We sat down and I ordered some lengua tacos while my boyfriend got some birria tacos. I would say compared to some other tacos places their tacos were lacking a bit in flavor. My girlfriend and I stopped by here on the way back from hiking near Gold Bar, and we were both in the mood for some tacos. Taqueria La Bamba was the only place that closed later so we opted to try it out. I got quesabirrias while my girlfriend got 3 lengua tacos. I was told by the server it was $13 for 2 quesabirria tacos, to which I was sketched out because that price is pretty high for just 2 tacos. When it got brought out, the consume and tacos were huge, and I mean huge. Personally, I didn't think it was the best quality quesabirria but it was pretty good value. The lengua tacos were also really good too. The restaurant was empty but it was filled with life, which Mexican music playing and soccer games/news playing on the TV. Street tacos are my go to. Used to get lengua. My current favorite is pescado or fish. Very plentiful, fresh and scrumptious. Douse with red and green salsa or if you feel like more heat, the dark chili oil. Comes with radish, grilled green onions and fried jalepeno. $4 each but so worth it. Always loaded with fish. Hubby enjoys either their chicken enchiladas, pozole and their camarones. Chock full of pork chunks in their pozole and most of the time some pigs feet which he would give me to gnaw on. Comes with cabbage, finely diced onions, cilantro, tostada rounds. 2 meals guaranteed. We also love their side guac. Comes with tostadas. See a lot of Spanish speaking locals getting micheladas. We just like plain bottled fizzy aguas. They usually provide but if not, you can ask for chilled glass with lime and salted glass rimbs for free. Non pretentious casual. Small bar sometimes music is a bit louder than typical but not too annoying. Decent service they do lots of to go's. Hope they do door dash soon. I like they open daily. Food 4.5/5: We ordered the Tacos with Birria, Pollo, and Asada and also Tortas with Abobada with a side of rice. The taco shells were very fresh tasting, plus the meat wasn't oily and it was tender and well cooked. The tortas was very good, the bread wasn't super heavy and there was the perfect meat to topping ratio. The rice was standard, it was good. Service 5/5: The waitress came to our table quickly and friendly. Even though we did take-out, we were treated as though we were eating in. Ambience 4/5: It was clean, the big booths were nice. I should have updated this a while ago. La Bamba is up and running and has been since last summer. Still our go to place in Monroe for top notch authentic Mexican food at great prices.. Everything has gone up in price but they have managed to keep the menu quite affordable. Friendly service and overall some of the best Mexican food in the area. You can't go wrong. Personal favorites are the huaraches and the enchiladas molé. Just a great family restaurant They do also cater to our Mexican community so the food is not your typical Americanized Mexican food, which for me is perfect. read more

My family went here thinking it would be the exact same as our favorite one in Marysville (has the same name). Their quality of food is not as good. My shrimp not even being cleaned and peeled was very disappointing. Especially for a $30 plate. The shrimp size was also not the same as the one we usually go to either. Alright I'm finally getting around to reviewing this restaurant it's the holidays and it's been busy for me- us so a couple of days ago I had a chance to sample some tacos from here. Now I love authentic street tacos so I went with the tongue and head- cheek meat selection I mean show me what you got I want to get the real deal so the meal arrived and the presentation is good........ but the flavor of the meats was meh I mean it's "good" but didn't separate itself from other restaurants sorry but I'm not saying don't go here I think I'll try other menu items but when I try a Mexican restaurant and they offer traditional meals I want to be to be wowed that's what I'm hoping for, sadly not tonight. The beans and rice are your standard side nothing wrong with them but not noteworthy. Also the only place I've been to so far that has great tostadas de ceviche which is one of my favorite things to eat in the hot weather. Today we went rafting on the Skyhomish river with Alpine Adventures and when we were done came here for tacos! So delicious! I got two tacos de adobada and one of carne asana on *handmade tortillas*. The handmade tortillas cost extra, but trust me they are game changing. Prefer the adobada since the carne had big chunks of fat I didn't like. My favorite were the tostadas de ceviche, which were perfect in the 100 degree weather. My sister got a quesadilla which was massive and delicious and stuffed with cheese and adobada. Probably the best adobada I've had in this state. Everything I've had has been prepared beautifully. Good portions, you won't leave hungry. Staff is very friendly. There is a bit of a language barrier with certain individuals, but to me that just cements the authenticity and is not a hinderence to ordering or receiving your meal. I ended up getting 6 grisle tacos overpowered with onions and a "bean and cheese burrito" with no cheese and soggy onions in it which my husband couldn't even eat. Man, where has this place been all my life? It's worth the drive. At least it was for me. I was hungry (don't judge me) and in the area for a vaccine so I stopped in. So glad I did. I got the chicken mole. Best I've had in a long long time. It was chicken breast and off the bone. Normally I really don't like Pollo en Mole off the bone, but this was really good. The chunks of breast meat were close to shredding from being tender. The mole sauce was frankly the best I've had in Washington. It was a large portion. The rice and beans were both really good, too. It would easily make a BIG lunch for a normal person. A biggish lunch for one with a hearty appetite. So naturally I decided to get two tacos too. (Did I kindly mention not to judge me?) One lengua (beef tongue) and one tripas (tripe). Both were PACKED even for small tacos and were well worth it. And then on my way out, I just had to have an horchata. For those who might not know what this is, it is a sort of spiced rice milk drink. When it's bad, it's a watery, unsatisfying waste of calories. But when it's done well, damn, it is a nectar of the gods with balanced sweetness, texture and spice. These guys gave me the best glass of this I've had in Washington too. The lady who helped me could not have been nicer or more pleasant to interact with. I'm looking forward to my next excuse to go to Monroe. You can bank on that. read more

Everyone that came in or was here, immediately spoke Spanish and the cashier was friendly to each. But, as soon as me and my wife stepped up, she didn't even look us in the face. Very cold and rude.
