    shrimp ceviche

I've only tried the shrimp ceviche appetizer, guacamole, and complimentary chips with salsa and bean dip but was pleasantly surprised with everything! The shrimp ceviche was beautifully plated, was a very generous portion (I had it as a meal and was stuffed!), and the shrimp was plump and fresh! For $16 I thought the plate was really well priced. On the other hand, $12 for guac and chips seems pricy--yet was tasty. Service was quick and attentive. Will definitely be coming back!

I do meet friends here for happy hour two or three times a year when we're craving margaritas and happy hour. The good parts are that they give you free bottomless chips and salsa and bean dip and all are very tasty. Also the people who work there are so friendly. Great atmosphere and menu is what you would expect. The downsides are that the food is just not that tasty anymore. In fact, it doesn't seem as fresh... I don't know if there's just too much lard in everything but it's just so heavy and dense and not really that flavorful. All of the meats are very very fatty, either they just leave a lot of fat in the meat and don't trim it off or it's just swimming in fatty sauce. The rice is so overcooked. The other issue is that the last time we walked in the place was just filled with a hazy cooking cloud, and when you leave there your clothes and hair will absolutely smell like grease and like a fire. Similar to how I smell when I leave Benihana. They were closed recently because they had a grease fire in the kitchen. Because the place is filled with a greasy smell I wonder if they're now cleaning the grease out of the hood, or not!

Portland is always a bit of hit and miss when it comes to Mexican restaurants -- but Si Senior Cedar Mill is a decent option for the inner westsiders. Although they have all of the traditional dishes...some better than other...my go to here is the Surf and Turf Tacos...which is delicious skirt steak and bacon wrapped shrimp on three tortillas...comes with a super good avocado cream sauce...this is a wonderful plate for lunch or dinner. You can order a side of rice and beans for a few bucks more...but the tacos are large and filling g on their own. Chips and salsa are also great and come with bean aside as well. Service is always friendly and prices are in range for what Mexican food is going for today...a very good stop if you are craving tacos!

Excuse the lack of food pictures I ate my food before I could take them. My uncle who is almost 99 loves this place and recommended it. Service was exceptional. The host was super attentive and so was the staff that helped us to a seat right away and held the door for us. They have a good alcoholic drink menu too, but I'm driving today.

This spot finally reopened after a huge kitchen fire over a year ago, and we were excited to check it out and support their reopening. They definitely have a good aesthetic inside and it feels very welcoming and open. Our server was super nice and very attentive. He answered the couple small questions we had and constantly came back to give us water refills and to check on us. The food though is where the lack of stars comes from. The chips were fairly stale and the beans were pretty runny. They tasted like the bag was left open for a week. My wife had a daiquiri and it was also extremely bland and watery and fairly small for $15. Our actual entrees weren't terrible in taste. I did really enjoy the flavor of the enchiladas suizas, but for $20, they were so so small. It's tough to leave a $60 meal and still feel hungry, especially at a Mexican restaurant where portion sizes are usually massive. Overall, I couldn't see us going back anytime in the near future when there are other more affordable options with more bang for our buck. Great service, rough food.

If you're craving authentic Mexican food served with heart, this family-owned gem is definitely worth a stop by! After a fire in May, Si Senor reopened in full force. There is a ton of seating either indoor or outdoor in the warmer months for large gatherings! The owner's daughter, who is also the manager, is so sweet & supportive of her families restaurant. Now, let's talk food! First up, the guacamole--it's not your typical bowl of guac. It's huge, fresh, and has a unique twist with pickled jalepenos and carmelized onions that'll keep you scooping. Then, there are the enchiladas- so BOMB. You get to choose your own protein in them. Arranged to mirror the colors of the Mexican flag, each enchilada comes topped with one of their house-made sauces, each with its own distinctive flavor. It's a beautiful way to showcase their dedication to traditional flavors with a creative touch. My favorite is by far the verde.! If you're a fan of heat, you're in luck: they have some seriously spicy hot sauces for the brave-hearted. But the true standout? Their new new surf and turf tacos!! You can't go wrong here--each bite is loaded with fresh, perfectly seasoned shrimp, bacon, AND carne asasa. They top it with fresh avocado and there is melty cheese as well. The meats meld together and make a special sauce and it is sooo good- making this dish a must-order item! I'll crave this. DRANKSS And let's not forget the drinks! Their margarita flight lets you try a variety of their signature margaritas and only $15 on happy hour. Stop by during happy hour for a fantastic deal on drinks and appetizers which is well worth it!

I dream of Si Senors tacos every night - when we ordered they said we got the best tacos on the menu and WOWOW they weren't lying! Surf and Turf Tacos and Birria Tacos were AMAZING! On top of the great food, they make great drinks and had extremely friendly staff. My boyfriend and I love having a date night here, we always end up leaving super happy and full

Good food, quick and humble service and chill ambiance. They have both outdoor and indoor seating. We visited them during lunch time over a weekday. The food arrived pretty quickly after the order. One may argue it's over priced, but well it's definitely a place to celebrate occasions with Mexican cuisine. The menu is vast and has something for everyone. The mole sauce is also good. Would recommend them!

The regular corn tortillas were excellent, though, so it was not a bad mistake to make. I also had jamaica to drink and let me tell you... it was not made from a mix! It was dark, thirst-quenching, and perfectly made. Most jamaica is super sweet - this was not! I love the flavor of real hibiscus and this did not disappoint. My friends had chile relleno bowls and birria tacos, all of which was excellent. Their watermelon margaritas were tasty and refreshing! For the amount of food and the overall experience, I thought it was a great way to experience the restaurant. Ángel took care of us and made the meal even more memorable by telling us the story and inspiration behind each dish as it came out. It made the tasting feel like much more than just trying a bunch of different dishes. I'm definitely a carnivore and usually feel like a meal needs some kind of meat, but surprisingly, my favorite dish was the mole with eggplant and rice. The mole was delicious, and I genuinely didn't miss having meat on the plate. I would happily order that dish again exactly as it was. The tomates en salsa arabe were another standout. I really enjoyed how fresh the dish tasted, especially with the seasonal tomatoes they were using. I also had the carnitas tacos, which had great flavor and texture. For dessert, we had what was essentially a fried concha, and I loved that it wasn't overly sweet. It had just the right amount of sweetness for me and was a great way to finish the meal. Overall, I highly recommend doing the full tasting menu at República. For around $40 per person, you get to experience the entire menu, and if you're lucky enough to have Ángel there to walk you through the stories and concepts behind the dishes, it makes the experience that much better.
