I passed by this food truck for years before stopping the other night. It was after work, I had nothing to cook and didn't want to shop, and didn't want to go out, since I needed to get home and let the dog out. The truck sits in the very corner of Guess and Carver, in the NE parking lot. There are several fairly new picnic tables there, but no tarp or tent. Yet. I ordered a torta with chicken and was given a styrofoam to go box in about five minutes. I drove home and opened it to a wonderful aroma. I could hardly wait to chomp into this beauty! It was a fantastic mixture of flavors: jalapeño, radish, onion, tomato, tomatillo sauce, and cotijia cheese. I've had various tortas from other places, none better. While it wasn't the most amazing food, it had that homemade vibe and really filled the hungry spot I had. I'll definitely be back. read more

Stopped by after an event at Duke homestead, about 3 minutes away around 9:30! I was craving late night taco truck and there's definitely a lot of spots in Durham for it. I saw a review to try the steak torta (milanesa de rez) and it did not disappoint. What I love about tortas is that there are multiple veggies but the meat is never as thick as a regular hamburger, making the each bite fresh and evenly ratioed. The steak actually does have a breaded taste which is delicious! The bread itself is buttered and most importantly, not soggy given the amount of ingredients in the sandwich. The onions and jalapenos are cooked too, there's avacado and cheese, and the sandwich is huge for 10$; it will fill you up. I just took off one star because we had the tacos as well and the meat isn't as juicy as other trucks, it was also a bit colder and the tortillas were not as warm and crisp as I wanted them to be. But definitely go for the tortas!! Also service is good- cashier makes sure to check all customizations, food takes about 10 minutes to make and salsa comes already packaged! read more

Good food, reasonable pricing, would definitely recommend trying this food truck. The selection for a food truck is pretty solid, with staples like beef and chicken tacos, burritos, and quesadillas, but with other selections available that you'd typically see in more of a sit down restaurant setting, like lengua, pastor, shrimp, tamales, tortas, and chimichangas. We got beef, pastor, lengua, and shrimp tacos, as well as a chicken tamale. All of the tacos were $2 with the exception of the shrimp taco which was $3, and they were all a good size for the price. It appeared as though in addition to having their regular items, they also had somewhat of a revolving or 'specials' menu, which is nice for some variety if you happen to frequent this food truck. Everything was delicious. They weren't your typical 'slap them together' tacos you'd expect from a food truck setting, with each taco curated with specific ingredients, like radishes, avocados, etc., but it definitely wasn't your over-the-top hipster tacos with kale, beets, quinoa and all of that other BS. The food quality was solid and although everything we got we'd definitely get again, the pastor took the show. Deliciously marinated, sweetened with caramelized pineapple, and had those perfect crisp pieces in there too for a great texture. We showed up when they were relatively busy, I believe there were 4-5 tickets ahead of ours, and we got our food within 15 minutes or so. This food truck has been at this single location for a long time now, which is saying something considering so many food trucks come and go. I wouldn't be surprised if they eventually made their way to a restaurant setting, although I do hope they keep this truck right where it's at so we can scoop a quick and delicious meal on the way home from time to time.
