This is a hidden gem that we weren't expecting to come across. First, the sit-down area is located behind the butcher area and it's clear that the quality of the meat is solid. After ordering a few tacos, I regret not ordering the broth that everyone else seemed to have ordered. Regardless, the tacos were divine. I have to say the peppers were extremely spicy and something that I half-regret eating. But despite the spicy sweats, the flavors were spot on that it was such a memorable meal. I went into this restaurant because I noticed that they had huaraches, and because a chef at another restaurant recommended it. I am a big huaraches fan, and I tried this in four different restaurants in a couple of months. Each time I enter every restaurant I look around and leave if it is dirty. This restaurant was clean. I ordered the carnitas (roasted pork) huaraches. The pork was juicy, and the toppings fresh. This nice sized portion kept me full all day. I did not see a Diet Coke in the drink refrigerator. I got a bottled water (better for me). The gentleman behind the counter and the register lady were very friendly. Thank goodness I took Spanish in high school, because I use it at Mexican restaurants. I I love neighborhood Mexican joints because their food is cheaper, and is highly better quality than the most of the other restaurants. I will add this place on my lunch list! read more

He seems nice also remind me a little California guy ( May be he's English sounds?) I used to be there for long time so... any way Taco came looks good. Very authentic I can smell before eat . You know you're about to eat amazing tacos when the staff only speaks Spanish. The staff were all super friendly and did a good job of taking covid precautions (wore a mask and some tables were closed off). I ordered 3 shrimp tacos (you must order a minimum of 3...same goes for the fish tacos), an al pastor taco, carnitas taco, chicken taco, and steak taco. They were all perfectly seasoned, well cooked, and came with some fresh onions and cilantro on top. The green and red salsas were also given on the side. I loved both! the The green was a more mild salsa, and the red was spicier and more bold! Definitely check this place out if you're ever visiting Longwood! You won't be disappointed! read more

Yes, this is a Mexican restaurant, but don't expect that you'll get restaurant service. Grab a menu when entering, choose a booth, order at the kitchen window, pick up and pay at same. No waitstaff. Plastic utensils and plastic food baskets. Food good, but not great, and of varying quality. Steak taco meat was dry and uninspiring, but grilled chicken was moist and flavorful. Huarache good, sopes good. Corn tortillas yummy. Beans too salty. Rice cold. I'd have to say that foods are hit or miss, and the lack of table service takes this place down to pretty average. Oh yeah....don't ask for water unless you're willing to pay for a bottle. We won't be breaking our necks to go back here anytime soon. read more

Absolutely delicious tacos! Wow. The restaurant gave me an authentic feel, and it was a clean and relaxed environment. They have a butcher in the place as well, with delicious slabs of meat. The service was friendly and fast. The food was absolutely delicious and I had to order more because it was just that good! The food was a bit greasy, but everything was phenomenal. I can't believe I haven't been here before. I will definitely be back soon and I cannot wait! To make note, after you are finished eating, you ask for your slip from the food counter and you bring it to the register up front by the door. There is a $10 credit card minimum so keep that in mind! They also have a small free parking lot and are located next to a Mexican market. Love their food. The birria tacos are amazing. The reason for my one star review is the evil witch that works the register. I placed a large catering order for the company I work for. It was a $3,000 order. She asked me to put a deposit which I was fine with but said it had to be cash. It is not my business so I can not pay cash and don't walk around with$500 cash on my person. I have ordered from her several times and she always pulls some nonsense like this. I suggest to the owner that even though she is your mom you should tell her to clean toilets or something, anything else besides dealing with customers because she is terrible at it. I love this place because you walk in, you pass by the butcher shop and then bam, you're in a restaurant. Is it fancy? No, is it authentic? Hell yes. I've had the fish and chicken tacos thus far. The menu is huge. From tripe to tongue, they have countless options of protein. I can't fathom eating a tongue of anything but my friend said it was delicious. The chicken is bursting with flavor, very tender. The fish was light and tasty. What levels up this place is the self service everything bar. Pico de gallo, verde sauce, pickled onions, sautéed onions, jalapeños, cactus, cilantro, lime wedges. ALL OF THE THINGS. More than I listed, but that's what I smother my tacos in! Clean, delicious and authentic, located by walking through the butcher shop (carniceria), the tacos are some of the best I've had. Definitely order the barbacoa (lamb), tripe (tripa) and if you like chicken (pollo), the chicken here is juicy and smoky, not even a hint of being dried out like inferior taquerias. We had tripe, lengua (tongue), chicken, lamb, and asada (seasoned beef) tacos and all were delicious. If you eat pork or shrimp there are bunch more options, we didn't even order all the different beef choices, just our favorites. Between two people we ate 13 tacos and drank a giant horchata. Here's the drill, walk to the back where the ordering counter is, tell the man what you want and sit in a booth. A little bit of Spanish will help, but he can definitely understand English. He'll ding the bell and call you when your food is ready. He'll give you personal bottles of salsa verde and salsa roja- the salsa verde is delicious and amazing with a sour tomatillo/lime flavor and slight kick. When you are done, bus your table if you are not an animal and go get your ticket from where you ordered and walk up to the front counter by the door to pay. This is the best damn Mexican (or 1 of) restaurant in Kennet! Not sure what the one the reviewer in an earlier review was talking about when he said not full Mexican?? Seriously, this is as Mexican as it gets! When you can find Tripa, Cabeza, Lengua, Barbacoa, Consome...etc, on the Menu buddy, then you know it's as Mexican as it gets. I frequented the 'other popular' spot, the one with a bunch of reviews but found their menu and taste lacking. Why is it that it has more reviews then? Well it's frequented by those that would pull out their phone and Yelp and as such the menu and flavors are dumbed down / Americanized to a degree. Take that for what it's worth. This place on the other-hand patrons are 99% Mexican, many of them who neither knows anything about Yelp and who wouldn't whip out and do what I just did :) Excellent spot and great tasting! Outstandingly authentic taco experience out here it Kennett Square! Stopped in for lunch on the way back to the city and was pleasantly surprised by this hole in the wall restaurant/meat market. There were just a couple other diners at the time, but it was late afternoon and I'm sure the lunch rush was long gone. We walked right up to the order window and placed our order. This is a good time to practice your Spanish by the way! I decided to try a few different tacos and went with a chicken, a chorizo, and a pastor (pork with pineapple). They came out fast and we dressed them up with all the fixings on their unique condiment bar. Do yourself a favor and get the green salsa! All three tacos were fantastic, but my favorite was the pastor with the contrasting sweetness of the pineapple. The chorizo was a little spicy for me, but I'm admittedly a wimp! The flavor was still perfect for chorizo. The chicken had a tangy marinade that we really enjoyed. I'm so glad I got to try this totally unassuming, but awesome lunch spot. Went in yesterday on the recommendation of a colleague. You have to walk toward the back (past the section with the register and the butchered meats) to the window to order. I always try tacos on my first go around at a Mexican place that is new to me. Had three tacos: carne asada, pollo and carnitas ($2.50 each). All three were excellent. The green sauce provided with my to-go order was great; just a bit of heat and good flavor. I will be going back to try some more menu items for sure. read more

Great authentic food that we all loved. We tried several tacos, burrito and huaraches. Had a bit of remorse not trying the soup that everyone else was eating so we ear marked it for our return visit. The condiment bar was nearly empty when we arrived but they quickly refilled it and even brought some to our table noticing that we didn't have any. Everyone was super nice and really cared about what they were doing. The only reason it's missing the fifth star was the loud tv airing a Spanish soap opera that made it difficult to talk or to keep the attention of our young kids during scenes that weren't appropriate for them. read more

Wow I got teleported to a town in Mexico. Authentic. Authentic. Authentic The food was delicious and the staff were very kind. Lots of smiling and nodding.... Not sure how much they understood me apart from their menu which they spoke English well about. I was the only gringo in the place. It was 3:30pm on a Wednesday and the place was busy. I look forward to going back and trying different things. I had the sopas, one chicken and one steak. I am of Mexican descent and grew up eating GOOD tacos. I got one taco al pastor and the thee carne asada. The al pastor was half fat and not as savory as I expected. I thought the taco de carne asada would be the saving grace but nope. They didn't use the traditional meat and spices for the simplicity and deliciousness of carne asada. I was left unsatisfied and hungry. The condiment bar was a nice touch. Because of it I was able to stuff my tacos with cilantro, onions and salsa. Which made the experience better.
