Since our last visit here was so great we decided there would be no better place to take them than Alebrije. Our server was very friendly and attentive; his name was Angel. Although Angel was awesome, we did have some issues with our overall experience. First of all, there was a very large party in the back right side of the restaurant with lots of kids in it. We wanted no part of that and requested to be seated on the opposite side of the restaurant so we can talk without all the commotion and management would not accommodate our request because they said the AC was down over there. Secondly, something horrible is going on with sewer gasses seeping its way into the dining room. This is something that needs to be addressed promptly. The third issue we had was with the menu. The menu stated that the (MIX) Fajitas we ordered would include Shrimp, Beef, and Chicken for $25, when we received the bill it was an additional $2 for the shrimp, when we brought it to the attention of Angel he said the shrimp was $2 more, we did complain but nothing came of it; in my opinion they need to clarify this in the menu because to me MIX means a variety of all the meat options. Finally, the last issue is the price for margaritas. The well large margarita with nothing special added is $18. I've had much larger margaritas for $10 and $11 elsewhere, not sure where they get off charging so much for a well margarita. On the upside, our fajitas were delicious, they had a much larger mix of vegetables when compared to our last visit; however, the skillet was not sizzling when it arrived, thankfully it was hot. Although I wasn't satisfied with the size of the margarita, it was very tasty. They could do a better job on the chips and salsa situation. They claim that if you ask for extra then there is an upcharge, they haven't charged us both times we've been here when asking for more. If they did, I would be a little more upset that the chips are served stale versus fresh, they could easily remedy this by warming them before sending out to alleviate this issue. I would come back again but honestly if that sewer smell is still their next time around, I won't be back and wouldn't recommend them going forward.

I can't believe a whole year to get over here and we live right across the street…read more Let's start out with the chips and sauce of the chips are amazing thick hot and fresh salsa is flavorful and just the right amount of hot spice. I got the fish tacos that came out hot and delicious. Scott got the fajitas with chicken steak and shrimp out of all the fajitas I've never seen one come with a big piece of cooked cactus on top. It was so good! We went here on a Saturday evening and it was not busy at all which is not a good thing It did have live music and we enjoyed listening to and play all sorts of unique music on his acoustic guitar. I think this is my new favorite Mexican restaurant I definitely will be back!

The green sauce is nice and hot, (jalapenos boiled to make a sauce), as the customers came and left the chef had to refill the squeeze bottle several times! The two ladies, (pictured) ordered the Pupusas and the chef handmade the patties right then and there, hows that for freshness?? The chef spoke very little English...but was it wasn't a challenge in ordering Lots of local customers stood in line to order and then waited while their hot food was prepared, (always a good sign), don't expect fast service, this is Latino slow food at its best and worth the wait. We ordered the chicken tamales to take home for dinner and they did not disappoint. Tamales were filled with chicken. olives, chick peas and yucca or potato. We managed to remember the green sauce and doused our tamale with it..YUM YUM! I found that some people are not comfortable with Food Truck dining...all I have to say is I have found some of my best meals on food trucks...especially on the streets of Mexico and Guatemala! This place is a great place to dine and to baile the night away. The one time I did eat here, service was not the best. They took forever to take care of us and it felt like they forgot about us. Dancing nights had a different experience. Bartenders are always attentive and quick with the drinks. Dancing goes until 2am and there is a cost to get in. There are two DJs with one in each room. They do offer hookah. If you're wanting some good tunes and to dance the night away, make your stop here.

We first experienced a Molcajete in a restaurant in Mazatlan, Mexico and fell in love with it and all of its ingredients including the cactus. This Molcajete at Cocina Maya was soooo tasty. Served in an actual Molcajete which is made from lava rock and it holds the heat very very well. We shared this between the two of us and still had a decent amount to bring home with us. The Elotes was very tasty and the corn was nice and firm and it was perfect. Service was friendly and attentive. The dining room is light in colors and there is a lot of light that shines through the windows. This restaurant is a good distance from our home, and well worth the drive to it. Unfortunately, the restaurant experience was pretty disappointing compared to that first impression. The space itself feels a little sterile, although the service staff was friendly and nice. We ordered the al pastor and chicken tacos, and I also tried the tamales and my friend's fish tacos. Unfortunately, everything felt a bit dry and under-seasoned. The masa on the tamales in particular was very dry. The drinks were just okay as well, they tasted pretty weak compared to the cocktails we had at the Yelp event. It's a shame because I really enjoyed what I tried at the event and went in expecting a lot more. Maybe we just caught them on an off day, but based on the difference between the two experiences, I left pretty disappointed.

More of a personal preference they were good, but not my favorite flavor. They have lots of specialty beer and they know a lot about each of them. I was able to pick up one that I haven't been able to get since I visited that brewery. Unfortunately it's no longer available as the brewery can't keep up with the demand. But I was happy to get to reexperience that beer again. No, I understand what you're thinking. You pull up on this sketchy looking gray building that used to be a gas station but with no pumps. It does look plain gray on the outside. Do not let that dissuade you. The food prep area is kept very clean, neat and organized. The only downside is I would much prefer to eat many of this food for dinner and they stop at 4 PM. They offer other things here as well, so be sure to check them out.

There were four huge shrimp in each taco (3 tacos) so it was about 3/4 of a pound of shrimp or maybe even a pound! The kids got chicken tenders, black beans, refried beans, rice, white queso dip and macaroni and cheese. They all kinda shared and of course didn't finish their food. I think they got full on chips and salsa. The margarita flight I had has many choices for flavors. I got kiwi, coconut and blackberry. All were very good but all very sweet. They put a lot of syrup in there. I think you'd be better off just getting a regular margarita or one flavored one because the flight cups are smaller than typical margarita glasses. So if they're putting one squirt of syrup, it's probably too much for that little glass. So next time I'll just get the coconut margarita. They have churros and what not but we opted against dessert. The kids wanted ice cream from the place down the plaza (Violet's- it's great! See my review). We boxed up our leftovers (I couldn't eat all three tacos; I had one left, plus my rice and beans) and paid the tab. She was nice to split it up by family and I'm sure that was not easy! I did not use the restroom but most of us did. The restrooms look like singles but they're not. The women's has two stalls behind that door so don't get caught waiting in the hallway. Go inside. My friend's kid didn't wanna wait or couldn't wait so they went straight to the men's, thinking the women's was a one stall. Hahahaha. Parking is hard to find because it's a busy plaza. We had to park all the way down by Fishbones where the parking lot is a lot bigger. They have a front part of their restaurant which also has some bar seating and then that more quiet back room where we were seated. I would recommend this place. It's a little pricey for Mexican food but it's really good. (Also it's hard to mess us Mexican, I get it). I was impressed by the amount of shrimp in my tacos and the amount of pork carnitas and chicken fajitas they put on their platters. They also have quite a selection of flavors for their margs.

The menu indicated that the fajitas came with rice and beans, so I was surprised to see an extra charge on my bill. In addition, some of our friends had some type of surcharge added to their bill. I have ordered fajitas at many restaurants, and I have never encountered a situation where the rice and beans listed as part of the meal were subject to an additional charge. I asked my server about it and she said I'm sorry, but beans and rice are extra. I paid the bill without further disputing the charges because I did not want to make an issue of it at the time. However, I believe these additional fees should be clearly disclosed on the menu so customers can make informed decisions before ordering. Unfortunately, this experience has left me disappointed, and I do not plan to return. The friends who accompanied me also expressed that they will not be returning.
