like me, I think it's a fair way to go about writing it. Taps was a total disappointment. Their fairly meager beer list featured the usual suspects, a pale, an amber, a wheat, an IPA, etc. Unfortunately they were out of at least two beers, which of course were the ones I wanted to try. I ended up with a basic pale ale that, while unoffensive, was as average as can be. I've brewed better myself, and I'm an average homebrewer. Their prices were fairly high, as well. Well, honestly, beer in Canada seemed expensive wherever I went so these might be average prices. But if you are a brewpub, you aren't paying for distribution or packaging, so what's the deal with charging a ton for your pints? The interior was cavernous and generic, and they had a giant projection of television on the wall. Tacky. The service was fine. If you are going for the beer, I'd say avoid it and deal with the fact that Niagara Falls has really really little to offer beer geeks. read more

We were lucky to find a great place to eat on a Sunday let alone a holiday weekend. We were able to sit in the patio and listen to a bit of jazz before it finished. There were only 2-3 waitstaff for the whole restaurant but they were still attentive. If anything the cooking in the Kitchen took a long time. Not sure if this was because it was Sunday either way the food was amazing. I ordered the fish and chips, the girls spilt a kids chicken tender plate and my husband ordered the bottomless ribs. We loved the fries for sure. The fish batter was tasty but still needed flavor. The ribs were meaty and my husband approved while the chicken tenders had a unique seasoning.
