CYPRESS, TX / TACO / 01-11-22 / DINNER +The spicy salsa is fire. +None of the taco meats were dry and all were full of flavor. +At $1.50-2.00 per taco, this joint can feed the whole family and help you survive the 2023 down economy. -Cash only. -Evening hours.

Very delicious Tacos! The prices as well. This is gonna be my go to place now. Make sure you have cash!

These mini mini Tacos just imo too small I don't care if they $1.75! The corn a was canned corn with hardly any flavor! Not enough of the hot sauce or cheese whatever! This location is very very busy so close to road and lots of drag racing! I literally was afraid a vehicle come crash and kill us! They do accept Zelle payment. Oh and there are vagrants (beggars) hanging out watching you kinda creeped me out since we had our young daughter! Yeah I don't recommend if your super hungry nor if you value your life! Maybe pick up and Go but still tiny tiny tortillas! Legit 3"!

You can see how tiny the tacos are next to the slice of lime

I was there just a week and a half ago. The tacos were small tortillas, but still a reasonable size - and they were properly filled with meat cheese onions and cilantro. They were really good. ----Today I buy 20 tacos I pay $34 for 20 super tiny baby tacos. The tortilla was a 3 inch circumference. Who wants to eat a 3-inch taco. Then they forgot my cheese which I paid $7.50 extra for. I don't know what they're trying to do but they need to go back to their normal size tacos. They didn't even put my taco together. They put the onion and cilantro in a bag. I had to put it on the tacos myself.

    Barbocoa, Trompo, and Bistec!

Not much needs to be said except that these are $1 freaking tacos!!!! This is a great place to come to pick up a handful of tacos on the cheap and take off.

I'm from the Rgv. Nothing compares to the Mexican food down there because it's so close to the border. Since I moved up to houston trying to find decent bistek tacos has been a challenge. I got 4 bistek tacos and a quesadilla on flour tortilla with bistek. It was delicious. The meat had so much flavor it reminded me of back home.

Very shady side of town. The parking lot had lots of random people hanging out and asking for money. Food was good though.

Inside it is a one room eatery with counter service. My first visit was to try the Birria Burrito for $16 with the meal delivered about 10 minutes later. It consisted of their Birria meat cooked for 4 hours mixed with chorizo, cheese, rice, beans and sour cream all wrapped in a large flour tortilla seasoned with their special red colored seasoning. With the meal came a cup of consomne'. Guy Fieri would say, Welcome to Flavortown! It was delicious. The Birria beef was so tender and the flavored flour tortilla with that proprietary red seasoning they use was perfect. It was a very filling meal and well worth the price. So much so, I thought about it the next day. Another visit was to try one of their specialities, the Quesabirria for $14. This meal consisted of 3 grilled and crispy corn tortillas seasoned again with their special red colored magic dust. The tortillas had the delicious Birria meat and cheese inside and I again loved them. The tortillas are only slightly crispy and the meat, cheese and tortillas memorable. This meal also came with a cup of consommé for dipping. Another nice thing about eating here is the customer service. The lady at the counter was very friendly and helpful. The guy bussing the tables acted more like the owner than an employee with his helpfulness and the actual manager came out to check on us. Impressive for a counter service restaurant. Tacos Dona Lena deserves its reputation as one of the best restaurants of its kind. Incredible food and employees all at very reasonable prices. When I think of tacos and burritos, this place is what comes to mind!

Since it was my first time here, I ended up ordering 1 chorizo and 1 asada taco, churros, limon aguas, and my friend got the asada taco as well and a hortchata! Since it was super busy (especially on saturday night) it was about a 30 minute wait foe our food but it was well worth it! They hand out free chicharrones and they were super crunchy and a nice snack while we waited for our food. The limon aguas was super refreshing especially in the summer heat and the horchata was really good! We sat at the counter top that overlooks the kitchen. I love that the open kitchen concept so you can see them making your food right in front of you! Everything smelled so good so I was excited for my food. I love that they give radishes, cucumbers, and plenty of limes on the side. I definitely love all of the toppings and the more the better! I tried all of the salsas and the salsa de chile de arbol was by far my favorite! super spicy but had so much flavor. The chorizo was good but a little dry for my liking. I did just want to try it so I can try more than one flavor but I think I would get it again as a breakfast taco with egg instead. The asada was my favorite of the two so much flavor and plenty of meat! I was content with these 2 tacos but I could have definitely eaten more if we didn't order churros as well! The churros came with classic condensed milk and dulce de leche which is just carmelized condensed milk. The churros were crunchy and warm on the outside and had a chewy texture like mochi on the inside! Super yummy and not too sweet! I liked both sauces and would definitely get this again. Overall, I had a great experience and I will be craving the tacos until the next time I can come back! I can't wait to try a lot of their other menu items as well. Definitely recommend!

I'm from Katy; this east part of Houston is very new to me. I don't know where to go for food here, but I for sure now know where to go for Trompo Tacos! The trompo here was bomb! After going, I can confirm the trompo looked even better than the pictures. Shout out to the chef cutting up fresh trompo I ordered some tacos de trompo to go, with avocado. I don't like cinnamon but the horchata was addicting and it paired so well with the food. My friend got their Melon Agua Fresca and he said it was really refreshing as well. The gorditas were stuffed and they were so delicious, the cheese was melting and the bread was warm and not dry. The Quesadillas were my favorite. You put both the red sauce and the green sauce on it, a lot of lime juice, and it's perfect. I forgot to order cilantro on mine but they do give you it at no extra cost.
