Beef Birria Tacos and hibiscus margarita
    Ashlee S.

I've stopped by Taqueria Xochi a few times for drinks, but this was my first time actually sitting down for food and I'm so glad I finally did! I went during lunch with a few coworkers and we were all very impressed. I kicked things off with the hibiscus margarita , which was refreshing, floral, and perfectly balanced. For food, I ordered the crispy birria tacos with consommé, and wow... flavor on flavor. The tortillas are corn-based, which is a huge win for me since I have a gluten allergy . One coworker ordered the same, while another went with the chicken tinga tacos with added avocado - everyone loved their plates. I also really like that you order and pay via QR code at the table, which makes splitting checks super easy when you're with coworkers. The only thing that feels a little odd is being prompted to tip when you don't really have traditional table service, staff simply drop off food and drinks (though the brief interactions we had were friendly and pleasant). The menu has a great variety, everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully prepared, and while the restaurant itself is on the smaller side, it works well for a relaxed lunch. I can definitely see this place getting packed during happy hour. The restaurant vibes are chill so no need to dress up or make a reservation. Just walk in and seat yourself then scan the QR code to place your order. All in all, a great spot for tasty tacos, fun cocktails, and a quick but satisfying lunch break. I'll absolutely be back!

It's a very small spot. Not big for large groups. They have great happy hour deals starting at 4pm that include drinks and food. The service was fairly quick about food I came on lunch and I was able to get my food within 15 mins. I personally didn't enjoy the food as much as I was hoping especially for the prices. I ordered: The beef birria with the dipping soup on the side - 5/10. It was lacking flavor, the soup was super oily, the birria was super oily. I've had better honestly. They did a good job of loading up the taco and making it cheesy and meaty. I just wish the beef actually had flavor to it. I wouldn't be able to recommend this for the price. I also ordered the chips and salsa lack luster as well. Chips didn't have much salt and salsa was bland. The Mexican hot chocolate was my favorite. Really good and perfect for a cold day!!!

This was a very good dinner! I sat at the bar as there is kind of limited seating at actual tables and I didn't want to occupy an entire table for just me when there were several couples and groups there. I had the Xochi nachos which were very good! Lots of cheese with them and a delicious crema. Plus a nice amount of pickled jalapeños and onions. I also got the Quesabirra tacos, which is basically birria tacos with the addition of cheese, at the suggestion of the bartender. Good call, barkeep!!! The tacos came with a little side dish of three salsas, 2 red and a green. Usually I'm more of a fan of green salsa but one of the reds had a very nice smoky flavor to it which put it at the top of my list. The tacos also came with practically a bowl of consommé for then birria tacos, honestly at the conclusion of the meal I wanted to use a spoon and eat it up like soup but alas....... I did not. Definitely would return here and I just say it'd be hard to get me to order something else off the menu even though it all looked good what I had was damn tasty.

Loved this place! The staff was super nice and accommodating. Great veggie options, I got the nopales tacos and it was so good! Some of the best guac I've ever had! The restaurant was decorated nicely and had fun music playing, it was a little loud but we liked it!

I was craving some birria tacos, and decided to order delivery from Taqueria Xochi. The tacos tasted excellent - they were super flavorful and cheesy and came with some nice sauces. The consomme was amazing. Everything was a little cold since it took a while to deliver, but I would definitely go to the restaurant to try everything fresh.

    Beef Birria Nachos- GOOD FLAVOR!

Wow! Other than it's a small place with not a lot of seating - I can't believe how good the birria flavor it is. The staff was very patient and good. Jamaica Margarita at $10 in happy hour Soooo tasty. I plan to be back!!!

    Receipt with added gratuity

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. This place is a shame and a scam. Tacos were the worst I've ever had in my life. Mushrooms had no flavor and were not cooked. It was like they sliced some mushrooms and put them on a plate. The place wasn't crowded. The ambience would've been nice except one of the workers was listening to a loud and obnoxious podcast and didn't have headsets on. I sat at the bar and it was mediocre. What really adds insult to injury is the 18% gratuity automatically added to your bill. Had I known that, I would never have come here. There is no mention of it on the menu. It doesn't say it anywhere in the store . Shame on you. I will be contacting your headquarters for this bait and switch. EVERYONE who reads this avoid. HH menu is a joke and so is the food.

The restaurant is relatively small and its first come first serve for seating. You order off the QR which makes it really convenient for eating with co-workers because the bill is already split. The food was good not great but the portions were large for the price. It's a good option for a fast casual dinner.

Me and my wife grabbed some food and drinks here this past weekend. The menu is very easy and simple, basically Mexican food. Our servers were kind and considerate, and the food and drinks were pretty good. I've eaten a lot of Mexican food in the DMV and it's always expensive so know what you're getting into. Next time I'd stop by I'd want to try a torta or birria tacos/fries.

Amazing! Was at the soft opening and tried a little bit of everything. The spicy guac and esquites were to die for. Also all of the fry options - be still my heart!! Also, I don't care for beef, but the beef birria is legit and sooooo good. And the Paloma's Everything is amazing and if Amazon hadn't mugged me off I would be there all the time. Last note: there will be breakfast tacos and happy hour! Buckle up!!

My favorites were the grilled steak, grilled chicken, and al pastor. All three of these meats were very flavorful and tender. This was my first fish taco and I definitely plan on having more in the future because of this! The carnitas were also good but a bit dry-- still flavorful though! All tacos were huge portions and definitely filled me up. They had simple toppings but complimented the meats well. Would definitely recommend!

The service was poor from start to finish, and the food was honestly very subpar for what you would expect from a Mexican restaurant. The most concerning part of the experience happened when I received my bill. After leaving a specific tip amount, I later discovered that the waiter had increased the tip beyond what I authorized. At that point it's no longer just bad service--it's a serious issue, and I'm currently disputing the charge. Between the poor service, mediocre food, and the unauthorized change to my tip, this was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've had in a long time. I cannot recommend this place.

I liked their menu and wanted to give it a try. I got there shortly after they opened up and it was pretty empty. I got a seat right by the door, and had a view of the street and watched as the restaurant began to fill up. Lots of college kids came in as the evening went on and it seemed like a popular restaurant. I thought my server was very good. He checked in regularly and had a lot of tables he was responsible for. For my meal, I started with Queso Fundido and that was probably my favorite. The cheese was really hot and very delicious. It also came with three types of salsa on the side (a salsa verde, a chili salsa, and a third one I'm not sure what it was). I did like the chili one. The flour tortillas were very hot and fresh. I enjoyed it. For my entree, I had the Achiote Hanger Steak Fajitas. This was my least favorite part of the meal. I had asked the waiter if they were good and he told me he always recommends it. I didn't mind the sides that came with it. The rice and beans were pretty good and I liked the guacamole. What I didn't like was the actual steak. It was very tough and hard to bite into. What was weird is it was completely red in the middle so I believe it was medium to medium rare, but the steak wasn't tender at all. It also wasn't very seasoned and the peppers and onions under it just seemed to be sitting in oil. I did ask for salt and pepper, but even with it, I didn't like it. I ended up not finishing the meal. Finally, I had ordered the corn cheesecake as a dessert. I now realize they sent out churros instead, but I guess I wasn't paying attention until after the fact. The churros were OK. I would have preferred more chocolate sauce on mine. I wish I would have spoken up because I was actually looking forward to trying the cheesecake. For me the food was ok, and not spectacular. I'd be willing to try out something else and come back to at least try their cheesecake, but if I never returned that'd be fine with me too.

One such place was a Mexican place as my old fav Mexican place on Kent Island (Señors Chile) had great but extremely greasy birria tacos. So you can imagine my surprise when I stumbled upon this food truck that read "Tacos Los Primos". The spot made me curious. So I went to visit a friend who lives in walking distance from the spot for lunch recently. She ordered the veggie burrito and I ordered (pic below) Quesabirria tacos (no onion). When we got back I was WOW'd by not only how yummy my food was but how it wasn't oozing with grease! The consume that comes with for dipping is just enough for me personally and bursting with flavor. As you'd expect from most food trucks the service is made to order. When you go up to the counter and tell them what you want they make it fresh! The truck is parked on Rhoside Green Park (sandwiched between Courthouse and Rosslyn) so if you live in either neighborhood it's easy to access from walking distance. And since it's near an Arlington green space there's usually some seating nearby you can pop a squat and eat lunch. Given spring time is approaching this seems more doable. Just yesterday I was driving by to visit the same friend and saw a long line for this place! Most people in Arlington know how great this spot is, it is a terribly kept secret! Can't comment much on how long the line was busted as I went during a time when it was windy (but warm) and it was mid day. When I drove by it was pushing dinner time past 7pm. I love the food here! But since I live closer to the storefront location in Lyon Park I usually end up ordering food from there (review on that location is coming soon)! If you like authentic Mexican food that's fresh and delicious, you'll enjoy this spot!
