Quesabirria tacos, rice and beans, house lager

We've been on a quest to try every Mexican restaurant within 10 minutes of our house (it's not a short list when you live in Rancho) and this is easily the best. The salsa bar has great options--the rojo and verde are top notch, and I recommend trying the creamy jalapeño salsa. Definitely grab some escabeche while you're over there. Their specialty is the quesabirria tacos, which are awesome (made with corn tortillas so good for folks with gluten sensitivity too). I ordered three and it was a lot of food. Definitely could've been happy with just two. But they came with two things--a cup of the stock the beef is cooked in (think au jus but lots more flavor) to dip your tacos in, and a moderately spicy habanero type salsa that has a nice vinegar component to balance the grease and cheese of the birria. Definitely try adding escabeche (pickled vegetables) to your quesabbirria tacos because it'll bring out more of the flavors. We also liked the rice and refried beans, and the kids quesadilla was perfectly cooked (and served at a temperature appropriate for littles). I also tried their house beer, a canned lager that doesn't list the partner brewery, but the address printed on the can is 1709 Del Paso Blvd, which Google Maps says is the location of King Cong Brewing Co. Do with tbh at information what you will. It was pretty good. I know folks have their loyalties to corona, modelo, and pacifico, but if you like those you might like this locally produced beer just as much. Don't mix it up with the other taco place across the street. Los Compadres is the real deal.

Food is always amazing, they really know how to season the food and give it that good flavor my go to are always gonna be the quesabirrias and or the asada super burrito super yummy, when we just want something small and quick we ask for camarones a la kora as a botana it's so good they have a next level flavor, the micheladas are so good weather it's alcoholic or virgen, the orange and carrot freshly squeezed juice is amazing to wake you up, service is always amazing as well cashiers are so nice and patient when not knowing what to order. Ambiance 100/10 as well always have some good music on waitresses always checking up on us. In my top 5

This was an Uber Eats delivery, but still tasted fresh! I ordered the Shrimp Burrito. I of course wish there was more shrimp, there was prob about 5 in the entire burrito. However, it's tasted soo good, so they still get some points lol

    A tasty burrito.

Taqueria Los Compadres has a good location, plenty of parking, and friendly atmosphere. The restaurant has a big open layout with a long counter off to the left hand side. The counter extended to a decent but somewhat messy salsa bar. It looked to be popular with the customers because there were a lot of spills that hadn't been cleaned up. It included some nice crisp chips, a variety of hot and mild salsas, radishes, and a tasty cactus salad. My favorites were the avocado and white sauce/salsa which I've never had before. I ordered a bottle of beer and a carnitas burrito. It came to about $15.00, which isn't too bad in the price department. The beer was nice and cold the burrito was bo joke. I attached picture so you could see the size. It was full of meat, rice, cheese, beans, and tomato. It was a little hard to eat because it wasn't wrapped real well. It got a little fally-aparty after a few bites. Overall a pretty good restaurant. There were a couple of hiccups during my visit.

TLDR: PAPER FOUND IN BURRITO. Overall taste was fine... Super burrito with chili verdes: randomly found strip of paper inside. Not the best experience. Super burrito with carne asada: not folded well, burrito fell apart at end 2 enchilada plate with shredded chicken and red sauce: too much red sauce. Beans hardened (also 30 minutes old that might be why). Sourcream weirdly yellowish but it was fine. Chicken very dry. Sauces are pretty watery Los compadres on fair oaks is better

My number for wonderful outdoor dining.

Food is very bland and lacks taste. Also they use very cheap meats. Lots of gristle and fat. Salsa was like catchup with spice.

It's a nice restaurant, with seating on the inside and the outside. That's good, because they can. get busy. The employees are very friendly It's a very large menu, ranging from things such as your standard tacos, tortas, and burritos, to things such as seafood cocktails, molcajete, which is a Mexican stew, to posole. They have Menudo on the weekend, and also on the weekend, they have a person right in the dining room, making fresh, hot , tortillas on the spot. There is a small chips and salsa bar. The chips are very good, as are the salsas. My favorite has always been the avocado salsa, creamy with just a little bit of a kick to it. Today, I decided to go simple. I had a shredded chicken, super nachos, and a cheese quesadilla. The quesadilla didn't look like much, but it was very big. There was a lot of delicious Monterey Jack cheese in it. They were very generous with the cheese. The nachos didn't look very big, but they were. The chicken was tender. And delicious, and I loved the guacamole and the sour cream. The salsa had a nice little kick to it And as I mentioned before, the chips were fantastic, not greasy at all. For all I got, the price was very reasonable. I will continue to come back. Thank you.

I have also become obsessed with their carnitas... I have been there at least 3 different times just for their carnitas. Two points upfront - as far as I can tell, this is not in any way connected to the Jalisco Grill…read morerestaurants found elsewhere in the area. I thought maybe it was and that's why I dropped by... nope. Second point - it definitely reminded me of eating in Mexico, so I guess points for being authentic? I genuinely mean that... not trying to crack a joke or anything. Wobbly table and chair, Mexican game show on the TV, random flatware, decorations, extensive almost prison-like gating and fencing built around the building... it seriously reminded me of several of the places I've eaten at in Mexico. Anyway, on to the food! I was hoping to get a Birria plate, but the hostess informed me that they were out of that, so I chose the Chile Verde plate as a Plan B. The verde sauce had good favor... nice little bite to it. The rice was pretty much perfect, and the beans were very good too. Unfortunately, what should have been the star of the show... wasn't. I'm talking about the meat itself... a good Chile Verde should be nice and tender no matter what cut of pork was used since it's slow cooked for a good bit of time. Pork shoulder is commonly used... but Mexican food in general is designed to be flexible - making cheap cuts taste awesome is the whole magic behind Mexican cooking in the first place! The meat used in this case was rib meat. Short ribs. Was some sort of law broken? This was the first time I remembered having bones in Chile Verde - certainly THIS many bones. No rule broken, though... remember what I said about flexibility. Unfortunately, the meat was dry and tough too. I seriously doubt it had been simmered for any period of time... probably didn't spend much time in the verde sauce either. I really don't like writing a review like this, but honesty is honesty. I can and have made much better Chile Verde myself. I'm hoping this was just a bad day, and I hate to judge a restaurant... someone's business and livelihood too harshly based on a single visit on possibly a bad day... but it is what it is. I see that there are some good reviews here, so there's hope! I'm not writing off another visit. I would love nothing more than to give this review a significant upgrade!

I busted out my trusty Yelp app and searched for Mexican restaurants open at this hour. Hey, you can't go wrong with a 4.5 star rating! So I hustled over. Luckily, even though the restaurant was mostly set up for karaoke at this hour, the kitchen staff were happy to serve me. I asked for 3 taqueria tacos with everything on them. The meats were incredible. The salsa was spicy. The price was excellent. And I must say that the service was spectacular. It can be intimidating to enter an ethnic restaurant without any company, and especially at a late hour in an unfamiliar neighborhood. I walked in with a bashful smile and it was reciprocated. Even the guests that were singing karaoke were smiling and friendly towards me as I dined and enjoyed their entertainment (there were about 12 adults, having a great time). The speakers were loud at this hour, so I was thankful I had ear plugs from my motorcycle ride. I'm sure if you dine earlier, say before 9:00 on karaoke nights, that they play music at a normal volume. I recommend this restaurant if you want to enjoy some authentic and delicious Mexican mariscos (seafood) or any other traditional Sinloan/Mexican cuisine. I look forward to returning!
