While I was in Texas, I wanted to find authentic Mexican food. I am not a fan of Tex-Mex. I got the shrimp cocktail and avocado and cheese tacos with nopales. The food was good, but unfortunately, fries come in those kinds of tacos. Everything but the fries was good. Even more so, they had a crystallized pumpkin candy that was very tasty. Taqueria Lupita is almost like a whole in the wall. I see it when I drive around but never went in until about two years ago and have been frequenting since. My friend introduced me to this place after a volunteering event and recommended the al pastor torta, and it changed my life! Their al pastor torta comes with grounded pork meat, avocado, and melted cheese. The cheese pull is always fantastic. They also give you pickled onions and cucumbers to go along with it to combat the carbs. I have tried other tortas, but no place compared to it. It is a little heavy, though, and I always take a great nap after eating one. I have gotten their tacos a few times, but it's okay to me. Staff is also always nice. Overall, I definitely recommend getting the al pastor tortas! It is the best thing on their menu and will fill you up! read more

The barbacoa tacos on corn tortillas were amazing. Freshly made salsa that has good spice and flavor was a plus. It was pretty busy at late lunchtime on a Friday. Not a lot of tables, but very friendly service! If you get the barbacoa tacos ask them to add the cactus! read more

My fave taqueria from BMT to San Antonio. It is all about the papas fritas they put on their tacos. That and their green salsa bring it to the next level. They also offer excellent quesadillas and menudo. My family and I have thoroughly enjoyed everything we have eaten here. Whenever I visit my mother, it is always a must.
