I thought the food was great. I had a burrito and a torta. The service was great and they offered me a water because it was sunny and very hot out. I saw that they have more hard-to-find items like tripa and lengua. Menudo on the weekends. They also had a wide variety of flavors for their drinks: cantaloupe, mango, etc. This place is authentic. What can I say, these tacos weren't bad at all. I wasn't a fan of the chicken tacos at all. The Chicken was very bland and dry. The beef fajita tacos were okay also.The carnitas were my favorite, very juicy very flavorful next time. I will get them on corn tortillas instead of flour. We've been coming to this small local taco place at least once a week. However they forgot our streak burrito even tho we paid for it. Someone told us this was the best taco truck around so of course we had to go and check it out. I believe it was $61 for 13 tacos, horchata, and a coke. Had some chicharron tacos as well as carnitas. The tacos were good, I don't think it was the best I've had because of the meat but they were still good. They have a lot of seating here for a taco stand. They also have some talking parrots which didn't talk to us when we went. The woman did speak English, just order your food and wait for to pick it up. They were out of a few things when we went but not a big deal. I recommend this place it wasn't bad at all, but I wouldn't say it was the best I had, and a little more pricy than the rest of the places I've been. read more

Listen, this place isn't here to impress you. It's a taco truck next to a chicken coop that's open 24-hours a day, what can possibly be expected? I find it hella charming to see the chickens pecking around while you eat, but in the eyes of food health and safety? Not so sure. I visited around 2PM on a Monday and only waited a couple minutes, so I didn't experience the monumental wait time others are complaining about. The gal that took my order did not seem pleased to be alive, but again, what ought I expect? Took maybe 5 minutes tops for my tacos. I got a chorizo (full menu all day) and two chorizo as well as a cuppa corn. Good, solid, a teeny bit small. The cilantro and onion was perfect to have but could have used more. Salsa is okay and served in little dime bags, which made me laugh. I tried the flour today and they were good! Pillowy and soft. I'll try the corn next and definitely some al pastor. Someone who reviewed this mentioned it's good but I didn't see it on the menu otherwise I would have ordered it. The weather was good and I got to eat outside among the fowl and highway 6 traffic. It's a unique experience, and considering I can come any time, day or night, I could see this becoming a solid staple in my repertoire. read more

My daughter has ate here before and said they were good. It is just a taco truck, but hey I'm good with that. There was 3 ladies working and we order some fajita beef tacos, pork and fajita chicken tacos. I was told it was fajita chicken not shredded chicken. When we got hone I found out my chicken tacos were shredded with tomatoes. You know me--no tomatoes!! My husband is such a sweetheart he traded me his beef for my chicken. It's near a major highway near a gas station tucked away in a gravel parking lot. Taquieria Ruby is a large food truck where on one side is a drive thru and the other a small outdoor seating space. In the back are random large metal cages with a variety of exotic and not so exotic birds. The food here is amazing! I recommend the barbacoa tacos and ask for the green cactus sauce (it's SO GOOD!). A Mexican Coca-Cola (with real cane sugar) goes perfectly with it. Taqueria Ruby may be the only reason I'd visit Houston again. read more

I originally visited their location in Prairie View. I had no idea about this location, which happens to be their first location. This location was very nice and it also had a large space near the truck. The food was made very fast but it was extremely hot and fresh. I ordered two lengua tacos and two chicharron tacos. The rating is solely on the amount of time you have to wait outside for the tacos. My coworkers RAAVVVEE about this place. I usually do not sway from my regular but decided to give it a try. Left on lunch break and it literally took an hour to wait in line, order, pay and wait.. in the sun.. I think they go pluck the chickens from the coup and that's what takes so long.. I'm not even excited about eating them at this point. Lunch is over.. Update; it's a hour wait for 5-6 tacos regardless of you call in your order or order at the window. They will quote you 20 mins, give them a little wiggle room And they will still tell you an additional 20 mins at the window. read more

Don't expect a building of any sort. I passed it and had to bust a U. I went around noon on a Thursday and was the only customer when I got there. Shortly thereafter, four men came to order. I ordered 3 tacos - barbacoa ("Mexican BBQ, they call it), lengua (tongue), and al pastor (spicy, griddle-fried pork). $6.50, she said, so I guess that includes tax and perhaps they round it (for prices, see the picture of the menu I posted). She asked harina or maiz (flour or corn), and I asked I'll try both. I asked for to-go but changed my mind and ate on the cute tables - they were almost "surprisingly" clean (hey, it's an outdoor trailer park setting, I am allowed a little prejudice). I saw the jug of horchata after I had ordered the tacos. "La horchata... es hecho de polvo o no? (is it made with powder?)" "No, es natural," said the cashier with a pretty smile. "Entonces, una horchata." It's a grain-based drink (not alcoholic) served cold. This one had just the right amount of cinnamon and sugar (not too sweet). It unfortunately only comes in one size - 32 ounces - this would mean I have to exercise will power not to drink it all, but one can expect so much from herself. $2 And out came the tacos. I also appreciate that they serve the tacos with two big lime wedges, two salt packets, packets of green and red sauces, and toothpicks. And use nice, thick napkins. The tacos are small but pack enough heat and nutrition (or spices and fat, but let me enjoy my meal). The al pastor had spent just enough time on the griddle to have the pan-frying-singed texture but was not overcooked throughout. Of the three I tried, it had the most flavor, which I doused with even more sauces and lime juice. The lengua had a beautiful, soft texture, but I was not a fan of the flavor - in fact, it still had a little bit of gaminess to it. The barbacoa, too - great texture, not as much flavor as I would have liked. Yes, I understand that that's what the salt is for. 3 stars for the food/price ratio. Certainly a super sweet staff in the cooking trailer - and a cute, eclectic atmosphere of tropical birds, not without the rooster whom I fed tortilla. He won't eat the corn tortilla and neither will I next time. read more

If you are hungry in the morning, lunch time or even past midnight... this 24 hour taqueria is always there for my 2 am taco cravings with my Agua grande. This taqueria is not like your typical little truck, no. They actually have a seating area covered or a little boat to sit in. The little boat is nicely insulated and does not feel like a sauna. This is my boyfriend's #1 ranked taco stand. So when I visited, we made sure that we made room after our actual dinner to get a post dinner taco. They have a couple benches for you to sit and stare at people eat while you drool and wait for yours.. but since it was cold we ate in our car. You can tell a place is going to be good by their hot sauces. The green spicy sauce came in little baggies.. You know like the ones people put their cocaine in? Probably because they were trying to say that their stuff would get you hooked like cocaine. It was the right amount of spicy that makes you drink a bottle of water but not enough to burn you taste buds so you can still taste the delicious lengua meat :P read more
