I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience at Guajillo Mexican Cuisine was extremely disappointing. The service was poor from start to finish, and the food was honestly very subpar for what you would expect from a Mexican restaurant. The most concerning part of the experience happened when I received my bill. After leaving a specific tip amount, I later discovered that the waiter had increased the tip beyond what I authorized. At that point it's no longer just bad service--it's a serious issue, and I'm currently disputing the charge. Between the poor service, mediocre food, and the unauthorized change to my tip, this was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've had in a long time. I cannot recommend this place. read more

Great food and drinks, terrible customer service My fiancé and I stopped by Guajillo Restaurant, and honestly, the food and drinks were fantastic. We ordered two mezcalitas, and they were delicious -- very well balanced and full of flavor. We also ordered appetizers and entrées, and everything we tried was really good. I was already completely full, but the food was so good that I forced myself to finish it. Unfortunately, the customer service was a completely different experience. We arrived and sat at a patio table. A gentleman came by and dropped off some water. My fiancé politely said, "Hi, how's your day?" and the response was, "I'm not your server." Not exactly the warmest welcome. About five minutes later, our actual server came over. He was a bald Latino gentleman who was extremely rude and seemed completely uninterested in providing good service. Our food took over an hour to arrive.. The food and drinks deserve recognition because they were genuinely fantastic. Unfortunately, the service completely took away from what could have been a great dining experience. Great food. I arrived as a party of three on a Saturday night and was quickly seated. We quickly got salsa and chips to start and our orders in. Overall, service was quick. Ambiance felt authentic and casual. Queso Dip 3/5 Decent amount of queso. The cheese reminded me of bowling allergy nachos or movie nacho cheese. I'm not particularly a fan of that style but you might be. Taconazo 5/5 Absolutely delicious. I'm a big taco fan and the variety is such a bonus. My favorites were the grilled steak, grilled chicken, and al pastor. All three of these meats were very flavorful and tender. This was my first fish taco and I definitely plan on having more in the future because of this! The carnitas were also good but a bit dry-- still flavorful though! All tacos were huge portions and definitely filled me up. They had simple toppings but complimented the meats well. Not many places can do mole so when I saw it on the menu I knew I had to try it. It was 100% spot on and not from a bottle. The flavors took me to Mexico! I also had the taco platter which is so filling and delicious. Tacos are made just right. The guac comes in a small portion but so good. The first time I had the salsa it was towards the end of the night and it was watered down but when I came back the salsa was perfect! This is my go to place in Arlington for Mexican food. The house marg in passionfruit is a must try! SERVICE: the team is quick and funny. Very welcoming and knowledgeable about the food. Great service! Solid 4 stars. Great, kind, quick service. Hot meal that came quickly. Spacious and welcoming interior with lots of seating. Splitting the difference with 3 stars. Tacos? We came here for dinner on a weekday evening and had a good experience. The meal started out with complimentary chips and salsa, and we also ordered some guacamole on the side. The guacamole was good, but the small cup was a bit expensive at $8. I got chicken fajitas, which came with onions, peppers, and zucchini, and sides of guacamole, rice, refried beans, and tortillas. I liked this, and it was a very generous portion size. I also tried my husband's mole poblano, which was good, and my kid really liked the kids' quesadilla they made him. Service was very friendly. While finding Mexican food in the DMV isn't really difficult - finding good Mexican food without breaking the bank can be be a challenge. Simply put, Im mad that I never came here before. - Parking is limited but there's lots of street parking if you can't find a spot in the lot out front. - Staff is really friendly. - Drinks were spot on. Had their mezcal margarita, which was delicious. - Food was excellent, everything from their chips and warm salsa (full of flavor) to their guacamole. Had shrimp with mole sauce and was sooo happy. We also has Masitas de Puerto (juicy chunks i of pork) which was delicious. - Lot of Mexican specialties and typical American-Mexican food as well. This is your average run-of-the-mill Mexican restaurants. We came here for National Margarita Day. Drinks are pretty good, the house margarita was good. The agave Rita was my personal favorite, on the sweeter side but the orange liquor gives a little more depth of flavor. The cheese dip has an odd taste to it, wouldn't order again. My friend ordered a burrito which is her go-to and said it is delicious. I got a steak quesadilla which was good, nothing special. The employees are super nice and attentive. Guajillo is a nice local Mexican joint! I ordered the chicken and veggie fajitas. The chicken meat was more on the well done side and most of the veggies served with the dish were onions. But the side of beans, rice, salad and guac was very tasty. The service is the star of the show here. The servers kept checking on us, refilling waters, and when the server noticed our table was very wobbly, she fixed it unprompted which was appreciated. read more

This was probably some of the best authentic Mexican food I've had! Not greasy, or overly cheesy, but just excellent, tasty food. We were served with delicious crunchy chips and salsa. As I love spicy, they also have a hotter sauce called Voodoo. Be warned it's very spicy, but tasty, I loved it! We started off with their award-winning Margaritas (try it with the spicy salt), which was amazing! For appetizers, the Guacamole and their Nacho Macho (nachos with beans, pico de gallo, lettuce, sour cream, etc on top) were a big hit. Both tasty and devoured quick, ended up ordering around round of guac. As for the main entrees, it ranged from Quesadilla, Tostadas, Enchiladas served with rice and pico de gallo on the side. Our group shared the dishes and all had unique tastes. We ended with Churros for dessert. The service was excellent. The staff were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable especially with some in our group having dietary restrictions and nut allergies. I have to give a shout out to the owner who took care of us and made it special as we were celebrating a birthday. I was wary of the location at first due to parking, but just wait for a few mins, and typically restaurant patrons are in and out, so parking eventually becomes avaliable and its free. If you have to park on Wilson Blvd, you have to feed the meter (free after 8pm on Saturdays, free all day Sundays). This place and the restaurants that share the building have done an excellent job making this a fun, beautiful space! The area around the restaurant is very well developed with condos and the vibe is chill, quiet. Great for families or even a date night! read more

We've been eating here on and off since 2015. Last night the hubs and I ordered 2 chimis for delivery.... one veggie and the other grilled steak along with chips and salsa. What was Great: The tortillas used to make the chimis were fresh and delicious and the portion size was great. Both came with sides of pico de gallo and sour cream. The salsa that came with the chips was tasty and mildly spicy. Chips were good but not particularly fresh... perhaps because we got via delivery (although we live around the corner). Chimis were completely unremarkable. The "grilled steak" did not taste anything like grilled steak. It was more like pulled pork... just a blah sort of tasting shredded meat. Nothing like slices of or chunks of grilled steak as we expected. My veggie chimi was also unfortunately a disappoinment. Oodles of beans and rice with the occasional zucchini, onions and I think I saw a few colonels of corn. No peppers whatsoever. But zucchini? Is that the norm? It tasted kind of odd really. This place has been our "go to" for Mexican food but after this meal we'll have to reconsider. read more

Came to this restaurant on a Saturday afternoon around 5 PM. It was not super busy and we were able to pick a seat outside immediately. The restaurant waitstaff is very nice and very welcoming! Our server came to order our drinks immediately and offered us some shots. We got a shot of tequila a shot of vodka! For an appetizer we order the guacamole it was really good very flavorful the chips and salsa are delicious! It's very authentic. We both ordered the five taco platter. One pork, one fish, one steak, one chicken, one Carnitas. The tacos were a little dry but once you add some salsa to them they taste so delicious and very flavorful! I will definitely come and try a lot more menu items. The service in the atmosphere is great and it's nice to sit outside on a spring day..
