My wife and I had an excellent first visit of many to come at Allan's Authentic Mexican Restaurant. I am surprised to see the 3 1/2-star rating as it was definitely worth of 5 stars for us. We came for lunch and it was peffect. My wife, being vegetarian, had a Burrito that was huge. I had the steak fajitas, and it was also very good. The salsa that was served with the chips at the greeting should also be mentioned. It ranks with the best ver. Bailey was our server and she knew the menu perfectly. She silently selected the version of the beans that accompanied our lunches. Theresa had the refried beans, and I had the black beans. We will be back as we were very impressed. read more

Tucked into a strip mall in front of the Safeway Store, across from Starbucks, off of 185th and West Union is a hidden gem serving up great Mexican food. I have tried most of the Mexican restaurants and food carts on the West side and Allan's is the very best. This is a family owned and run restaurant. Every time I go, I see Dad, a Son or a Daughter hard at work here. I have been a customer of theirs since they first opened, many years ago. The food is great. However, ALLAN'S BURITO is SOOO GOOD and huge! The Taco's are really good, too. Tip. If you walk in and order To Go, budget about twenty-thirty minutes for your food. read more

I like the traditional enchiladas here, perfectly balanced with a nice tangy flavor and not overly creamy. We order from here often. The food is well prepared and tasty, but not such a great deal for the price. Last week we had a take out order, the taco chips were stale - it has happened before. We asked for salsa verde but there was no salsa included with the order. That happens often as well - or - you receive the wrong salsa. We recommend if you get a take-out order, pull everything out of the bag & check to see if it's correct. read more

Wow! I read reviews before coming here about wait time and thought I don't mind waiting for good food! Here is a few things this place is doing right... our servers were very sweet and soft spoken and I felt they were very attentive, their flavors on the dishes were actually very nice and my husbands burrito was very satisfactory other than some raw habanero powder on top that took away from the actual flavor. When we were sat down we were given a happy hour menu where we attempted to order a few different items.... That were all sold out (I get it, restaurants run out of things) but man oh man tell customers what you are out of. The big issue was my food, I got the bone in pork chop in mole, was brought to the table with 4 skewers to prop it up to make it look like more...not only was this not a chop, it was as thick as the handle of my butter knife. The flavor was actually nice but with how thin the meat was all I could taste was pure sauce! The bones were not normal I'm talking about picking through 4-5 pieces of bigger bones, and the same amount of little shards that stabbed my mouth. I alerted the server who seemed genuinely sorry, said she'd speak with the manager who couldn't even bother to chat with me themselves (I am a restaurant manager) it was not a busy night but definitely steady, but it just seemed like an afterthought. In the end they offered a dessert as a sorry I took it even though I wasn't really interested. I'm not saying I wouldn't come back but some changes definitely need to happen. What a terrible experience. We came at 5pm so the first ones for dinner. The restaurant was empty. They told us they ran out of kids menus but didn't give any other details. So I ordered the kids the happy hour quesadilla since they didn't have kids menu. The manager told us the kids can't have happy hour food without ordering drinks even though I ordered a drink for myself. They agreed to make a kids quesadilla for them but instead brought out an enchilada. When I told them they brought the wrong meal, they said they were still going to charge us for it. Thankfully my kids ate it happily. The plate the kids meal was on was hot but the food was cold. My enchilada was cold. My husband's burrito was mostly mushrooms with a tiny bit of steak. He didn't eat much and didn't take the leftovers home. My blackberry margarita was good thankfully. read more

the food here is so very good. we knew we were onto something good when we walked in on a Tuesday and the place was busy. I had a shrimp dish with a chipotle crema and I wanted to lick the plate. My daughter had the standard cheese enchiladas and the red sauce was so flavorful, not flat as some can be. Homemade tortillas, margaritas were fresh not bottle mix and the service was excellent! Meal looked delicious and was well plated. We got the heartwarming welcome with chips and salsa. Salsa had no heat in it but was fresh. Then we had savory potato churros, seasoned with parsley (?), strange choice but cool concept. For the entre we had a chimichanga which was full of vegetables and gigantic! This was my first time visiting this establishment. The overall experience was outstanding!! Leo our server was on point, friendly, approachable and professional, he performed 11 out of 10. He made very good menu suggestions. My mom was trying to describe a specific dish, he actually went and researched the dish and its ingredients. Who does this any more.... Leo did. The food was great, I enjoyed the cocktails. The ambiance was enjoyable as we arrived at 9pm sitting outside. At the end of our meal, he gave us a free promotional dessert, which was great. I will definitely be returning here and look forward to them reproducing the experience we enjoyed so much. We had my wife's birthday dinner with 8 people here 3 weeks ago and had a really good experience - so good we all decided to go back for another birthday dinner this week. We had a terrible experience - unbelieveable slow service. 25 minutes to get 2 pitchers of margaritas which they made one glass at a time?? When we finally got our meals we got 4 out of 8 and waited another nearly 10 minutes to get the rest of our families meals - which wasn't bad, but nearly all of our meals were cold or luke warm at best - that's not good service at all. As this was going on, several other tables that arrived after us got served drinks and had their food before us! Then we got charged 20% tip automatically for the size of our group when we should have immediately complained and asked for a 20% discount instead. read more

We went to this place on a Friday evening in December 2022 based on Tripadvisor comments and basically wanted to see what if it lived up to it's online reviews. We were seated rather quickly in a booth located on the East side of the restaurant and also noticed that we were the only ones seated on that side. We had a short wait for our server to order our drinks and to get the customary chips and salsa. We then placed our menu selections which was a burrito and three tacos. This is where things went sideways as approximately 30 plus minutes had passed since we had ordered food. However, based on many previous experiences with Mexican restaurants including some "upscale" establishments, this length of time seemed somewhat excessive. I finally got up and approached the front desk hostess/cashier regarding the status of our meal and she seemed somewhat surprised. She in turn talked to someone else who got who I believe was the manager/owner and they both looked somewhat surprised by our order. I told them that I would pay for the Margarita drink and Tequila shot we ordered as well as the chips and salsa but to cancel our meal order as we did want to wait anymore. It appeared that our meal order wasn't even being worked on or maybe the kitchen hadn't received it? The owner/manager tried to tell me that the restaurant was really busy and that there was a lot of customers in the restaurant but based on a quick look in the other main dining room, it was about half full, maybe 12 people total. So don't know what the problems were and by this time, we were ready to leave.. The manager wanted us to wait another 10 minutes but we had already waited (almost and hour) long enough and left the premises after paying for the drinks. read more

The salsa is just a tomato based simple salsa, nothing special. The chips were warm and fresh. This place was totally dead on a weekday at lunchtime so I was a little leery. I ordered the lunch size Pollo a la crema with light chipotle (not a fan of chipotle) but this was pretty good. Served with tortillas and beans of your choice. The rice was more like a rice o roni. I really used to love this place, but one bad experience can really ruin it. Angry doesn't begin to explain it!! Ordered through the restautrant's website at 6:19 and food finally arrived at 8:08 via Door Dash!!! Seriously?! The food was ICE COLD and the manager told me to "put it on a plate and reheat it in the microwave." My anger is bordering on FURY. Then he credited the enchilada order and made me still foot the bill for the $7.00 delivery charge. IF YOU CANNOT DO IT CORRECTLY DO NOT OFFER DELIVERY!!! Bottom line: I HATE being lied to. Our food had to be sitting there for over an hour and a half before a driver even picked it up because I called an hour in and the manager told me he was just waiting for a driver. I called again at 8:00pm and he said there still hadn't been a driver and he would check on it. No driver but my food was just sitting there rotting?! You can't "reheat" a cheese enchilada with lettuce on it, especially when it is in a metal container!! Strangely enough he called me back as the mystery driver that had never arrived was literally at my door telling me he was late because he was looking for beer we ordered. WTF?! I didn't order beer. Biked over from our home in the next neighborhood over. Bike racks out front are easily accessible. We were warmly greeted by the front of house staff into a very clean and cozy dining area. My son and I were waiting for another two people in our party, so we took advantage of the chips and salsa and water delivered to the table immediately. My son usually hates salsa and RAVED about their salsa. He also loved the NA Fruit Margs and ordered 3 (lol). We came on a Sunday which is all day happy hour, and ordered off the happy hour menu. We got the quesadilla, the flautas, the tacos and the burrito. All were super tasty and were the perfect portion sizes. The wait staff were super kind and checked in just enough with us that we felt engaged and welcome. We will definitely be biking back soon and bringing friends! read more

I have been to Allan's 2x. I really was hoping it would have gotten better but the experience was consistent both times. The service although good was crazy slow -- at times I thought they forgot about us all together. The waiter reminded me it was him and one other person multiple times -- sadly, this happened both times I went. The food was mushy and cold. I didn't bother ordering another drink-- it took almost 30mins to get the first one. 2 stars because I think the wait staff work very hard but they seem short-handed and that really affects the service, ambiance and food quality. Won't be going back -- I have actually heard while sitting in other neighboring restaurants people who have left Allan's because of the very reasons I have mentioned. read more

First time visiting with the fam. We ordered the Speedy Gonzalez as our appetizer which consisted of a trio dip; queso, house guac, & refried beans with cotija cheese. We ate everything minus the queso ,wish the consistency would've been a bit thicker... but it was not bad. For my two toddlers we ordered a kids burrito (which was more than enough for them to share.) they loved it! My husband ordered a carne asada Allan burrito which he said had tons of flavor, but wishes that for the next time there is more carne in his burrito. There was lots of mixed veggies ! I myself had the three chicken enchiladas plate with half salsa rojo / verde! It came with spanish rice and a mini tostada bowl filled with their delicious refried beans !!!! My horchata was so yummy, had to order a second! Service: phenomenal. Waiter was super friendly and very attentive! Customer service exceded my expectations The music, super nostalgic...brought my husband back to his childhood. So, i'd say we def love this place & will be back. read more
