I've never had mocajete before and I was amazed how large the bowl that it came in. It was hot and steaming. It came and the flavors had a nice stewed tomato broth. Steak was seared, shrimp cooked nicely, and the green onions had a good seared from the fajita hot big bowl. I don't know how to compare this since this was my first tome to try this. But, I liked it.

Unfortunately, the pieces were really tough, and even with a sharp knife, they were hard to cut. The flavor overall was good; I just wish I could've eaten them when they were soft and tender. The other highlight was the fresh homemade corn tortillas that came with the whole chicken I purchased. The chicken cost $23.00, which is expensive, but it was definitely worth it. The smoky flavor was delicious, and the tortillas were great. The last thing I'll mention is that their salsa bar had a nice variety of choices. I sat at the bar for nearly 20 minutes and the bartender ignored me the whole time -- no greeting, no heads-up about the new policy, nothing. Had someone just told me, I would've sat in the dining room from the start. No signage, no note on the menu, no acknowledgment at the bar. All around, a disappointing experience. This is what a $17.99 pozole looked like after I was charged an additional $1.99 for extra hominy, for a total of about $20. It had no meat at all, and the extra hominy I paid for was barely noticeable. When people order takeout, it's usually because they're in a hurry. Customers shouldn't have to check every order before leaving to make sure they're getting what they paid for. This has happened more than once, and it's very frustrating.
