Man, we really wanted to love this place. We really wanted a killer poutine and a craft beer. We wanted a good bar with delicious food and sweet locals. This place has sweet locals in spades. But the food is just ok, and the beer selection is just mass-produced lagers. In all fairness, we didn't try the wings; we just had a bunch of appetizers. They were all fine, but they were most likely premade, frozen and then fried. The good news: the staff were great. Super friendly and helpful. Also, the bar itself was a cool, divey sports bar vibe. We went during a Monday afternoon, which was probably the best time since we were seeking a "family friendly" lunch spot. There were more than a few day drinkers hanging around the bar and patio, but no one seemed inebriated. To be honest, though, I probably wouldn't bring my kids here on a Friday or Saturday night. It was obvious we weren't locals and even more obvious we were there to eat (not drink), but I did not feel at all uncomfortable or out of place. Our server (a blond barkeep) was super duper nice. She was friendly, pleasant, and chatty. She definitely enhanced our visit! And the food was totally awesome! It was our first time having poutine and I'm not sure it was standard (it had shredded cheese instead of cheese curds) but it was delicious! Like really really really good. The burger was juicy and thick. The fries were totally yummy. Kid #1 said the chicken parm sandwich was good, and I thoroughly enjoyed my Philly cheesesteak. The prices were totally reasonable, too! Review from 7/2023 Well, when you travel, you need to do laundry. No this is not a laundromat, but it is a bar that is right next to one! Wow, drinks and food while waiting for the wash. I could not have had a better time. I even played on the betting machine and won money! Paid for the laundry. The bartender was great and recommended items. The place was fun, and it seemed like a local hangout for many. When I won on the machine, one of the locals stated that you should buy drinks for the bar, so I did! It was a lot of fun and a great place to visit. I am sure that place is jumping on a regular night, as we were there in the afternoon. read more

We decided to grab drinks here after a tasty pho meal next door. The bartender was super-friendly from the get-go. The place was fairly empty on a Sunday night but that seemed par for the course in off-season Niagara Falls. The place is clean with a more upscale (but not fancy) sports bar feel. There are multiple TVs and a large projection screen in the dining area. They have a pool table but regulars had that baby on lockdown during our visit. We started with shots of whiskey. This is the friendliest bar we've ever encountered traveling. We immediately felt like locals and the ambiance was amazing. They have music on Fridays and Saturdays and they invited my friends to sing since they have a local band back home (PTY. They have songs on Apple Music) The food was delicious. We normally don't go places twice when we're on vacation but we went two nights in a row and can see us visiting at least for a drink tonight. The service was amazing! This place is great. We went here 5 years ago while visiting and have talked about it constantly. We finally got to come back and it was just as lovely as we remembered. My second visit to CHL as I will call it now... I tried to go incognito knowing it was setup! The place had a cool Friday vibe ... I was there for one thing the fish and chips! They knew I was coming as I tried to look inconspicuous from my last visit. I put on my acting skills and ordered. On our last episode Cheryl was the barkeep but she brought backup. I was done for she recognized my terrible acting skills.. my Yelp cover was blown. Nice review she says.. I respond with a picture of the bar area.. saying nothing to try an keep my cover for another visit. My girlfriend and I were looking for a cheaper spot around Niagara Falls. Although it was a bit out of the way, it was a very good looking and clean pub. This bar is for locals by locals, be aware that if you're from out of town , they will treat you differently from the local customers. When I go to a bar like this one , my expectations are always low. We were greeted promptly by the only server on duty ( 7pm). We placed our order within 10 min , someone ( I think it was the manager ) dropped off the food without asking if we needed anything else. After 30 min , we decided we were finish , server never stopped by to see if I wanted another beer or my fiancé wanted more water ( both glasses were totally empty ). After server had finished taking shots with the only other table in the entire place , he decided to come back and asked us if we needed anything else. That was the only time he came back to check on us. We asked for the check and I tipped 15% , I work in the restaurant business too and I should have tipped either ZERO or 10%. We ordered fried pickles , Luke's burgers , and Parmesan cheese wings. Everything was extremely greasy , I know bar food is always greasy , but these food was EXTREMELY greasy.
