FYI: THE CHIPS ARE FREE!! Do not pay for them. You may have to pay for your cheese/dip, etc, but the chips are free. And make sure they don't charge you $3 for a bag when you're eating in. I was charged $3 for a chip bad that I never asked for. BUT, they also gave me a receipt for reimbursement. Okay.....the food was good. The atmosphere was cool. This location is the best and most convenient to stop in or drive in to get you some really tasty and affordable Mexican food. I still stop here when I head back home to Austin after visiting San Antonio. This location, if I am not mistaken, could be 24/7. I know I have stopped here even on Christmas Day and they were open and serving food! I always drive thru and pickup at least a half a dozen of bean and cheese tacos to bring back home. The service, in the drive-thru, is always quick and easy to get in and out. They have double lanes in the drive thru so be sure to utilize both especially if one is already occupied. Inside is always welcoming too with plenty of seating and you also get an opportunity to eat your heart out on all the free chips and salsa they have. Music is always considerately good as we can have a conversation with each other without yelling at one another. Staff is consistently checking in on us too which I appreciate. Shoutout to the homemade lemonade too! Its always consistently great! read more

Good was fast and good. Margarita was not good at all. My brother had the chorizo plate and said it was flavorful and filling. Our friend had the ranchero plate, which he also enjoyed. My potato, egg and cheese breakfast tacos were not greasy at all, which I appreciate. The best part of the meal for everyone was that the tortillas were freshly made. Better than Taco C's tortillas and food! Second best part was the fact that the point of sale system here does not automatically ask you to tip for counter service! Poor service. I pull up to the drive thru, kindly ask for a moment to get my order together(no one else is there). I then say, "excuse me ma'am" 3x with no response back. Another car pulls in and immediately gets welcomed. I patiently wait, they then go on to take a second cars order. Just totally forgetting about me. I find that bs, disrespectful, and just careless. be careful going with allergies!!! every single time I go through the drive thru it's a different problem from missing items to completely wrong orders. I came here last month and I was pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness and how good the food was. From the outside there weren't too many cars and there are plenty of places to sit inside. Open 24 hours. Huge servings! Definitely shareable! They serve alcohol!!! Lots of tables. Service was fast & friendly. Grab your own tortilla chips & salsa type of place. Perfect for after the wedding to get some grub; we were still in our formal-wear! So fun!! read more

Worst Tex Mex I've ever had, carne guisada was extremely salty and somehow dry. I found a hair in my cheese enchiladas. Service is lacking, the person who gave me my food in the drive through gave me a nasty look when I asked where my salsa was (I specifically asked for extra and they gave me none!) and then practically threw the bag through my window. Didn't go inside, but the ambiance-from what I could tell at least, was cold and sterile. It's clear to me that this is a dying restaurant, don't waste your time and money. I'd rather eat a 7-11 breakfast taco than this garbage. I feel bad for the owners, I hope they're doing alright. I wouldn't be surprised if this restaurant was closed by march. read more

I've driven past Mama Margie's 1000 times, but today was the day I ate there. It was...okay. The food is adequate. I got the chicken quesadilla, my sister got breakfast tacos, and our friend got the enchilada plate. There was only 1 other family inside, but the drive-thru had a long-ish line at 10am on a Friday. We ordered at the counter and waited for our food to be ready. I liked my chicken quesadilla. I was surprised to see it had dark meat, but it was juicy and flavorful. The salsa bar is nice, but none of the salsas had much flavor at all, which was a disappointment. The restaurant was very clean, and the 2 employees I spoke to were friendly and helpful. Mama Marggie's always has the best chips! With their self service chip station and warm salsa delicious! I ordered one Bean and cheese, and one guacamole taco on a corn tortilla. The corn tortillas are made in house fresh they were very good. This restaurant it's always clean and well lit. They also have very clean restrooms. read more

The food here is way overpriced, with tacos costing $8 each. On top of that, the presentation isn't appetizing at all, and you're expected to do everything yourself when it comes to toppings and serving. For the price and effort, it really doesn't feel worth the trip. read more

The service and the food are the reasons I keep coming back. The chips and salsa are delicious, as is the amazing chorizo plate. Extremely flavorful and always fresh and warm. The atmosphere and decor are very welcoming, and as stated previously, the service was great. Specifically the cute curly haired busboy. He's extremely polite and friendly every time we see him! I haven't been here in a couple years and you can definitely tell that the service and food quality has gone down hill. I'm not sure if they are under new management but they got to get it together respectfully. I went there Saturday to get nachos not only did it take a couple try's to get my order right through the drive-through. When I got home it looked good. However most chips tasted stale and the ration of the toppings to chips didn't seem to even out. I woke up the next morning feeling sick to my stomach and VIOLENTLY THREW UP EVERYTHING. All visits in the past have been pretty good. Today was NOT THE CASE ! We usually come here from New Braunfels for breakfast but NEVER EVER AGAIN. When ordering breakfast we ordered a country sausage egg and cheese with diced fresh jalapeño. Nope, we were told they have WHOLE jalapeños at the salsa bar that we could chop and add ourselves. Ummmm Ok? We ordered a chorizo and bean taco....remember Wendy's old slogan....."where's the beef" today was "where's the chorizo" - see pic below, it speaks for itself We ordered bacon egg and cheese tacos - average at best. Bacon was limp and greasy Final complaint and icing on the cake: we ordered chips since they are only free after 11. (Not a problem) when they asked me if I wanted a small or large, I asked if they could show me the difference to allow myself to not over order....they said No! Small or Large..... I'm done. After spending a bunch of time at the Audi dealership I was famished. Swung by Mama Margie's because my wife's name is Margie. Lol It was clean and the service was fast. This is more of a fast food experience like Taco Cabana than a restaurant. Everything was good though. I had the crispy taco plate and I also liked the roasted salsa that was warmed in a pot. My wife had a margarita and she said it was good. She also had chicken enchiladas but she wished that it was cheesier. We probably won't come here again but we are glad that we checked it out. read more

I thought San Antonio or southern Texas would have good Mexican food. I am from Arizona & grew up eating authentic Mexican food. I have never been here before so thought it was a cool name and wanted to give them a try. Sadly, This place does not offer authentic Mexican food. It's more of a fast food place....they even have a drive tru :-) which I didn't realize until I sat down. As for the food....cheese quesa was okay but cheese was only partially melted which sucked. They give you sour cream and guacamole in a small taco bowl but they put lettuce on the bottom to make you think you have a good serving :-) but it's not very much. The cheese enchiladas came with rice and beans. These cheese was not melted in these either. The enchilada sauce is kind of sweet, not something I cared for. The beans were canned beans...yuk. My friend liked the rice. He had the beef quisada which look like red beef Chile to me. He said the meat was tender and actually pretty good. Now for the service....I don't expect much for service these days. Not sure what happened to customer service, but I wish people could just say hi when you walk up to order. The cashier clearly did not want to be there and I have not much more to say other than don't expect much for service here (they had plenty of workers, just not very friendly, maybe they are just shy...who knows). The bad: didn't try the lunch options but the breakfast was yummy. This is a great neighborhood place to go. Food is fresh and very tasty. My new favorite is the Beef fajita platter. Meat is tender and flavorful. You order and pay first then they call your number when ready. Self service chips and variety of salsa and condiments. Place is always busy during peak hours. Had great bacon and egg tacos--bacon was thick cut and cooked perfectly not too wimpy and not too well done but crisp, and eggs were buttery and delicious. Barbacoa taco Was a little greasy but fabulously delicious. The bean and cheese tacos were amply balanced with beans and cheese. Tortillas were warm and soft and very well made to enhance flavors of ingredients . Lemonade was tart and sweet and very refreshing. read more
