Mexican rice was dry. We ordered Carne Asada tacos and Chicken Tacos , both of them really dry as if the meat wasn't as soft and was cooked too well. Had to drink water constantly while having to finish them. I'm sorry but it was not a great first impression for me. Haven't been here in a while and now I remember why. Ordered about $70 worth of food for 4 adults. The beans and cheese burrito was fine, but the beans didn't have much flavor. The egg burrito with chorizo was just weird, I'm actually not sure if it was chorizo, it was a kinda meat, but again no flavor, like unseasoned ground beef. The carnitas nachos were very average, not much beans or meat, mostly sour cream and salsa. Also the meat was very fatty. I don't mind paying if the food is flavorful, but this food overall was bland and disappointing. I'll continue to drive out to West Sac for my quick Mexican food. read more

Pastor burrito is the best I've had. Came here on the way to Tahoe as burritos are a great on the road trip. We were there around 5:30pm on a Friday, no line. Got two burritos, regular no beans. Great service and tasty tacos . Had the carne asada tacos and the Al Pastor . Both were very good but the carne asada was my favorite.

My fiance and I live nearby & regularly order the carne asada fries with chips & salsa + horchata. Food is great and I would recommend it to anyone, but my god their hours are janky. Can't tell you how many times I've called between 4-6 PM and they are randomly closed. If you can catch them open, definently get the carne fries. read more

I am torn between 3 and 4 stars on this one. The guy at the front counter, I'm guessing the owner, was 100% on the mark providing excellent service with a smile and can do attitude. Total 5 stars from the start. The location is in a nondescript strip mall with easy enough parking. The loitering folks asking for change in front of the liquor store didn't add to the experience. The interior is very basic in layout with a nice collection of posters and prints to dress it up a bit. Order at the counter, help yourself to chips and salsa and wait for your order to drop at your table. Chips were decent. The salsa had a nice touch of heat, the radishes were fresh and crisp, the avocado crema was very fresh and tasty. The meat selection was a little limited compared to most taquerias. I opted for a simple carnitas burrito. It was reasonably well seasoned and of about average in size. Found it a bit pricey at just under $20 for a regular carnitas burrito and two beers. This place is run by wonderful, kind and intelligent human beings. I simply love the food, here. It is classic Mexican-American, better than most of the same type served in restaurants for twice the price. Their food is consistently, delicious (as reflected by their reviews). So please... do not be scared off by the nasty complaints who were maybe expecting some trendy Tex-mex food or looking for specialty vegan food. This is not that place. Craving for a burrito and saw Taqueria Davis was closest to my work and had the highest ratings. Made it an obvious choice for me. Went in at 11:30 and there was maybe 2-3 other people there. Much better than the wait at Gudalajara Taqueria which was packed the last times I went. I ordered a regular burrito with carne asada. Regular burrito has beans, rice and meat (it also has pico which it doesn't say on the menu, so if you don't like pico make sure to say something) this was way more than enough food for me. It took me two days to eat it lol. Everything in it was really well made and the green salsa from their chilled, fresh salsa bar was amazing. I paid a little more than 8 for this. Service was friendly and my food was ready in 5 minutes. I'll be back in when I'm craving Mexican food again for sure. read more

This is such a good Taqueria in Davis!!! I was in the mood for Mexican food but did want to go Chipotle. I wanted authentic Mexican food that also caters to vegans. They offer a Vegan Burrito for $9.50 and it's freaking huge. If you think Chipotles burritos are big, you need to come here. Definitely come with an appetite if you want a burrito. Parking wasn't an issue and I found a spot right outside of the Taqueria. There is self serve chips and dips. I enjoyed the salsa they offer here. My boyfriend also got a burrito and Horchata. It came out to $21 something for two massive burritos and a drink. I loved the authenticity this place has and at such good prices. I'm happy I discovered an authentic Mexican restaurant in Davis so I don't have to settle for other places. I will definitely be back with an appetite for the vegan burrito. read more

Although the ambiance and friendly service was good, the portions they give are really small for what you order. My friend ordered the Carne Asada and I ordered 2 tacos, 1 beef and 1 fish. It was a 'to go' order, and when we opened up our food, we were both very disappointed in the portions they give us, especially for what we paid for. Oh, and then the guy who was biting his nails without washing his hands grabbed our plates and brought out our food. Sigh. Great food and service! Tacqueria Davis has the best service and friendliest workers around. Hands down. I've been here on multiple occasions and I have never had a bad experience. The cashier guy always calls the guys "Boss" and ladies "Madam" (or sometimes "Boss" too). He's always smiling and quick to suggest popular items if you're unsure of what you want or if it's your first time there. The workers sometimes walk around to check up on tables when it's not too busy (which doesn't happen too often, since this place is normally busy). Food: Carne Asada fries: The meat is just sooo good. The fries themselves are nice and flavorful. They are very generous on the sour cream, guacamole, and meat too! Super burrito: I've tried the Pastor (spicy marinated pork) and the Carne Asada. Both are made perfectly; the meat is really juicy and flavorful. The burrito itself is pretty big - I can barely finish one sometimes and I can eat quite a bit. It comes with sour cream, guacamole, rice, beans and lettuce. Overall, I'd have to say this edges out Tacqueria El Burrito for the top tacqueria in Davis. Great food combined with the amazing service makes this place my number one choice. If it's your first time here, I'd recommend either the Carne Asada Fries or the super burrito. Note: There's not a lot of parking in the lot, so you might have to park down the street sometimes.
