The food is amazing, plain and simple. What really bums me out is the bar service. Unless you are getting bottled beer, or a shot, you will be dissapointed. Good food and plenty of it !!!! I have never left here not stuffed or buzzed. The food is great and the servers are awesome they are very sweet and down to earth I always feel welcome coming here. It's never super busy so there is always seating and it's not loud so you can have a good conversation with who you go with. Worst Mexican food place, my wife and I ate there and there was a dead roach in the charro beans and feces on the chips. It was so bad that my wife throw up when she started to ear the charro beans. We brought this to the manager attention and all he would say is that it never happen here before. No sorry or anything, he just shrug it off and walk away. Food is just okay. However, it's an eat and leave sort of place. Don't hang around or laugh out loud. Treat it like a hospital cafeteria and you'll be ok. If you want to be free, relax, and have a good time after work go to Pluckers', Friday's, TX Roadhouse, or somewhere like that where you can let your hair down. I went in tonight to order to go after visiting my daughter at Darnall. The hostess was nice enough but kept encouraging me to call in next time. I ordered a 16 oz. queso with chips, an enchilada plate and fajitas for two. I also ordered 4 extra tortillas. I got to my daughter's house and had NO tortillas. I got my youngest granddaughter a plate fixed and called the restaurant as I was driving to HEB to get tortillas for the meal. All I wanted was not to be charged for the EXTRA 4 tortillas I ordered. I've NEVER had a problem being reimbursed for missing items from a restaurant. The manager insisted that unless I drove back to the restaurant from Cove, there was nothing he could do. He could "make it good next time". I'm from out of town. I don't know when I will be back. I'm not sure if he is just incompetent, lazy or a lying thief. read more

Worst experience of food and service I have ever had in my life. Literally. Starts off bad with getting the wrong order. I ordered a simple dish (cheese enchiladas). They brought beef. So I sent it back. Few minutes later I get another plate. First thing i notice the edge of plate is FULL of WATER. Not to mention it looks like soap water. I wasn't going to taste it to confirm it. I drain it in front of the waitress to show her. She blames it on the cheese. No lady, cheese doesn't produce water like that. Moving on... The cheese on top is runny as hell. I open up the tortillas and both are completely empty!!! Can't get worse right? It does. One tortillas is ROCK hard. So at this point I'm pretty mad. Manager comes out and I explain what's going on. He acts like I'm being a whinny. Proceeds to tell me my inside cheese melted. Ummmm... NO! The chesse he claimed "melted" was the exact cheese the waitress told me they didnt even have. No apology was given to me for this headache. About the only decent thing that was done, was them not making me pay for that slop. Not that I would have. I hope this helpful to someone. read more

ALTHOUGH - We ate there tonight and the food was tasteless and the house margarita had no alcohol in it at ALL, then ordered Top Shelf margarita for 11.50 and it was the same - no alcohol. I have to give this Mexican Restaruant a 3.5 rating out of 5 stars. This place is more of a Tex-Mex restaurant with a good variety of plates to choose from. I'm from San Antonio, and was looking for an authentic Mexican Restaurant, but decided to try this place out, due to it was down the road from me and my family was craving some good ole Mexican food. The inside was actually pretty nice but not overdone and clean. Had a good crowd with some Mexican music in the background. The food was nice and hot and waitress was very nice and prompt. The food was good and we didn't have any complains. We also ordered some frozen margaritas the big ones with top shelf Patron, they were actually pretty good not watered down like other places. Gets only 3.5 stars just because we were looking for authentic Mexican restaurant that serves tongue, tripas, etc. I will still recommend this place. New to the area, so I will be searching for that hole in the wall where grandma is cooking in the kitchen. read more

Mexican food is my favorite of all foods. As soon as Taqueria Mexico opened, we had to try it and we have been back two more times since. All three visits were the same. The place is clean, the service is good, the food is bad. It is like eating a shaker of salt every time. The owner asked us how our food was on our second visit. We nicely mentioned the over use of salt but as of the third visit everything is still being over salted. Not just some of the items but everything you order. On the visit today, the rice's only flavor was salt. The rice was hard and dried out of the edges. The beans were skinned over and tasted day's old and the chicken enchiladas were dry, chewy and all with the favor of just a lot of salt. My husband love's salt and always adds additional salt to most things he eats. This was the first time I have ever, in 25 years, heard him complain that something was to salty to enjoy. We tried to be fair and give it another try just in case they were having a bad day. I can now say the food was not a mistake. It is the same every time. No favor but salt and the food is clearly not fresh. There seems to be a lack of care in quality standards all the way around. If you like chips and salsa you better enjoy 75% of the chips you are served to be in tiny broken pieces. I just didn't see any care or quality in what they were willing to service you as a meal. They will not be getting anymore of my hard earned money. I am sorry for the bad review. I would have loved nothing more than to have loved the place. read more

Good food lousy customer service. I usually love this place, fantastic sour cream enchaladas and other entries. I recommended this restraunt to my S.I.L. where my nephew ordered potatoes with beans and rice for breakfast. When we went to pay for the meal they charged us $9.00 for 7 dry chunks of potatoes with two table spoons of beans and rice. For $9. He could have gotten fajitas for one for that price. I guess what I'm saying is the foods great but check or ask what the price is before you ask for a special request because the manager or the guy at the register will make up a ridiculous price. If you try to reason with the price its too bad thats the price pay it, and when you state I will not be returning the guy at the register will simply state "I dont care." read more

The outside of this restaurant is very plain, so the colorful furniture is a welcome surprise when you walk in. However, the furniture is the only thing that I enjoyed at this restaurant. I noticed a slightly odd smell. The restaurant was empty except for someone waiting on a take-out order on the morning that I patronized it, so the waiter told me to pick a table. The table that I chose was sloppily cleaned. There was dried food in the corner of the table, and a film on the glass table cover. I moved to another table. I ordered my favorite Mexican breakfast--nopalitos and eggs--and coffee. The breakfast comes with cubed browned potatoes, refried beans, and a choice of flour or corn tortillas. I was disappointed with the breakfast. The eggs were overcooked and the flour tortillas were dry. The potatoes were definitely not fresh, and they were dried out as well. The portions were large, so I could have taken the leftovers home, but I did not want take them with me. The price is average for this breakfast. I can't rate the waitstaff since there were no other patrons. I have no desire to come to this restaurant again. read more
