Although a tad bigger than a typical street taco, I felt like the price was great for the value. When I walk into a place and feel uncomfortable that I have to order in English my expectations are extremely high, but unfortunately the flavor on these tacos were extremely lacking. I ordered Carnitas, Al pastor and Barbacoa tacos. The only one that had flavor was the Al pastor. I will be willing to give some others a try but honestly when pork is lacking flavor I don't have much faith in the rest so I will try something else on the menu. I want to begin by saying that I have been to this restaurant for years! and let me say, it has gone down hill. The food used to taste fresh and I used to talk so good about their tortillas, how they always felt and tasted so fresh. now the food is given to you stale. the food almost tastes as if they grabbed left overs from the prevous day and just heated it up for you. the service has definitely gotten worse, wether you call on the phone or order in person, the people taking your order talk to you with such a horrible attitude. Finally, you cant even enjoy dining in anymore, its supposedly a "mexican" restaurant and barely any mexican music is played. Nowadays all you hear is vulgar "reggaeton " music which contains very explicit and vulgar lyrics. I only gave it two stars due to it being a staple in Riverdale but truly only deserves one star. When the gal working the register doesn't speak much English and the guy working the grill doesn't speak any English, you know that it's going to be about as authentic Mexican-American as it gets here. I managed to flub my way through three (by holding up three fingers) tacos, one pollo, one asada and one carnitas. It took a few minutes (I watched the guy grilling the meat to order) and when it arrived, it looked and smelled great. Nicely stuffed with the usual radish and cucumber slices. An unexpected bonus was the grilled scallions, which popped into my mouth perfectly as I ate this great meal. Very tasty, very filling, VERY cheap. Yum. First time stoppin in as I seen it on my way home during a detour. I decided to try it out as I heard this area had pretty authentic Mexican restaurants/taquerias. I ordered an extra 3 tacos (3- al pastor & 2-carne asada), because I didn't know how large they would be and if they would have a decent amount of filling. The food was good, and you get a LOT stuffed in what seems like homemade tortillas. I ended up getting full off of just two! I ended up sharing the rest of the tacos with the family. I like that they provide you with the toppings on the side so you can add as you please. It isn't as cheap as I expected it to be, but I'm not complaining as the portion sizes helped me get over that fact. I only gave 3 stars as it was pretty mediocre as the flavor of everything wasn't "memorable". It fills you up and it's good enough to finish, but it's not something I'd make it a point to go to on a regular basis. Additionally, the place looks kinda drab. I wouldn't want to eat inside unless I had no choice (this is why I ordered to go). Though I would come back again, I'd just make sure to order less and maybe try a different type of dish or taco, because the Al Pastor weren't cutting it for me (and I say this with sadness as these are my favorite type of tacos). read more

Won't go back, food was terrible, service was worse, and the bill was high but was higher than it was suppose to be because an entry error but after our experience we didn't feel like having someone fix it and take who knows how long to help. Plus we couldn't get anyone to come to our table, Waitresses were gathered in a corner of the restaurant hanging out in a booth all talking and on their phones not even trying to hide it. Before you ask about any language barrier even when my boyfriend spoke to one of the many different people who came to our table (No idea who our waitress was) they still had our order wrong. Got pastor (pork) tacos, meat was tender, spices were done right, overall a great place to get authentic tacos. I only wish they added some queso fresco or cheese to add some creaminess. The side tray of sauces are delicious and add another dimension to the tacos-- it's a must add-on. Rice and beans were so tasty. As a side note-- the only high chairs they had were missing the front bars, so not really the safest to be putting small infants in. read more

I'm amazed there are no reviews for this wonderful taqueria. Some might say it's in a not-too-desirable neighborhood, but they serve up a full array of tacos (more than a dozen types of fillings, all on corn tortillas fresh off the griddle), sandwiches, side dishes, platters and other delights. I usually opt for the Carnitas tacos, although I've enjoyed the Carne Asada and Al Pastor here as well. Order and pay at the counter, and before you've had a chance to more than scan your e-mail on your smart phone, your meal arrives. In my case, carnitas tacos, garnished with lime wedges, radish slices and cucumber as well. And a tray of four salsas, including one built around chopped nopalitos. I may be the only person there who speaks English as a first language, but the food is first-rate, prices are dirt-cheap, and there's always a vat of pickled jalapenos to accompany your meal. read more

I called to ask what time they were open until and because I spoke English, they immediately hung up on me. Then, when I called back and attempted to speak Spanish instead, they hung up on me again in the middle of me struggling to speak their language instead. How incredibly rude. It's one thing to come to this country and try to open a small business in a primarily English speaking culture, which one can admire, but to do so without any attempt to actually integrate into our culture by being polite in any way is utterly outrageous and racist. I don't care if they have the best Mexican food in the area, which I doubt they do anyway, I am going to boycott this place, which is a loss for them because my husband and I generally tend to return to restaurants for years if they are good. But for now on I will gladly go to their competition. To the staff: Don't hang up on people purely because they can't speak your language! How dare you. I just wanted something without meat, and I got a quesadilla with both melty and non-melty (queso fresco?) cheese and lettuce inside. It was a huge amount of food. Next time, I'd ask for some beans too. They brought four salsas to the table. The bread was really thick and soft and seemed like it was made from rough-milled corn, and had a nice corn-bread-like taste. If you eat meat, you should have many many more options. They were out of the mushroom and squash flower (?) quesadillas, but perhaps it'd be possible to get them if you ordered ahead. read more

Good food for a pretty reasonable price, under 10. But they speak absolutely zero English here. You could get away with butchering the order or simply pointing at a picture. If you want Mexican food rather than other laying Latin countries in the area like El Salvador, Honduran or whatever, this is a good place to go. Great service. Keep in mind this isn't fast food because everything is prepared fresh--Right down to the corn tortillas! My family is from Mexico and I was really bummed that there weren't any options in DC. So happy we found this place. This is traditional Mexican taco place. I had the pastor and Barbados de Res. my partner had the carnitas which is served with rice, beans, nopales and fresh corn tortillas. You also get a quad of salsas for your table. A lot of the taquerias and "Mexican" restaurants in this area seem to really be South or Central American joints (with papusas and such on the menu and not very good Mexican food). They were so nice that I hate writing this review but the tacos were not good. This place had been on my list since I get me clothes tailored next door. The taco looked good but the beef was like steakum meat and there was no flavor . The onion radish and sauce were just all ok and did not save the taco.
