I've heard their breakfast burritos are amazing, but unfortunately they aren't available on weekends. We arrived right at 8:00 a.m. on a Sunday, and the parking lot was already full. We ended up waiting about 15 minutes for a table, which really wasn't bad at all. The inside has that classic diner feel, our server was wonderful, and the restaurant is very family-friendly. I ordered the eggs Benedict, and it was delicious. My kiddo got the Mickey Mouse pancake, which was an obvious hit! When we walked in we were greeted by a few people and our party of 5 seated quickly in a full restaurant. I wondered if it was ever a Mexican restaurant because of the interior architecture and vibe, but perhaps not. I know that it's "fusion" just in the sense that it's American and Mexican breakfasts. Anyways, it was already getting busy at 9am on a Sunday so beware, but that goes for any brunch spot worth its scramble. But I was so happy with my veggie omelette because the veggies actually had flavor and were clearly sautéed and seasoned separately! Great people and great service! We stopped by after a long tiring hike craving for some brunch food and this place did not disappoint. Incredibly soft roll topped with an amazing crème! This disappeared quickly. Huevos Rancheros (4): Great tomato flavor. Kind of wish the tortilla was a little crispier but it was still a solid dish. Philly Omelette (5): the beef was like a ground beef hamburger patty but it was seasoned nicely and tasted really good. Kids meals were a pretty good deals for what you get. Don't judge a book by its cover! Yes, this restaurant is attached to a gas station. Yelp reviews do not fail you- searched Yelp recommendations after driving up to Steven's Pass. We were starving! Fusion food can sometimes be tedious depending where you go and the recipe. But despite the name here it's more like a Mexican dish OR a diner dish as opposed to both elements combined on one plate. But in the case of HWY 2 Fusion Diner I don't think it would pose too much of a problem if that were so. The food we ordered here was wonderful! Steve had some marvelous pancakes and while I often have an active sweet tooth in the morning and could easily get something like this I went in another direction and got Huevos Rancheros and really was highly impressed. Perfectly made, just a bit of complexity, fresh ingredients and excellent flavor this Huevos Rancheros I could have routinely. The restaurant is quite popular so coming early, especially on a weekend is very important otherwise you could very well be in for a long wait. It's pretty unassuming from the outside, tucked in the parking lot of a gas station, but the food more than made up for it. Been living in Monroe for more than 4 years and never thought to check this place out till my mom was visiting, saw the reviews and insisted we go for breakfast. The food is excellent, the portions are huge and the wait staff is super courteous and attentive. I'm a picky eater- I had the waffle combo, with bacon, eggs and subbed fruit for potatoes. Everything was great. Husband had the cinnamon roll combo with fruit instead of potatoes (it looked so good I might get that next time). My mom who is a pickier eater than me got the chicken fried steak and said it's one of the best she has ever had. Pro tip - come early (we did) cause this place gets packed! Had the machaca and added avocado and jalepeno with no cheese and the hubs got the tacos chihuahua and added jalepeno. Every request was fulfilled to perfection. Our waitress was AMAZING! She was the most attentive waitress we have ever really experienced at any restaurant. The place was packed on Sunday around 11am-12pm but she kept on top of her tables. I have tried everything from omelettes, crepes, burgers and most recent had the California Benedict. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu honestly. Fusion it is not. But a great value, it is. 75% of the menu is dinner fair and the other 25% is American Mexican. The kid menu is truly a great family value meal. French toast was really good. I now ask myself, why did I not come here sooner? It's hard to find decent places to eat here in Monroe. I got the country fried steak, which was way beyond delicious, and my husband got the enchiladas montadas. All were excellent! The only reason I gave a four instead of 5 was that the service was a bit lacking. We weren't offered more water until we asked for our check and cups were empty for some time after we got our meal. I also ordered a strawberry crêpe on the side, because I was craving something a little sweet. It was very good! The chicken fried steak was good, but both my boyfriend and I have had much better. If you want the best chicken fried steak around, try the Stilly Diner in Arlington. My boyfriend asked for a biscuit instead of toast, and the biscuit was outstanding! Upon recommendation from family, I dined here this morning. I was seated immediately and given my menu. I had ordered coffee and water right away from the woman who sat me (ended up being my server) and got the water right away but had to ask for more ice. Personally, I like a lot of ice in my drinks. She returned a few moments later to take my order and I had to remind her again for the coffee. Also asked for extra sugar packets and cream for the coffee. I ordered their classic breakfast but also wanted to start with their cinnamon roll I heard about from my family that live here. After ordering, coffee still had not arrived and I had to flag someone else down for the coffee. After it arrived, had to flag someone else down for silverware because I couldn't stir my coffee. Fifteen mins or so later my main entree arrived but never got the cinnamon roll I had ordered. Gentlemen who dropped my food off told me they ran out of cinnamon rolls but the server I had never communicated that to me nor did she returned after taking my order to see if I wanted something else. I even communicated my frustration to her on the lack of communication. Not sure if she was new to the industry or just didn't really care since I was a solo diner. Food was delicious, but the 3 star review was because the service left a lot to be desired. Personally, I have been in the industry for nearly 30 years and there are some basic service things that should be automatic. Like having silverware on the table, drinks promptly delivered, little item requests filled, all within a timely manner. Granted she did apologize on my way out the door and I conveyed again that the lack of communication was my biggest disappointment. Her body language conveyed to me that she didn't want to hear what I had to say thus making her apology sound insincere. Name on my check said Naomi, but I'm not sure if that was the waitress name. She was a young Spanish speaking woman with purple streaks in her hair. They also did offer if I wanted a complimentary French Toast in its place for not having the roll but I declined. I guess we are the outliers in these reviews. We stopped in for breakfast and had to wait about 30 min to get a table, which usually means, you are going to be getting some amazing food. NOT the case here. My fiance ordered hueveos rancheros and they were terrible. They were soooo bland, he took 2 bites and stopped eating. The server, while nice and efficient, never asked how things were or noticed he didn't eat more than two bites. My Monte Cristo was pretty good and thankfully there was enough for my fiance to have some so he didn't leave hungry. We will definitely skip this place next time we are passing through. read more
