This was the first time I'd visited any Mr. Pickle's. I'd heard good things. They were friendly when I entered. I'd looked at the choices the previous evening and asked for the Italian, Whole. I didn't know what bread to order and the person making the sandwich said that the Dutch bread was the most popular, so I asked for that. She pointed to a board with a number of items, which didn't all correspond to the Italian, but I just asked for no mayonnaise. I paid for that and a regular drink for $14+, which seemed a bit much. The sandwich was ready by the time I paid. For some reason, they prepared it for me to go, even though I'd already put my things at a table. Someone came to clean that, as they hadn't cleaned it or some of the other tables. I got a cup of Mountain Dew and sat down. The sandwich was tall, but not particularly big for the price. The taste was good enough, and certainly better than that other place I visited recently. The sweet bread was odd. None of it made me feel like returning later. Yesterday the company I work for ordered sandwiches for lunch at the Manteca location. My sandwich was awful- soggy and the avocado was old. The meat tasted odd. I ate half of the sandwich but gave up because it was so bad. Almost immediately I started to feel bad. My coworker and I had to drive back to the Bay. By the time we were pulling up in my driveway I had to vomit. I spent all-night lying-in bed sick, making runs to the restroom to either vomit or poop. I had to miss work today and stay home. We love Mr. Pickles sandwiches, and it's our go-to place when ever we are in a sandwich mood. Lately we've been placing phone orders to make pickup easy, and it's been so convenient. They quote us appropriately and food is always ready when we get there. I always find the quality of food is great and they are generous with toppings. My only complaint is the dang parking lot! But if you can snag one of their reserved spaces for pickup orders you're usually in and out quick. read more

I've been to this location 3 times. 1st time I arrived at 5:30, but the door was locked. Someone was inside, and gave me a hand gesture that they were closed. 2nd time, I actually went during lunch time, and I was able to get my long awaited sandwich. 3rd time I went there, I made it a point to get there at least an hour before closing time to make sure that I didn't get a repeat of my first experience, but to my surprise, there was a sign on the door that they had to close early due to an emergency. They don't ask you 20 questions while making the sandwich. The negative : as is typical the meats are hella salty. After 90 minutes your body will want water, and lots of it. I easily drank a liter, desperately, wantonly, after having a sandwich here. I ain't no medical doctor but this can't be a healthy thing. Really great sandwiches. We ordered a Blat in a wrap with extra bacon and honey mustard and Kickin' Chicken with cheddar in a sweet roll. Both delicious and dependable sandwiches.
