The service was good! The waitress was very nice and helpful. The ambiance was nice, music going on and fly getting zap ( it was loud zap, which was satisfying). It was kind of a slow night. The food was good, i think the onion was just over cook a little. However it was still crunchy. The mac'n cheese was very good. My regret is not getting that one, however the wings was delicious. It had a good spicy kick and it was sweet. The fish was good, and the burger was really delicious. Overall, it was great food. Went here for dinner on the weekend. We had a hard time finding the door to enter the place, it's actually under the outdoor patio. It's a big place with tables on either side of the bar. A pool table is there too, but the decor is pretty plain. The server greeting was pleasant and told us we could sit anywhere, she immediately provided menus. We ordered a draft beer, all custom beer selections, and the haddock fish and chips. The beer came quickly, but the fish and chips was about a 25 minute wait. When it came, it was hot, with a decent sized piece of haddock. Crunchy on the outside breading but the inside breading was a bit too gooey for me. Lots of potato skin fries were provided with some good tartar sauce. The coleslaw was made with red cabbage, which seemed odd, and some cabbage pieces were too soft and discolored. read more

Most expensive wings order $11 for 8 wings...not jumbo as described and $1.50 extra for blue cheese dip and celery & carrots stick. Caesar salad (small) is good according to my son. My daughter thinks her honey garlic is good. My hot wings are good flavoured but definitely not good value. After 2 orders, my son and I are still hungry, will have some dinner after movie. Ambient is nice while it is under construction. Hopefully they will increase portions as this is one of the closest restaurant in my neighborhood. Best of luck to new owner. Taste is definitely better than other 2 restaurant in the vicinity, not as good as Betty. Far below Blue Star in Welland. Lesson learn check Groupon for menu prices. read more

I will not be back. Service is pretty slow and that's the good part. Burger was over cooked (burnt on the outside) I ate only maybe 3 bites and no offer of replacement was made. soup was sour (waitress removed it from the bill after the cook tasted it) mozzarella sticks were so greasy they left a puddle on the plate. Coffee tasted like it was run through the grounds a second time and the milk for the coffee was chunky. Too many issues to give this place a second try. read more

This is the kind of restaurant we love finding on a Saturday night at 8:30pm with a party of 5. We went there as it was the closest to where we were, and with a 2 hour 30 minute drive ahead of us, let's go somewhere and get it over with. Drove by and it looked okay, but it was busy...I called and asked for a table for 5 and they happened to have a booth. Went in and realized they were taking the times we live in...filled out form...took our temperature...sat us at the table...felt very safe. Drinks orders were taken and delivered quickly. While waiting for drinks, looked around and it looked very comfortable and well spaced and everybody who worked there was masked...etc. Food came quickly and presentation was better than I would have expected...e.g. burgers served on wood boards. Food looked appetizing and was hot...and tasted very good. Nice sized portions...even though none of us had appetizers...we all felt full. Got the bill and felt it was excellent value...5 mains and drinks - 3 alcohol. When we were leaving we spoke to who we think was the owner...noticed him throughout dinner and saw that he was making sure that everything was running smoothly. We could tell from the conversation, that he cared, trying to stay positive and making sure it was a safe environment. Go here...we need more owners like him....support these type of owners or like so many places...It will not survive. I would recommend....just don't judge for the wrong reasons...food was very good...atmosphere was excellent...sever was very good. read more

The Gouda Burger was excellent! The Sweet and Spicy Thai Chicken was good, but extremely spicy! And the vegetables included with it were a little heavy on the ginger. The waitstaff was kind and pleasant, though slightly less attentive than I expected, they never seemed upset when I went to them for service. Clearly some renovations are in progress, it's looking very nice but some of the things that haven't been touched (yet?) could use some updating. read more

Hidden gem! We were in town visiting the falls and we're looking for a quiet place to have a few drinks and quiet meal with the family. The food was absolutely amazing. Our party ordered the poutine and antipasto platter for apps, both awesome! For the mains we had 3 burgers, an open face steak sandwich, and the quesadillas from the app menu. The open face sandwich was by far the best plate on the table, so rich in flavor and perfect portion. The burgers were 1/2 lb, super juicy and great flavor as well. The Quesadilla was a spin on the traditional, it came as 4 mini soft shells. Wish we would have had the mind to take pictures of the food, but it was so good when we took the first bites all we could do was rave to each other about how impressed we were. It was my husbands birthday, and we ordered the double chocolate cake dessert for him. The waitress was so wonderful, she even put a few candles on it for us. Next time we're in the area, we will be making a stop in! read more

Our waitress was very new, but made it up by been very nice !!! We had the Haddock and fries, it really tasted more like tilapia, but the batter was excellent. The Poutine was one of the best I had and the crab cakes while small, were worth it. The locale was been remodeled but it din't deter a bit. I went here with my family for dinner and it was awesome. The wings were nice and crispy. My brother and dad had the fish and chips. The fish was fresh and flavors were great! My mom had the open faced steak sandwich which was amazing. The steak had nice flavors and juice to it. I had the chicken club paninis which was great also. The quality here is top notch. We had creme brulee and Apple cobbler. The creme brulee was so nice and creamy. It's definitely the best creme brulee I've ever had. Get away from the chains and come to Riverside Tavern! Cute and locally owned. Food is fresh and delicious. Our kids shared a pizza and the crust and sauce were obviously homemade. We shared the antipasto appetizer and a salad it was well presented and yummy. Nice to support a local business so close to Niagra Falls and only minutes away from the major hotels. Live music was playing in the square across the street and the river views were beautiful from the patio. Very casual and low key. Enjoy a beer and some good, freshly made food. read more

We found this place accidentally and are glad we did. We're here on business and looking for a local restaurant, not one specializing in tourists. It looks like a neighbourhood bar from outside but there is a very good restaurant inside. The menu is surprisingly large with a wide range of foods to choose from. We had onion soup and roasted garlic soup to start. Both were very good. The onion soup was full of onions, a crouton and cheese. The roasted garlic was a smooth consistency with great flavor. My Caesar salad was just OK. It lacked garlic and anchovies. My wife loved her Kale and arugula salad. Both were large salads with fresh ingredients. Next time we'll go for dinner entrees. They sounded great and based on our experience expect they would be as good on the plate. read more

Love this restaurant. Always very clean and tidy never cold. Owners Beth and Keith are very nice people and will check in with you to make sure your enjoying everything. The bartender Abbie is always friendly and keeps us entertained. But the thing that makes Riverside Tavern the best in town is Chef Paul's amazing food! He is putting out a new menu at the end of March and we can't wait to try everything on it! I have never had a bad experience at the Riverside and we always recommend it to everyone! BF and I ate here for the first time last night. Previous owners did not serve food as I recall, but now there is a Red Seal Chef. Nice variety on the menu - mostly mainstream restaurant selections as opposed to items with snooty ingredients no one can recognize. What sets this food apart is that there is no pre-fab or frozen food here and you can really taste the difference. Even chicken fingers are hand breaded. I had fish and chips. The haddock was moist and delicious, nice crisp thin coating, not over-battered like many places. The fresh made fries were probably the best I've ever had (and I am a huge poutine/fry truck fan so that says a lot!) I asked for malt vinegar but they were so perfectly cooked and salted that I didn't use vinegar at all. Beautiful bar, huge selection of beer, reasonably priced wine. Nice booths on the side with the bar, but restaurant entrance goes through a pool table area that does not befit the atmosphere of the dining area. Pool is always free but I think it would be nicer if diners didn't have to walk through that area. Apparently there is a band on Friday nights so I may check that out. Will definitely be back for the food! read more

Raw burgers served here. I took my parents last evening for dinner. Waited over an hour for our meals. We inquired about the wait time and we're told that they were training new cooks in the kitchen. Not our problem. Food came out after an hour and 15 minutes later. Burgers were raw...not cooked at all. They were sent back to the kitchen. When it returned...it was the same burger that they attempted to re cook...it was all mangled and still uncooked. We could still not eat it. The server hid in the kitchen so she did not need to deal with us. Manager made excuses as to why the meals were like this...staffing issues...cuts of meat etc...terrible experience...we will never go back...meals were compted...thank god...we left hungry and very disappointed... read more

Myself and my husband stopped in for a Sunday evening meal the Sunday before Labour Day after trying to avoid the Niagara Falls crowd. This restaurant is a gem. The food selection was great and served fresh. The waitress was very pleasant and efficient. The view of the river is beautiful. I would certainly recommend them to everyone read more
