On this day I was coming home from San Antonio and got a craving for some Mexican food. But coming down the I10 didn't see any good options tell I remembered about "Taqueria Allande". It's a bit hidden in a tire shop area, but don't let the surroundings appearance miss guide you. Because this place is a gem, the moment you enter you feel at home, and you can see a good amount of seating. But the most important thing to remember is the food. The food here is very well made, a home cooked meal is what you feel upon eating. I ordered the "Tampiqueña" and believe it was cooked just right. The dish came with a cheese enchilada, rice and beans which were equally delicious. You can't go wrong with this place. And what makes even more special is the people who work there, the most amazing and kind individuals. I highly recommend this place. read more

The food, service and ambiance were all superb. We were greeted so well as soon as we walked in. The staff let us sit anywhere and the tables/seats were very clean. Honestly wanted to order 1 of everything. I got the Mole enchilada plate which was so good. I had them use queso fresco for cheese. The mole wasn't too sweet which I appreciated. It came with beans and rice which tastes fresh! My partner got the Texas plate and the meat was so tender and delicious. He also raved about it. I highly recommend coming here for good Mexican food. We wanted to try something new and that wasn't too far from us so of course I came to yelp for suggestions and found this little place. The service was a little slow but not bad once it got going the people were very friendly. It's not a very big place, so not ideal for huge parties but enough space for a good little crowd. The food was good. I wouldn't say that it's out of this world, but it was very tasty. It had flavor didn't require a lot of salt. The downfall is how they seem to add charges. Don't let you know for example we asked for a sweet tea and she asked if we wanted to go cup we said yes and then by the time we got our ticket there was a charge for it. Then of course like many other places they charge you the service fee which I know a lot of places do but typically we are informed so After a couple of charges here and there our brunch for two came out to like 35 with a tip, which was in my opinion, a little too expensive for what we ate, but overall not a bad place wouldn't come here too often, but I can't say that I wouldn't come here ever again either. read more

Moved out here about a year ago and never knew there was a restaurant by the tire shop. So glad I found it. Super friendly staff and the BEST Mexican food. This place is phenomenal. It's a restaurant located beside the tire shop you will miss it if you don't look for it. They're open from 6 AM to three Monday through Saturday closed on Sunday. First the restaurant is spotless, the service is outstanding but the food is the real stand out here I've said it before and I'll say it again if you're charging more than eight dollars for plate that consist of 2 enchiladas, a taco, rice and beans. This establishment gets it right on all points. The enchiladas were delicious, the taco meat, some the best I've ever had. This spot off the highway is TRULY fantastic. When i walked in the door, outside there was a CLEAN MOP bucket that smelled amazing, and the entire restaurant is so clean, so kept up, and smelled like fabuloso. I loved it here, the service was amazing & our male server was fantastic. This is truly one of the best places i've eaten at in San Antonio. With my own two eyes I saw the server taking apart the lemonade machine and thoroughly cleaning it out, unlike most places that skip over the little steps and don't take pride in their work. My lunch was just okay, but my boyfriend had a really good Milanese! Super yummy! Surprisingly, inside this small storefront appearance was a diner/restaurant type setting. It looked like a real local favorite because the place was packed and bustling for it's size. I would say the food and portion was good for the price, and the setting was a comfortable family atmosphere. The salsa was tasty, but not the more fresh taste I prefer. The biggest disappointment was the tortillas that were slightly rubbery. We concluded they must have been store bought. Also, they didn't serve beer, but said they were working on it. The waiter forgot about us, and we watched as several people were served ahead of us, but that's okay. It happens. Great if it's down the road from your home, and you just don't want to cook, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat there.(Except if you're craving the milanese.) However! Awesome menu and reasonably priced. Most meals are about $10. I passed by this place multiple times on the highway. My wife and I now have a new favorite Mexican restaurant. The only thing that would make it better is alcohol. Being in the liquor building about 25 years ago tells me the liquor license costs is extremely high. At first sight it doesn't look like much but in my experience those places tend to have the best food so we tried it anyway. We were not disappointed! I had the mini tacos el pastor and they were delicious. My husband tried a variety of breakfast tacos and he enjoyed his meal as well. The food was reasonably priced (we had 9 tacos and 2 drinks for a little more than $20). The restaurant and restroom was clean and the server was friendly. This used to be Mirta's tacos. The food is great and prices are reasonable. Service is excellent. I had the Mexican plate which consists of rice, refried beans, 2 cheese enchiladas and a crispy beef taco. I have one little nitpick. They put my taco on top of my enchiladas which made it messy to eat. Be prepared to lick the enchilada sauce off your fingers because you don't want to miss a drop! read more
