I called the restaurant and the only option was to credit me for what was missing. I appreciated the credit but would have more so appreciated them sending me the missing item. Second, the empanadas we tried were very oily and salty. The meat flavor was good but i couldn't eat these again given how unhealthy they were. A baked option would be better. FInally, the tacos. The restaurant is named for tacos after all. The carne asada tacos were pretty good. 4 out of 5 stars. Fresh ingredients, good quality meat. But the taco shell of the gringo disintegrated before a bite was taken. They do have a lot of taco options so that's a plus if you plan to visit. Given the above I will stick to other local options when a taco craving hits.

The staff are very friendly but a bit scattered. It's not enough to be completely bothered by it, just to make note. They seemed to be unfocused. The chips and salsa that they give for the table were pretty good too. LOVE the smokiness of the salsa. My date ordered three separate tacos: fish, al pastor and I think chorizo. He said they were okay, nothing that really stood out to him but he did finish it. They're filling though so three was a good amount for him and he can eat up to 5 sometimes if the tacos are really good. I ordered Mole. Mole is a very difficult dish to get down. I've had really really good mole that's been stewed for hours, close to half a day. I even have the thick paste concentrate that friends have given me from Mexico as gifts cause I love Mole so much. Usually, the sauce is close to a gravy consistency, it's smokey from the chiles, not a strong heat, a hint of sweet from the chocolate, savory etc. The chicken should also be to a point where it's fork tender, you do not need much to take the meat off the bone. Tepache's mole was alright. The sauce was a little thinned out, leaned salty and made it hard for the other flavors to come through. The dish was also supposed to come with tortillas and I didn't realize till I put it in a to-go box that I wasn't given them. Twenty-five dollars for mole is a steal because it is a difficult and time consuming thing to make, but only if it's REALLY GOOD. And this one was just okay. Overall though I still want to come back and try out other menu items. I wouldn't suggest the Mole, but I am curious about other things.

The blackboard showing what specials are available showed "hoy tacos al pastor" So I took the recommendation and ordered two, along with a Carnitas taco as well. The Al Pastor was delicious and spicy with small slices of pineapple to give it a very balanced flavor. The Carnitas was salty and delicious and paired with just enough lime and cilantro to give it a full flavor. The burrito was absolutely monstrous. The lovely woman in the truck told me that the rice was still cooking so I would have to wait for my burrito, however, I told her I didn't want rice so she filled up the remaining space in the burrito with more meat and beans. This thing had to weigh at least a pound and a half. It was absolutely delicious. The meat was soft and tender and the beans were cooked perfectly, and there was just the right amount of cheese as not to overpower any of the other ingredients but yield a soft creamy texture. Do yourself a favor and make it a point to come to this taco truck. It is well worth it!

Refried beans were served in a separate ramekin and were also very flavorful. Additionally served with the entree is a cheese tortilla. Let me tell you, the food is a delicious as it smells. I love little hole in the wall places that have great food, and this one of them. It's a very unassuming place that doesn't stand out but the owner is so friendly and just wants you to enjoy his food, and you will. I have had quite a few things on the menu, but the carne asada entree is great. The owner even had us try the beef and potatoe empanadas and now we order them when we get there. This place has become my little comfort food spot down the street.
