    Barbacoa Tacos w/ chips
    Kimari J.

The Barbacoa tacos were EXCELLENT! The salsa was puzzling when I first saw it, but it's really just more of a consommé. I used my refried beans to dips my chips in, and it was perfect. The orange and green salsas were both way too spicy, but I did not need them. I only ended up going here, because it was a 3 minute walk from my hotel. The girl that took my order didn't know much English but was VERY sweet and accommodating. It's just a small taco spot, nothing fancy, but very authentic & flavorful. Will definitely return!

Food was good and salsa was really good and spicy . The place was hot inside though and AC was barely cooling. The food was served quickly and made to order. Place is kind of off the beaten path but still good price for value. Maybe better for just pick/carry out next time.

I did not want to eat here after I walked in, but I was with a coworker, and she was ready to leave right away, but neither one of us knew it so we wasted our $$$. This place was not sanitary, looked like somebody's garage, and is NOT a safe place to eat. The staff does not speak English but my Spanish is good enough to order, say thank you and hold a conversation. Got my food and immediately said no. So if you're considering this for lunch or dinner - save your money. There is no atmosphere or sanitary conditions and certainly the food is too $$$$.

I walked in to order to go and the food came out quickly. I got pork and beef tacos along with chicken enchiladas. I really enjoyed it all. When I come back I would probably go for the tacos.

    Tacos de barbacoa so good!

My favorite spot! The best restaurant for authentic Mexican food in Metairie!!! I definitely recommend it been coming here for years !

as authentic as you could get. service is amazing. place is literally hole in the wall but that's where you'd be able to get the best food. Everything i have tried in the menu has been beyond tasty. just like the famous taquerias you would find in Mexico. I don't know why people complain so much about this place. I have been here at least once a week in the past year I have moved here and I can honestly say their tacos are much better than most in Northern California where I moved from. You have to try this place!

This is definitely a hidden gem. Located in the I-10 service road, you might have driven past this place millions of times and not even noticed it was there. This is the place to go for authentic Mexican tacos. They also have green and orange spicy sauces that ate bomb!! It's a great price too. The food definitely makes up for the lack of aesthetic. 10/10

Taqueria Sanchez has locations across the metro area. There is even one right down the street from me inside one of the c-stores on Loyola Dr. This location is on the I-10 Service Rd in a converted trailer. While some people wouldn't give this location a thought because of it being in a trailer I look past it and just think about the food. The food here is downright yummy! Their meats are all tender and flavorful. Selections include tacos, enchiladas, burritos (huge burritos), carne asada plates, menudo, and football-sized tortas (a Mexican po-boy IMO). You can order your choice of meat for any of their dishes. The different meats include tongue, pork skin, shredded pork, grilled beef, bbq pork, or chicken. Service is quick and the prices are reasonable. Don't be scared of the Mexican food being served from this trailer. Your taste buds will thank you later.

Ok I'm being really picky and took off a star because I wouldn't eat inside the restaurant (it's basically a trailer) but it's a great divey Mexican joint! Like Joel M. said, it's right by Colby's Cocktails (bonus that Colby's lets you eat in their bar) so you can't miss it. Right off the Clearview 1-10 service road behind the Super 8. Plus it's open 24 hours on friday and Saturday nights when you have those late night cravings! Unless you know Spanish you will have to point to what you want which is easy because the menu has pictures. I ordered a shredded beef and a pork taco on a soft flour tortilla with cheese, guacamole and sour cream inside! Man, it was good! Plus the green sauce has some kick so I gently dipped a little with each bite! I definitely want to try all their tacos now! Plus, while we were waiting there some bowls of food that looked delicious and were being served to the patrons inside the restaurant. My friends ordered the torta (huge football size sandwich), tacos, and chips and guacamole which everyone enjoyed their respective dishes. Keep in mind I take it as a good sign when I see Hispanic people eating at a Mexican joint. Plus if the people that work there are Hispanic and speak Spanish-even better! One thing I found interesting was they had pupusas which is normally an El Salvadorean dish. Happy Mexican Eating! Muy delicioso!

Food was not as good as I hoped it was. The fajita was not freshly cooked and the Barcelona was cold not very appetizing.

A few years ago I had been to La Tia in Metairie, and it left a serious impression. What stuck with me most were the craft cocktails...creative, clever, and a little bit mischievous. I still remember one in particular: a Mexican-inspired cocktail with mezcal and beet juice that somehow managed to taste like summer decided to take a vacation south of the border. It was the kind of drink that makes you pause mid-sip and say, "Okay... whoever thought of this deserves a raise." Somehow the place drifted off my radar over time. But when the craving for Mexican food hit, it popped right back into my head. I was excited to bring my son and daughter-in-law since they had never been. Unfortunately... the reunion didn't exactly go as planned. Two things hit me immediately while looking over the menu. First: the craft cocktails were gone. Not "different." Not "updated." Just... gone. Replaced with the same drinks you see in every other Mexican restaurant. Second: the prices nearly made me spit out the water I hadn't even ordered yet. $6 for a Corona. $18 for a basic burrito with fries. $10 for a kids plate over chicken tenders and some fries. And not the old La Tia burritos either...the ones I remembered piled high with rich molé, bright verde sauces, and layers of flavor that made you wonder if you should be taking notes. Nope. Now we're talking about a plain flour tortilla with some ground meat inside, no sauce, and a side of what looked suspiciously like freezer-aisle French fries. For eighteen dollars. My daughter-in-law ordered the fajitas, and honestly... they were rough. Thin strips of overcooked meat that looked like they had taken a brief vacation in a plastic bag before hitting the grill...served on a plate. Lately I've gotten into the habit of pulling up Yelp photos to compare dishes from past years, and I did exactly that. I found a photo of the same fajitas from about three years ago...big, juicy steak pieces, sizzling on cast iron and full of life. What we got looked like it came from a completely different restaurant. To be fair, my shrimp tacos were actually pretty good. Nicely cooked shrimp, decent flavor, and probably the lone bright spot of the night. But overall, it felt like the La Tia I loved had quietly packed up and left the building. The elevated Mexican food? Gone. The rich sauces? Gone. The inventive cocktails that made the bar worth sitting at? Also gone. In their place: food that feels pulled from a bag... at prices that feel pulled from a luxury menu. It's a tough thing when a restaurant you once loved loses its spark. But sadly, this visit felt less like a reunion and more like running into an old friend who has completely changed--and not for the better. As much as I hate to say it, I don't see myself returning to La Tia anytime soon. Turns out the only thing that stayed spicy... was the price tag.

Decided to sit at the bar so I can get in and out quickly and have a little margarita. My server/bartender wasn't very attentive at all. I had to get his attention a few times for service because he was in his whole the whole time. I ordered a margarita that to me was okay, but it tasted much better after I asked to have a flavor added to it. I think it was hibiscus. I only got 2 tacos. The fish and shrimp. The fish was a little bland for my taste but the sauces and add ons saved it. This was an okay experience, I'm writing this place off. I plan to give them another shot and try some of their other menu items.

Once I ordered, the food and drinks came out quickly. The 'unlimited' mimosas actually cap at 5, which is fine, but the mix they use cheapens the drink, and the glasses weren't the cleanest. The birria and grits were good (about a 7/10), though I think the pre-shredded Mexican blend cheese on top took away from the dish. A traditional white cheese would have worked better. The birria tacos were tasty, though. The bathrooms could use attention as there were no paper towels, which makes me wonder what employees do after washing their hands. Overall, it was a good experience and definitely cost-efficient. With a few tweaks to the drinks and presentation, this place could easily go from a 3-star to a 4- or 5-star brunch spot. I'll be back to try the tacos and check out the unlimited margaritas.

I still love their churros and other menu items but this was not for me. If they improve the recipe I might try it again but for $8 it was not worth the buy.
