ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! I had to visit the location 4 times just to be certain that my review would be consistent. San Luis Taqueria is a G E M in Savannah. They specialize in tacos, tortas, quesadillas, & toastadas. They offer chicken, beef, pork, fish as the meats. The location is relatively small with 6 tables and 4 bar stools. If it's lunch hour, you might want to get there early or opt for take out because they get BUSY! Guess the secret got out!! I've had tacos on all 4 visits. I have tried the Pescado, Carnitas, & Asada Tacos. The tortillas are handmade so that's always a plus. They also don't skimp on the meat! 3-4 tacos and a drink will run you $16-20. They offer MANY toppings. If you say you want everything on your tacos they don't just mean cilantro and onion. They offer Guacamole, cheese, pico de gallo, sour cream & the cilantro and onions, so be sure to clarify. I haven't tried the dressed up taco but I'm very curious after the owner explained this to me. This is one of Savannahs lovely local businesses. They are clean, and friendly. They are small but MIGHTY. FINAL VERDICT: you MUST try this place if you love authentic tacos. The service is excellent considering how busy everyone is here. The prices are also worth the value of the food you get. 5 stars and well deserved!!

Shrimp, Carne and Al pastor tacos ... glass bottle coke is better

Stopped in because of the good reviews and happy we did. Small place but comes with a big bang in the way of taste and service. I ordered the Tacos al pastor & carne asada, both were excellent and made me feel like I was right back home in Texas. We're considering a move to Savannah and having good Mexican was one of our important check marks that needed to be ticked off. This place would definitely be on our regular list. The taste really comes through on both of these tacos and the hot sauce that I ordered, hot, was indeed hot but not so much they took away from the taste. Would definitely be a regular here.

    Sorry couldn't wait!!!

Customer service is top-notch! Food is authentic, and I would rate it probably the number one taco stand in Savannah! Highly recommend it!

I've been eating Mexican food all my life, so what a pleasant surprise I was to stumble on this place. I was in Savanah for a dental appointment, and I asked the front desk where there was a good place to grab a quick bite to eat. People came out of nowhere saying I had to go to Taquieria El San Luis. I was a bit apprehensive. After all, nothing says Mexican like Georgia. Right? Anyway, I decided to give it a try. I walked in and ordered a carnitas burrito to go and two tacos al pastor to eat in. After my first bite of the taco, m vreaction was, "Chingao"!!!! That was amazing!!!! The food was easily in the top three I've ever eaten at a Mexican restaurant. Needless to say, i devoured the two tacos. Then my curiosity got the best of me, and I decided to take a bite of the burrito. That burrito died a good death. I was winded after all that, of course, and I asked for wheelchair service to my car. Unfortunately, they didn't have one, so I left that recommendation in the suggestion box. Then I did the the unthinkable and ordered four tacos al pastor to go. And yes, I did actually leave this time with my food in hand. The sad part is that I may never visit the taquieria again because I was really traveling through. However, if I'm ever back in Savanah, this will definitely be my first stop.

Going to keep this short and let the pictures explain everything. Definitely try their tacos!

A delicious new find! I'm certain it was the owner singing along to the Hispanic music playing while he was cooking. This small restaurant makes their own homemade corn tortillas, and that was the appeal that brought me here today! I enjoyed the marinated chicken taco, beef taco carne asada and the seasoned pork taco carnitas. Choose 1 of 3 proteins and approximately 7 toppings. The toppings were super fresh, and I especially enjoyed the crunch of the slaw on the pork taco. Green and red salsas are extra and are offered in several spicy heat choices. Tacos are reasonably priced $2.75-$3.00. Additional offerings with the same protein choices are quesadillas $5.75-$6.00, burritos $7.00-$8.00, tostados $2.75-$3.00, tortas $7.00-$8.00. Sides available include rice .75, beans .75, or guacamole $1.00. I will return!

Good tacos! Good salsa and the tortillas are the real deal. The service was also good, very welcoming.

Round here, this is taco tops! They stay busy and it's easy to see why. Pretty authentic tacos with a great price. There is plenty of seating inside but I usually take mine to go. Fast casual spot. The tacos are small but mighty in flavor, my favorites are the carne asada and shredded chicken. The Barbacoa is not the best I've had but that shredded chicken is so flavorful It makes up for it. I tend to get the tacos or tortas bc the toppings are super crisp! Their corn tortillas are what a tortilla should be, soft and moist.. anyone who thinks they don't like corn tortillas needs to try these before making a final decision! I will definitely be trying their fish and shrimp tacos soon. I don't even like tortas, or so I thought until I had it here. The bread is so light and delicious, everything spiced perfectly. They turned me. Omg and the best part-- their red and green salsas!! I wish they would sell it in a bottle, it's my favorite hot sauc

Tacos, perfect for a light meal. I asked for a table on the semi-enclosed patio. It looked cozy, with its low painted walls, table umbrellas and overhead canopies, birds chirping and Mexican music softly playing. I had two street tacos, a la carte, and a house margarita. That would be enough with the complimentary chips and salsa for the small lunch that I wanted, but I'd recommend three for a normal size lunch. The Lamb Barbacoa was tender pieces, moist from the rich simmer sauce, with raw and fried onions and lots of cilantro. A bit salty. The Pork Belly was large pieces, relatively lean, nicely rendered and curiously sweet/sour. With radishes, tomatoes, picked onions. Both were very good. As were the two hot sauces brought when I asked, one very hot and the other smoky and sweet. The chips and salsa were nothing special but both decent. The margarita was just ordinary in flavor and strength and served in a disposable plastic cup. It was refreshing nonetheless. As for other menu items, there are all the Tex-Mex standards and some Mexican entrees but I think I'd get some street tacos again; there are a large variety, many which I've not seen before. All the staff: greeter, bartenders, waiters, were fully bilingual, today serving a roughly equal mix of English and Spanish-speaking customers. My waiter checked on me frequently and his advice to try the pork belly taco (his favorite) was spot on. Another person was engaged in cleaning the entire time I was there, and I watched in fascination as she tackled every conceivable surface, using a variety of tools and stepladders where needed. Dinner and a show. I am easily entertained.

If you enjoy a little spice in your cocktail, I highly recommend it. Since we were only in town for one night, we planned on hopping around downtown and trying several different places, so we kept it simple and ordered three tacos to share. There were quite a few tempting options on the menu, and every taco we tried was delicious. Looking back, we honestly should have just stayed here all night eating tacos and drinking tequila because none of the other places we visited afterward lived up to this experience. The atmosphere was bright, lively, and fun, with a great location right on the boardwalk. Between the food, drinks, and overall vibe, this ended up being one of our favorite stops of the trip. We'll absolutely be returning the next time we're in town. After experiencing some of the other disappointing spots downtown, this place made us realize we probably didn't need to go anywhere else.

Foxy Loxy delivers a phenomenal coffee shop experience. Not only is the coffee top-notch (and for 9 out of 10 people, it will be some of the best coffee they have all year), but in the interest of full transparency for my fellow coffee nerds, if you're the type of person who judges extraction ratios, roast profiles, and espresso technique above all else, you may also want to check out Franklin's or Origin Coffee while you're in Savannah. I say that not as criticism of Foxy Loxy, because I absolutely love this place and visit regularly, but as someone who considers himself a true coffee-shop enthusiast, I think it's only fair to give fellow coffee lovers the complete picture. For me, Foxy Loxy wins because it combines very good coffee with an outstanding atmosphere, making it one of the most enjoyable coffee shop experiences in the city. The atmosphere is exactly what you hope to find in a cool downtown coffee shop. Whether you're working inside, grabbing a seat upstairs on the second level, or hanging out in the back courtyard (my personal favorite spot), Foxy Loxy has you covered. There's plenty of seating, great food and drink options (their tacos and chips and queso are amazing), and an outdoor patio that offers tons of shade from both umbrellas and mature trees. They even have a really cool water feature and regularly host wine nights and campfire events that make the place feel more like a community gathering spot than just a coffee shop. This is truly one of Savannah's gems and absolutely worth a visit. On the coffee side, one of my personal favorites is a cortado with horchata. That said, I've yet to find a bad choice on the menu. No matter what you order, you're probably going to leave happy. Pro tip: If you're spending some time there and want to explore afterward, head out the front door, take a left, and keep walking until you reach Forsyth Park, one of Savannah's most iconic destinations. If you found this review helpful, give it a like. I hope you enjoy Foxy Loxy as much as I do.
