I am not a fan of Tex-Mex so when I was pointed to this taco truck and the gentleman told me that THIS was the truck, you best believe I power walked over there to see if it was all that hahaha I ordered the PASTOR street tacos and they were perfect! The tacos are super reasonably priced, perfect size, and has a punch of flavor. The pastor has bits of pineapple that gives the not over cooked meat a hint of sweetness and was topped with cilantro and onions. For an additional kick, they include hot sauce and pickled sliced onions with chopped fresh jalapeños in separate bags. Everything complimented each other to make that 1st bite and every other bite after a flavorful experience! You have to order at least 4 of these tacos! Less than 4 just will not do and you'll regret it later hahaha The Pork and Cheese Pupusa is also a hit along with the sauce and cabbage salad! FYI, they don't sell drinks there but they are in front of a Chevron so after you put in your order and have to wait, head inside to buy a drink. When I'm in Texas, I finally have a go to truck!

    Saturday night taco run

This place appeared on my yelp app while visiting my sister and we decided to give it a try. I am a big taco fan, so I gotta say these tacos were alright. Idk if they are always the same but tonight on a Saturday night it was not so busy. The taco line consisted of 5/6 workers, went from heating up tortillas to putting your choice of meat [ pastor, fajita, chorizo, which where not hot ] to finally putting them on a plate with cilantro and onion. If I could have it any different I would like for the meat to be hot with a bit more salt and add some grilled onions. The salsas are also alright, I believe they are missing a little bit of salt and a little bit of spice. And perhaps a friendlier service wouldn't hurt. To sum it up I would say it was ok to try, but I doubt I will visit again.

    Soooo good!

We always see a line at this pace so we decided to try it. They take card, they're fast, friendly and don't skimp on the meat. We usually go to hwy 6 tacos but I think we've found our new spot. Street style Mexican tacos $1 Fajita, trompo, chorizo Tortas (Mexican sandwich) (didn't catch the price) Meat and cheese quesadillas $4 Pupusas Their salsas are tasty and I asked for cheese on my tacos as well as the norm of onions and cilantro. They were so good. The cheese is the same the use for the quesadillas, so it melted to perfection.

I had went here for tacos since I have been craving tacos like crazy. Decided to come here and they are ok for street tacos from a taco truck. The meat was good but the tortillas could have been better. Is good for something last minute. I had gotten 5 tacos de pastor (pork). I would probably come back if I wanted something last minute.

My wife and I just want good quality and value with some sincere & kind service; that's all. Nothing fancy and special treatment necessary, just good old fashioned hospitality and good food. We believe we have found it this Sunday afternoon! We found them on the reviews and it looked promising so we decided to give them a try. The moment we walked in, we could tell Taco El Patron was different. The restaurant was bright, clean and very inviting with their tastefully decorated walls to their comfortable seating & table arrangement. We were greeted by a very pleasant waitress named Ashley and she and Veronica made us feel at home from the time we let them know it was our first visit to the time we left feeling high satisfied by the awesome food and first-class service. The menu was simple but gave diners many different ways to customize their food - that was a big deal to us. The chips and chicharron were delightful with their amazing bottles of superb salsas! My wife went with the asada (steak) and I couldn't decide so I asked Ashley to bring me ALL six of the selections from the special tacos section and that's what she did with a giggle saying no one has ordered all them, so they even took a photo of that massive plate of tacos and all the tasty sides! I felt like I hit the taco lottery when the platter came out and because the service was just as amazing and outstanding as the food. I had a wonderful time trying each one of the expertly crafted tacos and was so impressed with each and every bite. The prices are fair & reasonable and that's honestly a bonus since it's hard to find value for your hard earned money these days. My wife and I felt like our money was well spent and our patronage was very much appreciated. With that being said, you and your family should not waste anymore time with other trendy restaurants (you know who they are) and come to Tacos El Patron where you will hit the taco lottery like I did with amazing generous homemade style food served by a staff that treats you like family. Great Job, Ashley, Veronica and the entire kitchen crew at our new favorite taco restaurant! Check them out and tell them David & Amy sent you.

If you're looking for authentic Mexican food--not Tex-Mex--this is the place. As San Diegans now living in Houston, we've been craving the flavors we grew up with, and this hit the spot. You can truly taste the quality and freshness of the ingredients in every dish. The pork in chile verde was incredibly tender and packed with flavor, and the green salsa on the chilaquiles was absolutely delicious. We also ordered the menudo, and it did not disappoint it was rich, comforting, and full of flavor. One thing that really stood out was the owner, who stopped by several times to check on us, make sure we were enjoying every dish, and see if we needed anything. That level of hospitality made the experience even more memorable. The restaurant is clean, casual, and very family-friendly, making it a great spot for any occasion. We'll definitely be back, and we've already recommended it to our family and friends.

Since it was my first time here, I ended up ordering 1 chorizo and 1 asada taco, churros, limon aguas, and my friend got the asada taco as well and a hortchata! Since it was super busy (especially on saturday night) it was about a 30 minute wait foe our food but it was well worth it! They hand out free chicharrones and they were super crunchy and a nice snack while we waited for our food. The limon aguas was super refreshing especially in the summer heat and the horchata was really good! We sat at the counter top that overlooks the kitchen. I love that the open kitchen concept so you can see them making your food right in front of you! Everything smelled so good so I was excited for my food. I love that they give radishes, cucumbers, and plenty of limes on the side. I definitely love all of the toppings and the more the better! I tried all of the salsas and the salsa de chile de arbol was by far my favorite! super spicy but had so much flavor. The chorizo was good but a little dry for my liking. I did just want to try it so I can try more than one flavor but I think I would get it again as a breakfast taco with egg instead. The asada was my favorite of the two so much flavor and plenty of meat! I was content with these 2 tacos but I could have definitely eaten more if we didn't order churros as well! The churros came with classic condensed milk and dulce de leche which is just carmelized condensed milk. The churros were crunchy and warm on the outside and had a chewy texture like mochi on the inside! Super yummy and not too sweet! I liked both sauces and would definitely get this again. Overall, I had a great experience and I will be craving the tacos until the next time I can come back! I can't wait to try a lot of their other menu items as well. Definitely recommend!

The menu is short but includes most of the classics. I had the Seafood Tacos and my wife had the Chicken Mole Enchilada. The tacos were surrounded by a flour tortilla (corn is also available) with fish that can be grilled or steamed. Packed with flavor from the onions, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and more I enjoyed every last bite. The plate included rice, beans, and sliced red onion. Delicious My wife loved her selection as well. The serving was big enough to take home what was not consumed allowing her an extra day to enjoy the mole. We also ordered a side of guacamole which was served as a huge rounded scoop on a plank. Don't get me started on the chips we used to eat every last bit of the guacamole. When we told our waiter, Jose, how much we liked the chips he gave us a bag to take home! I had some today and they were still crunchy with a hint of salt. Now to drinks: my wife had the house Pinot Grigio and I the house margarita which I ordered frozen with no salt. I'd wanted to try La Cocina for a while for that reason and those plans finally came to fruition. You walk up to a counter that has all the ingredients for taco making right in front of you. The guy asks you how many you are going to want, and if you want flour or corn, so he can let them know in the back to make your tortillas fresh. About 2 minutes later, out came our tortillas. I ordered 3: one with eggs and bacon, one with some kind of egg and sausage combo and one non-breakfast taco with fajita meat. The fajita taco was just okay, but the breakfast tacos had me thinking about them for hours after the fact. They aren't very big, so if you're a growing boy like me, I'd aim for 4-5 of them. The guy behind the counter tried to guide us into his suggestion of 2 each, but I jumped in and said make it 3 for me. If I could go back in time, I would have done 4 and made them all the breakfast variety. Both breakfast tacos were straight bangers from another dimension. All the sauces were great and none were too spicy. I might have to return to this place sooner rather than later because I really did think about it the rest of the day. I love you, La Cocina.
