I'm never disappointed when I come to eat here. I had the camarones a la diabla and agua de jamaica. Both were delicious! The sauce on the camarones is spicy but not overwhelming and the shrimp are big. Their aguas frescas are also great. I finished my drink and thought about getting more, when our server came by without me saying anything. It's like she read my mind. She was very attentive and kind. My daughter had the kid's quesadilla and an agua de piña. She kept saying how delicious it was. Toddlers are picky, so the fact she said that of both things is genuine. My husband had the camarones al mojo de ajo and he stated they were some of the best he's had. I feel like this is a hidden gem, and we will try to come more often. read more

Fantastic location for dinner. Clean and friendly seating area. Was raining so outside area closed. Food was great. Our first visit so we only got to sample a few items. Prices are fair and portions are appropriate for the prices. Burritos and tostadas were sampled on our trip as well as a guac side order. All made fresh. Chili Verde was my test for a quality restaurant. Was made perfectly. Our order was for pickup. The friendly waitress took our orders quickly and offered us chips and salsa while we waited. Nice touch. The guac side order was beautifully presented in a round chip presentation with the guac in the center. Something I have not seen from expensive Mexican restaurants. Took 10 mins for all our food to be made and we were off. Was traveling and stayed at the Yanks RV park nearby. Look forward to eating here again when we return to the area. read more

We just spent the day at the Arroyo Seco Gorge (which is amazing by the way) and we all started craving some Mexican food. We were driving through Greenfield and looked up the different restaurants around. Not many popped up and El Michoacano was the first Mexican restaurant listed so we decided to try it out! Woah! So, so good. It's a little hole in the wall on the corner. You walk inside and it isn't very big, maybe 10 tables or so. You seat yourself and they bring you a menu or look at the menu on the wall. There is a fridge in the corner with a selection of beers and soft drinks. They also have a fountain drink machine. The menu has your "normal" Mexican dishes plus a lot of seafood options. We were hungry so we ordered a lot of food. Chicken fajitas, Chile Verde, 7 Mares soup, Abalone tostadas, and ceviche. Everything was amazing and fresh. Some of the best Mexican food I've ever had and the prices were reasonable. If I ever find myself in Greenfield again, I will eat here again. read more

I thought Greenfield was the place you go to experience an earthquake since it has around 600 earthquakes a year... but can you imagine my delight when I discovered El Michoacano? Here you can experience amazing mexican sea food. I had the prawns, garlic in butter with rice and beans. The prawns were fresh and tasty - but the garlic!! The garlic fried in the butter with the prawns!! I enjoyed the garlic more than the prawns. The chef has an interesting way of cooking the garlic - he does not peel it. I have read recipes where the directions say, "Don't peel the garlic" - but I always chickened out. "How barbaric!", I thought. Well, I think there is a reason for cooking the garlic in the peel... it tastes better! They also serve a deep fried fish and a number of seafood cocktails (non-alcoholic okay?) which look interesting. Next time I go, I'll have one of those seafood cocktails and a deep fried fish. I saw other patrons enjoying the fish and cocktails and when I saw what they had my head and my stomach said, "We are coming back to Greenfield!" read more

Found this little local gem on our way home from the SLO area. It's right off 101 and plenty of easy parking in the lot. We had a little of everything, including some tacos and burritos. All the food was delicious and authentic! Service was prompt and friendly. I really enjoy small spots like these. Michoacano is a gem! Excellent meal! We were debating between McDonald's or something different for a stopping point on the long way to socal. I'm so glad I trusted my instinct and decided on this place. Mocajete Michoacano was a bit pricy, but full of flavor with array of proteins. Lengua was the best I had, cooked perfectly to bring out the godly tender juicy and gooey imaginable. I think this place is authentic because it was full and only one other couple than us were gringos. It was all Latino. And all of us looked happy. There is no atmosphere or decoration, but the food more than makes up for it. Everything was fresh and delicious, the service is friendly, and the choices were wonderful.
