Ah, James Coney Island--where nostalgia meets...well, disappointment, apparently. I'd been…read moredaydreaming of a hot dog, and when I drove past JCI, it felt like fate. A craving ready to be crushed, right? Wrong. Stepping inside, I was greeted by the warm, inviting ambiance of...one other customer. The cook, on the other hand, radiated the enthusiasm of someone serving jury duty. A curt "Can I help you?" barely escaped his lips--no eye contact, no smile, not even a hint of chili-scented charm. After an intense study of the menu, I played it safe with the Walker Street Combo: two hot dogs decked out with chili, onions, and mustard, plus fries. A pink lemonade rounded out my hopeful order. I briefly considered tater tots but quickly decided against prolonging my awkward interaction with Mr. Sunshine behind the counter. The food arrived, and my optimism peaked--until I bit into the fries. Cold, flavorless, and about as exciting as eating salted cardboard. The hot dogs? Tragically bland. The chili seemed to have skipped the spice rack entirely, while the mustard and onions worked overtime trying to save the day. They didn't. Even my pink lemonade decided to phone it in--barely sweetened and wholly uninspiring. As someone who's had fond memories of JCI in the past, this visit felt like betrayal in a bun. I left wishing I'd just pulled into a gas station for a roller dog instead. James, my friend, we need to talk.

Also the service was fast and great by the gentleman who ran it. HOWEVER Crazy Cravings on the other hand took forever to get me my food. Not only did they take a long time, they also charge an arm and a leg for a birria quesadilla & a strawberry lemonade. I paid $33 for food that wasn't even good and a small portion. And a lemonade that was mainly ice. Porky's is a great environment and in a nice area and I will be returning at some point. But most Definitely not going to be going to "Crazy Cravings" ever again and they should remove and replace it with something better.

Food trucks galore and drinks and food are tasteful. Never really got an all-in-one experience like this til Porky's now. Came on a Sunday, solo. Got a top shelf margarita and was a 15.00 cost, and from a food truck outside, Soul Goode, a Chicago-Style, wings and fries. Or you may have fried okra instead like myself. If you love fried wings and fries, Soul Goode is the truck here. Overall experience was better than expected, and would come again, afternoon time for a quick bite and drinks again. Good place if you wanna avoid those brunch spots on the weekend or that downtown traffic hussle and bussle. Good vibes, and family-friendly place. Locals come here from Atascocita/Humble/Kingwood more so. Parking can be challenging, but I guess it depends on the time and day coming. Bathroom is kept up by workers, and seating area is maintained often. I heard Friday is the best day, with line dancing, karaoke, more of a crowd, and music.

This time around I got the chilaquiles verdes con arrachera--and let's just say that was a WINNER WINNER! Next time I want to do the chilaquiles divorciados (1/2 salsa verde/ 1/2 salsa ranchera). Waiters are great & the vibe is even better: I would love to return for a date night. We usually come as a family, which is just as enjoyable! The only con I have is how small the parking space is all-around. Other than that, come with your belly's empty!

We were planning to get dinner at Pappadoux or Pappasito's, but when I looked them up on Yelp, the reviews were not great. Instead, I stumbled upon Letty's and called to see if they had room for our large group. They were incredibly accommodating, and they were able to seat the 13 of us together with only 30 minutes of notice. The decor was fun and beautiful, the food was fantastic (esp the ribeye appetizer,) but it was the staff / team who truly stood out and made our experience so fantastic. From the jefe holding the door open to welcoming us, to our server suggesting off-menu vegetarian options, we could hardly believe how welcome we felt. The restaurant was spacious, clean and incredibly chic / well designed and though we had already eaten too much earlier that day, the drinks and dinner had fantastic flavor, great portion sizes and most importantly.. they were served with so much love. Muchas gracias a mi familia Letty's!!
