Tonight was my last meal. A taco salad with no beans, soggy lettuce, no tomatoes. I requested added raw onions and jalapeños. I went with a friend a few days ago on a coworker's recommendation and I am so glad I took it. This restaurant is so cute, the bar was gorgeous and I loved the "Ivy wall" decorations. We were there right around dinner time and our food came out so fast. It felt like we had just ordered and bam the food was there. I had the Beef Chimichangas with rice and beans it was so good. A great find! Don't underestimate restaurant's in "malls." First off the staff were very attentive and friendly. I like that- especially after driving 200 miles on my tour. The menu has all the favorites and then some. This spot passed the "salsa test" with a nice, authentic salsa with rough pieces of onion, cilantro and peppers. The chips were hearty and served in a large stainless steel bowl. One stand out item were the home-made tortillas. Really special. An obvious step up from factory tortillas. We asked for hot sauce and they delivered two house made sauces, one green and one red. This place would be better if the menu were better organized. It reads like a Lutheran liturgy. I didn't want the authentic tacos, which had interesting ingredients, but you could order "soft or hard tacos" on another part of the menu but with chicken or unseasoned (!) ground beef. I asked if I could get them with Al pastor (like on the other page) and they said I could. So why not put all the tacos together and have room for another dish? The problem is the same with the burritos. The food is good though and they have a medium margarita which they do not have at the place across the street (small or giant ONLY). Service is good, fast, prices are good. I'd reorganize the menu and put a few more items in it, then it would be 5 stars. read more

I will have to say that finding good Mexican food anywhere northwest of Fairfield is hard. For a college town, Oxford is sorely lacking in good Mexican food. So a quick trip to Hamilton is worth it for the folks and food at Taquieria Guanajuato. I've been there three times now, and I will be back. So if that isn't a recommendation, what is? "Authentic?" Well, they do have tongue and tripe on the menu, which is good enough for me. And the servers never flinch when I order them in my street tacos. I've had the chorizo, tongue, tripe, carnitas, and al pastor. The tongue and tripe are especially good, the tripe cooked with a crunch. Corn tortillas on the thicker side, and of course they use soft corn by default on the street tacos. Did someone say "real" Mexican Coke served ice cold in the bottle?! Salsas respectable and chips warm. They seem to be scared to use too much cilantro on anything, but I think maybe they learned to hold back due to local tastes. And on that note: They have an "authentic" menu page (tortas, street tacos, and a burrito) and pages with more Tex-Mex (or American Mex) offerings. I haven't ventured into the offerings slathered in sour cream or fajitas or anything, but I've seen those dishes pass by my table and they look good. We arrived here at 8:56 PM and looked at the store hours and saw they were closing at 9pm. We figured it would be too late to come in too eat and started to leave when the waitress waved to us to come in. The staff was extremely friendly despite that they were close to closing on a Saturday night. We ordered and the food came out quickly and was amazingly good. I've lived in multiple locations across 4 different states and this is hands down my favorite locally owned Mexican restaurant. Everything I've tried has been excellent, but I'm now hooked on the Burrito Guanajuato and the authentic tacos. I'm also a big Diet Coke fan and love that they have coke products! They've done a great job adjusting to ensure things are safe during the pandemic (they've added plastic sheets between booths and things like that). A great new food truck taqueria just outside of a little Mexican market in Hamilton. They serve an assortment of tortas, tostadas, tacos and quesadillas. The also have an assortment of meat, including chicken, pastor, carnitas, asada, tripa and lengua. The tacos we tried were fresh made with very flavorful meat.
