Great Mexican food! Very well appointed and decorated restaurant! You may even see a live chicken at the front door! Excellent Queso Fundido with Chorizo! Great quality food with great service! Clean and pleasant and beautiful restaurant.

It clearly says "No Reservations", so either you DO or you DON'T

We came in on a Sunday (Labor Day weekend) to celebrate my daughter's birthday. We didn't know they take reservations, (I went to their website and it says no reservations or call ahead)!!! I screenshotted this and showed them. So they wanted to know if we would sit outside-but it was 101° and that wasn't going to happen with my parents in their 80's. We were told it would be a 30-45 minute wait, but it was like 15-20. After that everything was okay, the food was good and the service was okay because it was so busy. It was loud in there, it was hard to talk to people down the table-only next to us or directly across. She always wants to go here for her birthday since she has every year since she was about 5. If it was me, meh, take it or leave it.

That restaurant on the hill in Fair Oaks as you drive on Sunrise! This was me convincing my husband to go. Nothing like seeing a restaurant for years as you drive on a street but you never go. Alas, I finally did it! Queso, margs, chips, and a chili relleno. The queso fondido gave definitely the cheese stretch. It was okay but when cooled down it was a battle to eat. Marg on point and so was the chili relleno. It can get busy and parking is limited. I'd go back and my husband said he would too! Side note: rice was on point!

Solid Mexican spot with a nice ambiance. Good salsa and bean dip to start. No frills Mexican food, good combo platters. Came during the holidays and it was busy but service was very nice.

I would never have found this gem if the couple we were with hadn't suggested it. It turned out to be really good. The portions are huge and the steak on my fajita platter was simply melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Now, we will bring others!

Great traditional Mexican food. Great indoor classic booth, and outdoor seating. Staff are personable. Always enjoy the carnitas, although they are a little dry this time. The green chili is amazing and moist. The steak is tender. It can be busy on weekends and weekday; the individual staff can be hit, miss, or amazing

Enjoyed the food! Love their lil' outdoor patio. Love their chicken theme. My carnitas were very good. Chips n salsa were standard fare. Rice & beans also okay. My carnitas plate came out sizzlin'! Service was good. Parking can be sus/ iffy but you should be okay. Wife and I had our wedding reception here 5 years ago so Carmelita's will always have a special place in our corazons!

Here is the positive: the place is beautiful! Full of colorful Mexican art and decor. The service is extremely sloooowwwww. Every time I am here, it is this way, whether they are busy or not. The food is ok not great. Best dish: mole enchiladas There are definitely better Mexican restaurants

We stopped there on the way home from an appointment and really enjoyed everything from ease of parking, being greeted and seated quickly to the ambiance and food.. I loved it so much we are having my Birthday dinner there next week.. I just made my reservation at the table we dined at and cannot wait to try the Tres Leches Pistachio again!

Came in tonight to have date night with my husband I got the shrimp ceviche it was god but it need some more salt but our service was good and our food was good, my husband got the pulled beef enchiladas with rice and beans and I got a blended classic margarita with no salt and he got a large beer. We also sat on the patio area in one of the high tables. And I love how the restaurant was also all decorated for the day of the dead. We will continue to come back here the food is so good an the service the last few times has been great

The food was well seasoned and delicious, with very generous portions. Plus you start with chips and salsa and bean dip. The service was fast and friendly. The inside is very cute with decorations and plenty of tables. There's also an outdoor dog-friendly patio

We stopped into Carmelita's Mexican Restaurant one evening and were told there would be about a 30-minute wait for indoor seating, but they did have spots available on the patio. Even though it was 102 degrees outside, the patio was comfortable enough to sit and enjoy the meal. Our waitress was very friendly and upfront, letting us know they were switching systems and food was taking a little longer than usual. She came by a few times to apologize for the delay, which we really appreciated. The menu isn't very large and was missing a few of my personal favorites, but there were still some solid options. We ordered nachos, the fajita burrito, and a combination plate with a taco, enchilada, and chile relleno. Everything was hot, fresh, and full of flavor. The fajita burrito stood out -- great portion size and absolutely delicious. Overall, the service and food made up for the longer wait. A good spot if you're looking for quality Mexican food.

Wonderful ambiance. The restaurant is located in a great, elevated spot and filled with beautiful decor inside and out. Rosa was our server and was so friendly and efficient. She made us feel like family. The food was delicious and was a nice, large portion. I ended up taking some home for tomorrow. I, also, got a slice of tres leches cake. The slice was giant and so fresh and delicious. I saved half of that to take home, too. Now, I can enjoy another Carmelita's meal tomorrow. My best friend got flan for dessert and said it was on point. A+ all the way!!

There was lots of parking right in front of the restaurant that made getting inside super convenient. There was plenty of room for us to sit at a large table with our babies in high chairs & strollers nearby. Inside the cafe is decorated very nicely. The staff were so kind and welcoming too. I ordered a mocha and the sweet cheese crepes. My mocha was the perfect balance of sweetness and chocolatey! I savored every sip. The real star of the show though, were the crepes. They were perfectly soft but with a slight crisp on the outside just like I like them. The filling was sweet but not overly and was well balanced with the slight bitterness from the berry topping on the crepes. Overall the ambiance, food, and accessibility make this a great spot for brunch! Will definitely be coming back.

There is also a side area to eat, however there were a number of flies buzzing around, which made it unappetizing (this was kept my review from being a full five stars). The indoor area is a mix of dark woods and faux plants, which creates a relaxed atmosphere. As for the food, there was only one plant-based (vegan friendly) option for me: the cilantro lime avocado toast. This came topped with micro greens and pickled onions, and with a side of potatoes. The portions were very generous for the price and the food was delicious. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time and the staff were kind. I also ordered an Americano that was good. This spot is like a little hidden green jewel in Citrus Heights. I hope more businesses fill out this complex so they can continue to do well.

I came during a busy hour which wasn't idea but didn't affect anything in regard to the taste of what I got! Typically I like to find a spot that's quietly busy so if you're wanting to do the same I would try to come when it's less busy as I found myself slightly overstimulated by the business and seeing all the seats filled up which otherwise is a good sign! The Banana Dream Match caught my eye so I ordered it immediately along with an Avocado toast + egg ( extra cost). They give you a buzzer for the food and you have to find a corner to wait in that's out of the way and pick your food up by the kitchen. The vibe was very open and I liked the different seating options as well as the abundance of outlets. I ended up eating outside to get away from the busyness and the I was in the middle of talking when the taste of the Banana hit me. The best. Banana matcha I've ever had. Which I didn't expect because I've tried so many but what I loved most is that the banana flavor was sweet but tasted like real banana and the matcha flavor was still present. The banana flavor wasn't just at the top either it was top to bottom so every sip tasted the same making it soooo good!! The Avocado toast was good as well a little on the tangy side but I loved the egg. Great spot when it's less busy which would make parking easier as well but glad I stopped in to find my new favorite matcha spot.

I mentioned Fair Oaks Brew Pub as an option I found on Yelp &, as a local, he said it was a great choice. We almost immediately scored street parking only a few doors down. I'd never been to Old Fair Oaks Village before. Looking around, the little town center was more reminiscent of a historic gold country town up in the foothills than Sacramento suburban sprawl. The cutesy charm of the surroundings extended to Fair Oaks Brew Pub itself. Greeted as soon as we walked up, we chose to sit out in their inviting patio area on a perfect Spring day. Our server was along shortly. She was friendly, helpful, & the right amount of attentive. For brew pub fare, we both chose the Risky Burger. Essentially a Western bacon BBQ variation of their regular cheeseburger. Sides were upgraded to onion rings. For the brew, I got their Chicken Foot Pale Ale. Everything was up before long. The Risky Burger was outstanding. Crispy bacon, tasty onion rings (in the burger, as well as on the side), gooey melted cheese, & a perfectly cooked patty just juicy enough to turn the last bite or 2 of the whole burger into a bit of a mess. The Chicken Foot Pale Ale was decent for style, though a little old school in terms of recipe/ malts/ hops. Still, a refreshing pairing for the Risky Burger. All in all, Fair Oaks Brew Pub was a great spot to grab a bite & a beer in an unexpectedly scenic pocket of suburbia.

The service was fantastic from start to finish. We had the chance to chat with Julian himself along with a couple other staff members, and everyone was incredibly kind, welcoming, and helpful. The stars of the meal were definitely the breakfast wrap and the bacon, egg & cheese croissant. The breakfast wrap had the perfect balance of scrambled eggs, bacon, seasoned potatoes, avocado, and cheddar cheese. Everything worked together without any one ingredient overpowering the others, and the salsa on the side was a great addition. Honestly, it's one of the best breakfast burritos/wraps I've had. And the croissant... wow. It was absolutely delicious. The eggs were perfectly cooked, the croissant was light, flaky, and buttery, and every bite was packed with flavor. The Nutella crepe was also very good. The crepe itself was perfectly made, though there was a little more Nutella than I personally prefer. Next time I'll probably ask for less, but that's purely a matter of taste. The avocado toast was the only item that didn't quite hit the mark for me. It was good, but the honey flavor dominated the dish and drowned out some of the other ingredients. I'd love to taste a little more balance there. Overall, the food, atmosphere, and genuine hospitality made for a great breakfast. We'll definitely be back, and I'll be dreaming about that croissant until then.
