Today while in Dayton, Ohio With Kayla and the grand babies, Saige & Deacon we opted to have lunch at El Riacho Mexican Restaurant. I actually located them with Google maps app, and we were very pleased with our choice. Saige just r Enjoys the chips and salsa which she rated a 4 because it was not spicy enough. I had a unsweetened tea With lemon And lime along with shredded chicken lunch burrito with beans and rice. Kayla had a medley of steak, chicken and shrimp burrito bowl and Deacon enjoyed Chicken Rice with plenty of melted queso cheese. Kids had soda and Kayla a diet coke. This place serves some of the best margaritas I have had-strong and not too sickly sweet. The vegetarian combo plates are always good, if a little pricey. Our waiter has always been just the kindest and very quick with the service. The queso is the more liquidy kind, which isn't terrible, but would like it to be a little less runny. My father raves about the tacos and I've had the vegetarian fajitas and also found that to be tasty. Overall, the food has been standard Mexican fare-consistently good, not out of this world amazing. Checked this place out with my family a few weeks back. Service is fun and friendly, margaritas are good, and the chips and salsa are exactly what you'd expect at a family style Mexican restaurant. However, my meal was a bit disappointing. I tried the steak burrito and unfortunately the steak was dry and chewy. I'm definitely willing to give them another shot, but I wouldn't try the steak again. This is clearly not their forte. read more

Hubby and I visited El Riacho this afternoon. We were immediately greeted and seated at a rather large comfortable booth. Warm chips and salsa were brought to the table. We started with an empanada appetizer and hubby ordered the tongue tacos and an a la carte enchilada. I had the Riacho fajita which has chicken, beef, and shrimp. Both us us were quite happy with our order and the atmosphere remained comfortable and enjoyable. We will most certainly return. read more

Great selection of good home style Mexican food, consistently prepared. Not overly salty or spicy, like some chain restaurants but always flavorful , and always fresh. You're greeted with a basket of warm chips and freshly made salsa and they make the BEST Golden Margarita I've ever had. The friendly service is always on point, food is served in an appropriate length of time, and although it has a small footprint, they can still accommodate larger groups of 10 or 12 by calling ahead. Seating is comfortable, and the decor is culturally correct. Favorite dishes include fajitas and also their Tacos deluxe with your choice of beef, chicken, shrimp, and tilapia. One can't overlook the Fajita Bowl as a delicious entree . The dish is your fajita favorites blended with a delicious cheesy rice. It never disappoints. If I could give it 10 stars out of 5, I would. The food is always top notch and the drinks are strong, which I like. The staff and owner treat us like family and have welcomed us in ever since we moved to Fairborn. I highly recommend the burrito Colorado with grilled chicken and dip you chips in a side of their refried beans. If you get a few drinks there they will even bring you out a free shot of tequila after your meal! Tip the staff plenty because they are amazing and are always super friendly. If they have a bad day, you would never know because they never take it out on their customers or each other. It's just a wonderful place to be and a great place to eat. My family and I eat there at least once a week. To anybody interested, give it a shot! The environment is great, the people are great, and the food and drinks are great. I really want to like this place, due to my rating back in 2014. This restaurant was a favorite of my coworkers and boss back then. However, it's almost 2018, and rating this place 3 stars is generous. 2.5 Stars - There's nothing about this place that is any different from the typical chains around here like El Toro and El Rancho Grande. (This is the main point, as all those places typically rank 2.5 to 3.5 stars anyway). - My dish was soaked in butter and salt. I ordered the shrimp and vegetables as a means to have a healthy(ish) lunch. This was pretty unappetizing. - The portion of the beans and rice were very small. I'm talking four small forkfuls each. My dish was $13.99... Who normally leaves a restaurant like this hungry? While I'm not usually one to gripe about portion size, I'd really like enough rice and beans to go along with at least half my meal. Like I said, I used to be fond of this place about four years ago. While we won't be back any time soon, we might check it out in a year or so to see if it's doing better. read more

I was driving from one patients home to another while working. I needed to grab something to go real quick so I popped in today. I'm very bummed out!!! I ordered a fajita bowl, with cheese sour cream and a coke. I was in a hurry to make it to my next job so I didn't have time to look it over before I ran out the door. I paid $19 and even tipped a extra dollar because they seemed slow. When I got back on the road, I noticed my drink was leaking all over my cup holder. So I had to toss it, plus I was left with a flooded drink holder. The food was cold and I only had a 15 minute drive, there was no cheese at all like I had asked for, the chips were stale. I had paid extra for the side of sour cream and cheese but there was none at all in the steak bowl. Moral of the story: I will never go back there. And I would suggest to others never going there. I have just moved back to Fairborn. Have placed two to go orders. Told order would be ready in 10 minutes. Both times, the orders were quickly produced. The front of the house was very on top of orders and very friendly. The food was outstanding and delicious. True Mexican. I had cheese enchiladas, rice and beans, first and carnitas tacos second. Both were great. I also ordered chips and salsa. Love both. I have to admit the outside doesn't look like much, but you must give it a try. Great reasonable prices as well. read more

I can't believe this place was basically across the street from me and I didn't even know it. I've just drove by and looked right past it a hundred times. Great Mexican food and at decent prices. The servers were good too, they weren't obtrusive but were there when we needed something. The salsa was excellent, just the right amount of spiciness. Lived in Fairborn for three years and had never set foot in here until I went with some coworkers. The prices looked pretty reasonable. I have never had Carne Asada so when I saw a picture of the steak, I jumped at the chance. It was at least 10oz of meat. It was cooked to order. It was only $10. Those three things make it a winner in my book. The beans and rice that came with it were great. It came with white tortillas with the intent that I would cut up my steak and put it in the tortilla, but I didn't. The chips were fresh and made there. The salsa was above-average. read more

The service has always been fast and attentive when I've been to this place. The food here is some of the best Mexican that I've had. They have a chicken tamale which is rare. Most Mexican places I've eaten at only have pork in their tamales. The chips and salsa here are probably my favorite of any of the various Mexican restaurants I've been to in several cities. Worst I've ever had! I just moved to the area and have been looking for genuine Mexican food. This was a let down. We ordered several items from the menu and every single one was disappointing. All of the tortillas, both corn and flour, are store bought. The tortilla chips are either store bought or extremely stale. Every dish was bland. There was zero spice, let alone seasoning of any kind. The guacamole was even lacking flavor. How are you going to call yourself a Mexican restaraunt and have bland food?! This was very inauthentic. Sat for another 10 minutes as the filled orders for walk ins. Instead of telling drive through orders to park and bring out their food there was a line of cars behind us stuck for almost an hour. The two stars is because my food was good. My dinner companion went home and threw up, but she may have the flu. Or something. We have eaten there countless times over the last three years or so. Literally once or twice a week at one point. So, we go tonight and a guy that has waited on us multiple times over those three years is a total jerk. He took forever to get our drinks, longer to bring more salsa and never did bring us our checks. We had to go get them. I asked if he was stressed. No response, but he did completely skip giving my friend her change. Until she mentioned it. So don't judge me, but he didn't get a tip. Mainly because when I went to politely ask someone for more salsa, he snatched the bowl out of my hand, brought out TWO new ones and refused to let me take them. I don't know what his problem was, but he was beyond rude. Even if he was having a rotten day, that's not an excuse to be an ass. read more

Hands down -- best Mexican food in Dayton! My favorite is the Loco Pollo (yum!) but most everything is tasty at El Riachos, especially the chips, salsas and $2 - $4 margaritas. Even our fussy kids enjoy the food. Super family-orientated service. Highly recommend it! read more
