They offer a military discount; although, unfortunately was not made aware until after my payment went through, even though was still waiting on my order, (sidebar: my payment had literally just gone through, although it had been finalized), and unfortunately the restaurant did not honor their 10% military discount. Not sure how to feel about this, considering payment had already been completed, but I still feel like they could have easily cancelled my payment & simply recharged me, especially since my order was more than $65. Although part of me feels like that's EXACTLY why they chose not to honor it, which is a shame, in my opinion. Cute spot, very clean, and friendly employees. We came for dinner and felt like the prices were fair. We ordered two barbacoa burritos, one Barbacoa plate, and one beef fajita burrito. The barbacoa was delicious, the beef fajita meat was good but not great. The chips and salsa were warm and yummy. So, this is my second visit to this restaurant. The staff is friendly and the cheese enchiladas are so good. I tried the beef fajitas this time and they were tasty. The only reason I'm not giving this visit five stars is because the menu said the enchiladas were $2.75 but we were charged $11. That was outrageous. Obviously we didn't get the plate with the rice, beans and salad with it. So, essentially we bought four plates for two people! We may never go back again due to this. read more

We love this tacqueria for so many reasons. The food is authentic TexMex, and always delicious. Pozole and menudo are available all times of day. The tortillas are made fresh, in-house every day, and just like mom made. The serving staff hustles to keep the restaurant clean and tables ready for customers. They are universally friendly and service oriented. The dining area, while not fancy, is pretty much what one expects at a better neighborhood tacqueria. Been eating here since 2018, price changes aside their breakfast tacos never miss which is what i always go for. Free chips and salsa are a great plus everytime with friendly waitresses. The atmosphere is nice and clean. I have heard from people i've gone with that the normal meals can be a bit lacking though. This what I would call a hole in the wall is a local favorite. We have been coming here for a while when they had mariachis on Sunday. This was before Covid, now they don't have them but it was still amazing to be there. I had the two eggs and pancake plate. It was amazing. I added some salsa to the eggs potatoes and bacon. Did I fat kid myself and make a pancake taco? Maybe. Should you judge me for it. Yeah. My dad had the huevos nortenos. And he loves it. This is the place where he gets his barbacoa. We added some pico de gallo and it was perfect. The waitstaff was super quick with our order. Even the hostess was helping out where she could. A great time was had by all. The ambiance was good, it was calming and like tex-mex style. Service was okay, the server was really nice and welcoming the only con I can see was that it took a bit long for out food to be served. Grabbed breakfast with my family here on the weekend. I believe the management has changed in the last few years, but the staff is amazing. So I've been going here for breakfast for quite some time. The food is amazing. But the cooks can't read apparently. I would call in for my taco order. And they would frequently forget to put cheese on my tacos. The last time I ordered a bean and cheese with bacon. Charged .81 cents for bacon. It was missing the bacon and cold. That was it for me. I will probably go in and eat sometime soon but I won't get anything to go. read more

Simply amazing and authentic Mexican food! I was craving Mexican food for a late lunch so me and my husband decided to give this place a try. The inside is simple with plenty of seating and the staff were friendly. We were hungry and both ordered the al pastor plates. While we waited we enjoyed munching on the chips and fresh salsa. Our plates came pretty quick and were large portions of roasted pork, rice, nopales, and beans. We were also given fresh, hot tortillas to go along with the meal. The pork was tender and super flavorful. The nopales were delicious and balanced out the pork well. The rice and beans were both super flavorful and I enjoyed having the different flavors all in one meal. I loved that the plate also had onion, cilantro, lettuce, and avocado for us to take tacos with the pork. The green salsa served with the meal was delicious and quite spicy. We enjoyed every bite and finished the meal so full. The plates were only a little over $10 each (with military discount) which was amazing! 10/10 we will be back! read more

Keep a mental note of what the total is without tax and compare that to what they charged. This place reminded me of the many Mexican restaurants located on the South side of San Antonio which has one of the best in town. This is a no frills Mexican food spot. No complains about the food or the service. My only concern was the fact that my legs were literally stuck to the wood booth seats when I tried to get up. My sister said her clothing was stuck to the chair as well. Wood gets tacky when it accumulates dirt, grime, food stuff on it. Food is cheap. The lemonade is good. The food isn't bad either. Also, many restaurants in the area serve ALL TYPES of customers and can keep their restaurants spotless. This has nothing to do with students or military, of which my husband serves. The owner just took an opportunity here to advertise their app and not truly address the issues. * We visited last week for an early dinner,1730, and were the only table in the restaurant. Upon entering I was skeptical but sometimes those hole in the wall places are the best. We chose to sit in a booth and they were DIRRRRRRTY. Crumbs and dust all in them. Seeing as we were the only people in there that means there was plenty of time for cleaning. The women's bathroom is also very dirty. The border on the floor is peeled off the wall a few feet and looks molded. This will be the reason why we don't return. If the dining and bathroom isn't clean lord knows what the kitchen looked like. Our server wasn't attentive. I asked for a refill on chips and salsa. After ten minutes I finally went up to the counter and asked someone else for a refill. I don't understand why it took so long to get a refill with us being the only customers. Anywho, I got the basic tacos with beans. Let me tell you their bean "soup" was AMAZING! I was expecting my beans to be a side of refried beans but it turned out to be an amazing soup. I would order that to-go for sure. The tacos were bland. Wouldn't order again. My husband ordered the beef enchiladas and loved them. Salsa was ok wish it were spicier. Overall it was ok. When in doubt, order up some bean and cheese tacos. They're delicious, and super cheap. And their tortillas are pretty damn good, way better than Taco Cabana's or any other chain restaurant's. Two and done; El Jalisco Mexican Restaurant #2 by papa John 3009, Schertz I don't go out for breakfast that often just the occasional one or two tacos will fill me up, or even just a McDonald's sausage and egg biscuit with multiple cups of coffee. I wanted to keep it around $6, and usually I love the pancake breakfast plate with the two huge applewood-smoked pieces of bacon at the other Jalisco's on 78, but I had this Vision that I wanted real good coffee and super flavorful and spicy real Jalisco's style food, so I opted for this place knowing I've been here once before to get a Carne taco and I knew they made strong Folgers coffee. The coffee was about the best part of my meal and the service of course. They kept feeling my coffee off about every 5 minutes whether I ask for it or not. These gals are excellent... I ordered huevos rancheros with a pork chop because I wanted a little meat. The pork chop had great flavor but was overdone and dry. The beans were well pureed but flavorless. The eggs ordered sunny side up came out nearly Raw with complete runny whites, not even partially cooked. I know it's hard to cook a sunny side up egg but it looks so nice. Las Palapas does a great job. I should have ordered over easy. That way they would have been cooked partially the whites. The potatoes were done well but bland. The ranchero sauce was watery and Bland. The salsa was good and well pureed but zero spice. My bill was $10.45. had I knew I was going to spend over 7 I would have opted to go to Grumpy's for the first time which I wanted to and spend in the same price range for huge portions. For real non gringo appeased spicy, seasoned Mexican food I was hoping not to have to go to Nacogdoches Road and find a consistent place around Cibolo Schertz or Seguin. This place here reminds me of another Garcia's. I'm going to have to do a poll one day or maybe Mary can tell me where the good authentic stuff is within a 5-mile radius of Schertz. read more

Finally a place my family and I enjoyed. We were all craving street tacos. Let me tell you... So good, I've been craving them since we left. They even make the refried beans the way I love and their tortilla chips were so good. The service was quick and accommodating to us, especially considering we knew what we wanted and they have a good size menu. The restaurant is clean and busy which is a sure sign of a successful delicious restaurant. The decor was so cute and peaceful enough to hear ourselves.
