    CHICKEN TAQUITOS

this place was 10/10 no notes. frozen margarita ($12) was so good!!! Their Pitcher option for regular margarita would be amazing for a gno. I came here for dinner so not sure of any happy hour deals. We did outdoor seating since its summer and they decorated it cute! No issues getting a table without a reservation on a Friday night. For appetizers we started with chicken taquitos and the CHICKEN TINGA NACHOS wow those were loaded up and came in hot. Couldn't even see the chips at the bottom it was so good. The al pastor tacos ($15) were also amazing. Filling was delicious and big portion. I do wish they doubled up on the tortilla though. Really good mexican food in manayunk pa. Would definitely recommend, especially in the summer for their frozen margs and outdoor seating.

The food was DELICIOUS - especially the sweet plantains. Service & ambience were great. Will definitely be back.

How have I never written a review of the Taqueria?? This has been another one of my go-to places in Manayunk for over 10 years! Love taking visitors here too! I don't think I've ever had anything I didn't love from Taqueria! I typically get some sort of tacos and am also a huge fan of their elote and queso fundido! I love that they offer the taco bowl options because I will typically get that if I'm doing delivery, but will do taco tacos if I'm dining in. Their drink list is always phenomenal, the Three Chili Marg is my favorite marg in all of Philly! They do super fun popups all the time with special food and drink menus. I love that they always have something new and fun going on! Recently went to the Beetlejuice popup and Senor Grinch is always a MUST STOP during the holiday season! I do miss some of the offerings that they used to have when they were Feliz (chicken skin tacoooossss!!) and my one wish is that they offered tacos by the singles so you can mix and match. But this is def one of the best neighborhood Yunk establishments there is!

TRADITIONAL NACHOS DE LA CASA | BLACK BEAN SOUP | MEXICAN STREET CORN "ESQUITES"

As you can see from the photos, we devoured our food. We got the nachos, black bean soup, and street corn. I'd recommend every single one of these! This was my first time eating inside and I was blown away by the decor. They have lights, fun trinkets, and a projector playing Christmas movie clips. I think it's worth it to try and go before all the holiday decor is taken down. I took a star off since this place is quite pricy. These nachos are huge, but the entrees are, in my opinion, too expensive for their size. And if you plan to drink, be prepared to pay premium prices. We decided to share appetizers to save some money this time and I think that's the way to go to not drop $50+ on a meal for two.

Came for an impromptu dinner & glad we did! I had the taco bowl, which came on a bed of rice and it was delicious! The flavors were hitting & the portion was so big that I ate about half the serving and it still didn't make a dent in the bowl. I like that they have a number of non-alcoholic options available, even for their seasonal drinks. They will have the Halloween decorations up through the holiday and then switch over to Christmas decorations in mid-November.

I decided to come here with friends to see their Beetlejuice Halloween decorations and get some food and drinks. Drinks were pretty decent. I got a passion fruit frozen margarita which I was excited about. Another place I went to before always had it on the menu but never actually had it. It was good. We had some other specialty Halloween drinks too which were good as well. I got the seafood enchilada as my meal which I enjoyed. I'm iffy about ordering seafood items at Mexican restaurants because sometimes they're too fishy tasting or it doesn't go together well with the toppings. This was good though, had nice chucks of seafood, it tasted fresh , didn't have that nasty filler in it that places sometimes use. The sauce on top was good too. I liked my husband's barria tacos was well. The Mexican street corn was good but a little on the spicy side for me. I'm considering coming back for Christmas for their grinch theme because I love The Grinch. Maybe we will if they offer new or seasonal items .

Love this place. Friendly staff, food fresh and seasoned well. I don't fancy the street corn but their best item is grilled fish tacos, delicious! Don't forgot a good cocktail from the bar, preferably seasonal. They get really creative

Wonderful customer service, clean and well decorated restaurant! The margaritas are very tasty! The food itself was a little underwhelming, salad was fresh and crisp but their salad dressed just tasted like canned chipotle adobe sauce poured on lettuce. Tortillas were good but the beef was a little over cooked. I've heard amazing things so I was hoping for more complexity in the food and depth of flavor. Would go for drinks again!

Stopped in last night to have dinner for my 12 year old's birthday. The staff were friendly and helpful. This is one of the most festive and creatively decorated restaurants I've seen in quite some time, possibly ever. We were a party of 4 and were seated as soon as our 4th arrived. There were so many festive drinks on the menu! The mule was good, but a little on the sweet side. We got the taquitos, steak bowl, brisket bowl, chicken tinga bowl, and tres leches cake. Everything was flavorful and the portions were decent. Taqueria Amor happens to be a stop on the Jolly Trolley, so we hopped on there afterwards for a ride.

I wound up back in town for a small music festival at Venice Island, and this was the first place I came to. I ordered a shrimp quesadilla and a side of esquites, as well as a couple drinks. Both the quesadilla and esquites were larger than I thought they'd be. Usually when I order a side of esquites, it's only a few spoonfuls worth, but this was a fairly large bowl. Very good, though. It was cheesy and creamy and sweet with just a little spice. A good balance of flavors, and I really enjoyed it. The shrimp quesadilla was also really good. Lots of shrimp and a good amount of cheese. The habanero crema was a *little* too spicy for me, but it was good, too. The only downside to the food was that I couldn't finish it all and wasn't able to take the leftovers with me since I was heading to the festival right after, but I'm sure they would have been really good leftovers if I had been able to take them with! The drinks were also tasty. I got the mango habenero margarita and the spinarita (sangria and frozen margarita swirl. I didn't think the mango habenero margarita had much of a kick, but it *was* good. And the spinarita was delicious - I liked the blanace of the sweetness of the sangria and the sourness of the margarita. Outside of the food/drinks, service was once again top notch. My server (I believe he said his name was Peter) was very attentive and checked in the perfect amount. The rest of the staff was very friendly, too. Overall, I really enjoy Taqueria Amor, and I highly recommend it. If I were a local, this would for sure be one of my go-to spots!

Tacos were mediocre at best. They were wet and frankly lacked much flavor. Service was good, not great. The place was ridiculously loud with a weird disco vibe music playing. And the kicker was their mandatory 20% service charge to ensure their employees "are fairly compensated"?!? Pay your employees! Tips and determined by the customer based on service provided. I never return and recommend you don't either.

I was genuinely impressed with this restaurant. My friend has Celiac and we heard really positive things about how accommodating this place is. While ordering, our server knew exactly what on the menu could be made gluten-free and made it a point to make sure she knew my order was also gluten-free if she wanted to try it. I got the enchilada with verde sauce and it was great! The service was 10/10. It was bustling in there, but they got our food out pretty fast. It was a really fun environment! I'd definitely come again.

I had a wonderful day here at taco Tuesday! It's $3 off all tacos and enchiladas on Tuesdays. The ambiance there is really nice. I love the eclectic style! The service was impeccable. The food was pretty good my favorite dish was the plantains they were delicious

The meat in the tacos was so dry that it was hard to chew and swallow. Some of the pieces were cooked to a crisp. No amount of salsa could make them better. I'm sorry I didn't take photos of the tacos, but trust me me I get no pleasure from leaving a bad review for this place; I am not lying or exaggerating. I thought they were going to be one of our local gems. I choked down a half a taco, gave the rest to my husband and he couldn't eat them either. The churros actually had raw batter in the middle and the outside was rubbery and hard at the same time. You could barely bite through it. I'm a cook and I know that that is about keeping the oil at an even temperature to get the inside done and not overcook the outside. Someone in the kitchen did not know what they were doing. The thing is, I have had their food before and it was pretty good. I don't know if there is a new chef or what happened, but I can't trust them after this experience.

Honestly El Rey is great!…read more As a Los Angeles native, Mexican food is always a "not as good as California" affair, and with that bar, it's hard to find anything that holds a candle. But El Rey is good in its own right, taking familiar foods and flavors, with a bit of a fancier twist, and making a good meal that I love to eat and enjoy! Seating and service here is friendly and prompt. Even when it's pretty loud and seems packed, there are always a handful of open tables available, where we've usually been able to be seated almost immediately. Such was the case this evening. We were on a bit of a time crunch so we ordered immediately and our food came out so fast that the waiter for our table was surprised as the food beat him with our napkins to the table. We ordered the Tuna Tostada and the Yucatan Spiced Chicken Fajitas. Both were amazing! Good thing for our tight timeline, the food was gone as fast as it came. The waiter helpfully recommend the house hot sauce, which was certainly spicy and a good compliment on our fajitas. Overall, a great place to dine for Mexican-inspired! Perfectly seasoned, tender, flavorful -- the kind of bite that makes you close your eyes for a second. They were so good I came back two days later just for them. That's not a craving... that's infatuation. - The Chayote Salad completely surprised me. Fresh, bright, and paired with their homemade hot sauce? My palate was awakened. I even brought it home (with dressing and hot sauce on the side) and it still hit! Speaking of heat -- if you love spicy food, ASK for their homemade hot sauce. It's bold, fiery, and addictive. I genuinely want a bottle for home. Service? 10/10. From the manager to the hosts to the bartender -- everyone was kind, attentive, and patient. There were booths, tables and bar seating available with Wonder Years playing on a few TVs with warm lighting and the incandescent Christmas lights that are reminiscent of Grandma's house (bonus points for nostalgia!) I requested a booth and she promptly sat me. She brought me water, menus and explained the specials to me. As I perused the menu, I was overwhelmed with the options available to me. I ultimately landed on one of the dinner specials (Cabernet braised brisket with a side of carrots & buttery mashed potatoes), chips & salsa and a Paloma. Chips landed first and while both salsas were fresh, I still felt the need to add salt. (Everyone's palate is different) Food & drink arrived simultaneously. Paloma was made strong but tasted more like a classic margarita as opposed to the tang of grapefruit that comes with a Paloma. Still good! The food was essentially cold & looked like it had been sitting for awhile being served to me but all the flavors were there. The brisket fell apart, I didn't even need a knife to cut it. The carrots were tender and the mashed potatoes were buttery. I would 1000% go back for the drinks and service, however I may get something different on the menu.
