We were looking for a light bite to eat and found this on yelp with great reviews. They are cash only so that is kind of a bummer. We probably would have ordered a little bit more but we only had so much cash on us. We ordered the al pastor and asada tacos with salsa, onions, and cilantro on top. We got to watch the ladies hand make the tortillas and assemble the tacos. They came out piping hot so watch your fingers if you are eating them right away. The tacos were amazing. The meats were well seasoned and juicy. I missed out on getting a quesadilla, so if I'm ever in the area I will need to come back for that. If you haven't been here before, I highly recommend giving them a go. Don't forget your cash! read more

Greenfield local recommendation- this is probably the best place for Tacos in Greenfield. Cash only, Counter service (at least during COVID) and everything is made fresh in front of you - including the corn tortillas. All the meats were well cooked and flavorful - but the chorizo and lengua were standouts. The meat to tortilla ratio is perfect (it's only 1 tortilla) and the salsa mixes with the oils and fats of the meat to truly enhance the overall flavor. If you love quesadillas - do yourself a favor and get one. It's an indulgent treat! read more

On a road trip, my husband had a craving for Mexican food, and I found this little hole-in-the-wall close to the freeway exit. The dining room isn't much - small room with a commercial stove and a back room. There isn't even a menu posted. We went to the counter, and the lady behind the register took our order for 2 carne asada burritos then moved over to the stove to make our food. She reminded me of being at my aunt's house... the woman was casually and modestly dressed with a house apron on. She cooked everything herself. There was another woman who came in and started making tortillas by hand, too, right next to the stove! Seriously, it felt like I was watching my aunts cooking in the kitchen. And the food - SO GOOD! The lights were off and the decor is minimal, but the tacos were out of this world. The three women prepared the food so quickly, it was out to us in minutes. This place is soooo good. Upon entry to the restaurant i was pleased to see they take extra precaution for covid 19. My wife had tacos and i had sopes de pollio and some cerveza.it was about 90° so the beer was extremly cold and refreshing. The chicken was seasoned perfectly and everything else tasted so fresh. I speak a little bit of spanish and the lady that took our order spoke a little bit of english so everything worked out perfectly. I was very happy with service and food. Downtown Greenfield definitely feels like it could be the home of some authentic Mexican food - the businesses are mostly Mexican. I decided to stop for some tacos. I was impressed that the corn tortillas for the tacos aren't made till you place your order. She pinches off some masa and makes each tortilla by hand. Order at the counter, grab a bottled drink and find a table. The kitchen is filled with equipment that doesn't seem to be used (hot dog warmer, vertical grill). It's a fairly large place with a TV and plenty of places to sit. I was the only customer. I had two tacos, al pastor and lengua (tongue). The lengua was seasoned well and tender. I didn't like the watery salsa though (and it wasn't spicy). The corn tortilla is small and softer than usual. You get one tortilla per taco. The al pastor consisted of small, slightly crispy chunks of pork. I thought it was a bit too salty and too dry. The flavor/marinade didn't stand out. Tacos are $1.50 with your choice of meat (al pastor, asada, lengua, cabeza, chorizo), onions, cilantro, salsa and a lemon wedge. Tortas are $3 and they also have menudo, burritos, quesadillas, and chile rellenos. If they improved the salsa, this place would be really good. read more

This place is solid. On a trip down the 101, made a stop by Greenfield to grab some tacos. I have never stopped by Greenfield, it's always been just another sign on the freeway, sort of in the middle of nowhere. The people who work here are super friendly. Not much English is spoken, but enough to order. Tacos will run you a buck fifty each, which isn't too bad for the amount you get. Order at the counter and pay when you're done eating. I love the al pastor tacos on with everything on it. The corn tortillas are super fresh and delicious. The meat is so flavorful and filled with flavor. The food was fresh, and the family running it was friendly- they even let my dad hold the baby! I couldn't make heads or tales of the hanging "menu", but the lady behind the counter pointed at something and I took her suggestion. Turns out they were piping hot, fresh, delicious chile rellenos! Win. We were all very happy with our meals. They even have Tamarindo Jalisco- my favorite! The place is clean and well lit, and what it lacks in ambience it makes up for in good food. Counter order, about 8 tables in the whole place, but we were the only customers there in the middle of a Friday. Don't expect a lot of English in this place, but they were super friendly and nice and we got along just fine with my broken Spanish and their English. I stopped here on my way from Berkeley to Santa Barbara. I felt like I had driven too far and ended up in Mexico. The whole of Greenfield is rather empty, but all of the stores and restaurants that I saw were Mexican, most of them with all of the lettering in Spanish. I got here around 12:45pm, but there was no lunch crowd. I was by myself. And it actually seemed like this place was just preparing for opening later. My favorite taqueria in town! They make the tortillas for your tacos when you order. So fresh and delicious. Only down side is the taco only comes with one tortilla, not the traditional two. So for someone like me who can eat a lot, it can get pricey because it takes more tacos to fill me up :) Other than that, this place is amazing. It's like I'm back eating in Mexico. read more
