This is a nice small restaurant serving delicious food in King City. There are murals on the wall, and art reminding you of Sinaloesa. But most importantly the staff and owner are very friendly and helpful. We ordered the Octupus tostada, Shrimp and Octopus meal in red sauce, and a giant mango margarita with tamarind on the rim. Everything was delicious, and the cook came out to ask if the food was OK, he saw my wife licking the tamarind sauce off the margarita glass, and he brought a small cup of extra out for her. Went here during our overnight in King City. The place is pretty cool! Located right in the heart of King City downtown. A local owned place and very friendly family operated. Locals come here to dine so it got the best good. The prices are very reasonable and pretty tasty. Ordered the octopus & shrimp tostada and grilled shrimp with octopus in some kind of red sauce and a very tasty mango margarita. The seafoods are fresh and generous portion. We stopped on the way from Los Angeles to Monterey at this restaurant, not knowing what to expect. It turned out to be one of the most delicious foods. I've had an all of my trip to SoCal. I ordered the shrimp Tampequia . You can tell that the shrimp was very fresh and the sauce was out of this world. The spiciness was just on point. I asked for both tortilla corn and flour and they were both excellent.. they were also one of the few restaurants that were open late I needed to use the restroom and they allowed me to pass through the kitchen. Came across this restaurant while temporarily working in King City. It's literally the best Mexican food I've had in years. Hosts and cooks make you feel welcome. I've been greeted with a smile every time I come in. I've tried different plates however I only took pictures of these 2. Mariscos are delicious with their own unique taste in the sauces. I tried an asada plate today and this was honestly the best asada I've had. The meat was arrachera and it is literally Grilled. Which is what "asada" means. Not your typical diesmillo cooked on a griddle which eventually boils instead of grilling. I tried machaca for the first time, which seems to be a dry beef mixed with veggies and eggs. Finger licking good!Atmosphere is very mellow, where you can enjoy good food and a good conversation with whoever accompanies you. No loud music like most other places. Stopped in King City to charge our car and eat a bit. Found this restaurant and we are glad we gave it a try. We had a carnitas burrito and a bean and cheese burrito. These are more traditional Mexican style burritos rather than the Mission style burritos we get in SF. I love both, they are just different. I really like a classic simple burrito, just meat and salsa wrapped in a warm flour tortilla. It was good. The bean and cheese was decent but some of the cheese wasn't melted enough. The salsa was nice and spicy and the chips were fresh and crispy. The horchata was nice and refreshing. Service was efficient and friendly. Highly disappointed! I went through Yelp, TripAdvisor and Google reviews. I looked at photos, number of reviews, etc. So bummed. Friendly service, but the food was awful. The rice...never seen that on a Mexican restaurant...boiled rice with vegetables...not even rice pilaf. The beans tasted burnt. The enchilada sauce was pink...that's a first! And not much of it. Right off the bat the place is very small limited seating inside, but they did put a tarp outside for outdoor dinning. Place is very chill to hang out with friends or have a quick bite for lunch. The enchiladas were good but I feel they were missing something. I have yet to try other dishes in their menu. The drinks are another thing those are amazing. I was picking up some essentials and things at the local Safeway and asked one of the lovely ladies working there where is a couple good places to eat and she suggested this place and another one which is almost next store. This one had a photo of the Torre de Mariscos cocktail so I picked this location. Food came out super fast. Food is excellent too and enough to feed 2 people . The carnitas were dry and way over cooked, and found some fish bone like stuff in my salad and the margarita glass was hard to handle due to the salt dripping sauce all over the glass and not tasty. No hominy in the menudo soup either. But the service was great and they did take off the carnitas platter off my ticket at my request. The waitress was very friendly and impressed me when she took the order of a table of 13 without writing anything down and getting it all right. I was surprised to see such a large group walk into such a small restaurant but she happily accommodated them and quickly arranged a long set of tables with a smile. I wish them the best. read more

Holy Michelada my friend! This is one of many regional Mexican cuisines in our town of King City and has a party vibe inside and out. What nice folks! This disappointment earned minus five stars for their terrIble service and attitude. Traveling a long distance, we hadn't eaten anything since 7 AM and stopped here for dinner on our way back to Texas. We ordered two plates of food and a large guacamole after waiting forever to place our order. We almost walked out it took so long. Hindsight. Once we were served, there was no guacamole, and then we turned invisible. Ran out of chips, water and salsa. I couldn't eat my food without water or salsa. After 25 minutes of being ignored I took the plates up to the counter and told them I could not eat without salsa or water and their service was awful. They became defensive, said I'd already had two bowls of salsa and they were busy. Wrong. You apologize and make it right. I took my cold good to go and paid the check. I told them I always tip 25% or more but server did not deserve it; you must earn it, and this gal didn't. The lady said, "We don't want your money here." They do not deserve any customers with that attitude. Two rejected gringos. Pitiful way to treat customers. Cant get out of this state quick enough. read more

We were referred to this place for their shrimp tacos which were supposed to be "eyes rolled back into your head amazing", but we didn't have that experience at first bite. They were good, but not eyes into my skull good. The tacos were on corn, had jack cheese on the tortilla, the shrimp cooked in butter and then topped with red onion. I think I'd rather just have "street" style with cilantro, yellow onion and a lime. The shrimp cocktail was bountiful and good with generous portions of avocado and an entire lime but the broth/juice somewhat lacked flavor (like maybe just un-doctored tomato juice - nothing more salt, lime and hot sauce couldn't fix, though. In this part of King City there are Mexican restaurants lined up door after door; it's gotta be a Guinness book of world records for so many mex rest per square mile. So I think since I'm rarely in town, I'd just try a different one next time to keep exploring the area. read more

A nice way to break up the drive from the Bay Area to San Simeon is a stop for lunch in one of the towns along highway 101. I suppose it can be hit a miss unless you have the Yelp app. We chose to stop here Yelpers like it, and so did Kevin who had recently eaten here for a group dinner. This restaurant is small, the colorful murals make the room warm and inviting. The service was prompt and friendly. A small parking is an added bonus. I ordered two tacos. The asada taco had a lot of meat. The tortilla was severed wrapped in paper. That seemed a bit odd to me until I unwrapped the taco and saw that it was filled with enough meat to fill a small plate! The meat was well seasoned and there was no gristle. Alas, there was no fat; the meat was a bit dry for my taste. I like juicy tacos. The seafood taco was excellent. The shrimp were succulent and perfectly cooked. The bit of salsa on top was the perfect compliment for the shrimp. I enjoyed a tamarindo soda with the tacos. Every plate of seafood that passed by the table looked really good and made me wish I had ordered a shrimp plate. It was a very nice lunch and I would stop again when I cruise down 101. read more

My husband and I love authentic mexican food so we came in and was immediately given dirty looks from the cashier and the customers here of Hispanic. I ordered a few shrimp tacos and it was not good. The shrimp was cooked in butter or something oily and placed in the tortilla with a lot of guacamole which didnt not sit well with my palette. I'm normally not that picky but I couldnt eat it because the buttery and creaminess of the taste. I will not be coming back due to the food and the customer service here.
