We had never done a 'haunted' tour in a city and this was a lot of fun! We called the tour office early and then met our guide in front of the Moon River Brewing Company. She was dressed in colonial period costume and actually had a rich family history in the area. We grabbed a beer inside and headed up to the second floor of Moon River, which is supposedly very, very haunted. People being hit by objects, power tools switching on by themselves, and other stuff. Anyway, we went to two other pubs and then a haunted square where and indian chief is buried and then on over to the 1790 restaurant for a one of the best Planter's Punch drinks I've ever had. All in all, a really good time. The guide was very knowledgable and was full of fun facts and great stories! This is a must do for adults in Savannah. Really a neat experience. So glad we did this. read more

We decided we wanted to do a ghost tour while in Savannah and had heard good things about Tara's so we decided to give it a shot. Like so many tours a lot depends on the guide and the experiences can be vastly different. The tour takes you to many haunted spots around the city and the guide will provide you with the backstory at each stop. We did get to see some really cool historical sites that we had walked by during the day and didn't even notice. Our guide was fairly new and wasn't able to answer some of what we asked, but still gave a decent tour. The bars we stopped at all offer discounted drinks and you get to go some places that aren't usually open to the general public which was also pretty cool. Overall tours like these are pretty hit or miss and there's a lot to choose from. I would recommend Tara's as a definite option for anyone. read more

The boos and brews tour takes you away from the typical tourist spots in Savannah and shows you some great bars. The tour was an awesome mix of scary stories but also the dark history of Savannah. My girlfriend and I recently did the Boo's and Brews tour, and our guide Stephanie was fantastic. She very clearly knew all of her stories and kept the interactions fun, energetic, and engaging the whole night. She even gave us some of the best recommended drinks to check out at each stop! Not only that, but since it was our first night in Savannah, we needed some help finding the starting point again when the tour had ended. Stephanie was more than willing to walk us back, and since we were the only two, she shared a few extra stories and details about the city we didn't hear anywhere else! Second time doing this particular company's pub crawl ghost tour. Lance did such an amazing job. He was funny and engaging. Learned things we never knew. Got amazing pictures as well as being shown historical pictures he had. The knowledge he was able to share with us will stay with us. Makes Savannah that much more amazing. Thank you guys! read more

We had done other pub tours here and went with Tara's tours this time. We were so so happy with Lance and the tour overall! He was funny, kept a good pace, shared not only haunted tales but great historical information as well. We got a skeleton spirit picture and many many orbs at the cemetery. Excellent walking tour! Our guide was an engaging storyteller & projected a very warm personality that made the tour so enjoyable. Our favorite part was when she showed us on the bricks of one of the old buildings where slaves have left their fingerprints in the brick. Wow, what a great time! We had Melissa as our tour guide for the Boos and Brews and she could not have known more about the town (she even told us about our Air BNB and the haunted place next door!) She was super patient since the tour was 2 bachelorette parties. We had so much fun. My boyfriend and I went on this tour - him deciding last minute that he'd like to go on one and this being our third choice. But we very much enjoyed our tour! We had Jessica - she was amazing! My boyfriend and I were in a group with 9 ladies on a bachelorette party. We had so much fun with them! They brought Jell-O shots and shared with us. We thought they were hilarious and enjoyed the ladies' stories. We did the bar crawl one. Apparently you can open carry in Savannah! That made the heat more bearable. DO NOT do this tour if you are bothered by drunk or rowdy people. This is only for folks who can both handle that and want to join in on the fun :) Jessica was pretty great at dealing with this rambunctious (and drunk) group - even despite being sick. Her stories were very interesting and she was very receptive and able to answer any inquiries. She was also very pleasant and enjoyable to be around. She even had very good input about Savannah in general. It turned out being great that we didn't get our first choices! This tour and Jessica were AWESOME. read more

Soooo much potential, so little execution. Unfortunately a tour guide's personality can make or break a tour like this, and ours was scattered, tired, and uninterested in her own stories. It seems really awkward that you meet at a bar and you don't even get your first drink for free, when the word "brews" is IN the tour name and you pay so much for a ticket that doesn't even include transportation. There didn't seem to be a logical flow to the way you walk around town. The tour guide also stopped and stood us under trees in really buggy areas, and didn't seem to notice when the entire tour was slapping at their ankles and wrists trying to get rid of the bugs. Way less time should be spent in each sidewalk pit stop, and way more time should be spent in actual haunted locations. It was really disappointing we didn't go into any actual haunted houses. The entire tour exists outside of places that anybody could walk to on their own. We expected a party considering the name of this tour, but the group wasn't cohesive at all and no one was feeling the tour guide. Such a great idea, just needs a much better business plan. read more

While here for a bachelorette party we thought this sounded fun and purchased tickets ahead of time. We weren't able to purchase online which is a bit inconvenient and had to call to get the tickets. Its 2016, get with the times! Our tour guide ended up taking shots at all our bar stops, getting drunk then dipped out on our group. No end of the tour, no nothing. Hubby and I took the Pub Crawl ghost tour from Tara's Tours. We had a great group of 4 couples, and the tour guide seemed genuine and like he truly enjoyed his job. The tour was a walking tour through the city, stopping at a few local bars. We got to hear stories from the bartenders about the hauntings at the bar while they filled our drinks. The tour guide told us several personal stories at the different locations, making it a little more personal. The best part of the tour was the last stop at Moon River Brewing Company. We got to go down in the basement, as well as up to the second floor. They were area's that were not open to the general public, but well worth the cost of the tour all within itself! When we go back to Savannah in the future, I'll definitely consider using Tara's Tours again! read more

It seems wrong not to tour savannah without a ghost tour, so after a bit of research I found Tara Tours through yelp. It was our third choice as others err booked up - seriously, plan ahead on this! It was basically a history tour with spooky stories emphasized. This made my husband happy, while I was hoping for more creepy crawlies. The guide referenced many times in which past tourists were absolutely terrified by his tales... Hmmm. Either I'm hard to frighten, or they were drunk and/or pussies. Regardless, we had a very personable guide, who was a good storyteller and knowledgable. The pub stops were a nice way to break up the walking. We started at an Irish pub, did 1790, hit zumzi's, and ended at moon river. The third stop was a pretty modern looking place with bland history, which made it feel very out of place. Mayhaps if you drink more it's not so noticeable. We enjoyed having a guide around the night streets and learning more about several sites. read more

Did not actually go on the tour; however, the lady who was answering phone on 8/3/2012 is not a very happy person and should not be working with people. We booked the haunted ghost tour the morning we drove to Savannah. It rained all afternoon so we called and cancelled tour 2 hours before. They said that was ok and asked if we wanted to rebook for Friday. We said no because we had dinner reservations at Pink House (AMAZING!!). Well, our credit card statement came with $40 charge on it. We called to have them take charge off . . . . she argued about a refund and stated we should have cancelled sooner; however, we booked the morning of?? She was just plain nasty!! Hung up and have my credit card company take care of this one. Loved Savannah and this was our only negative experience. Those are my 2 cents read more

We booked this Boos and brews tour on our first night in Savannah which was last week, maybe about the 24th of Sept 2014? Anyhow, I am really glad we did! It was so awesome to be able to walk down the streets and drink beer. And our tour guide I cannot recall his name, but he was awesome. He told us some corny jokes etc. and he took us by some really cool spots, and told us some really cool stories! I don't want to explain all of it here, because if you go I do not want to ruin it for you. But basically only one strange thing happened to my girlfriend, and I while we were on the tour. And I didn't really realize it was anything out of the ordinary until later, when my girlfriend who doesn't believe in this sort of thing had explained it to me. She basically said that at one of our stops her phone completely powered down all on its own. It did not give a 20% or 10% power warning etc. and when she tried to turn it back on it would not turn on. But after we left that place it was able to turn on just fine, and they battery was at 25% and as she says still showing green on the battery. Anyhow we had been taking photos etc all throughout the tour, but we did not catch anything on the photos. But we were unable to take any photos at the last place due to the phone mishap. Her phone also did another very strange thing when we were in Charleston earlier in the week which was unrelated to this tour... But we were driving along with the navigation application she has, and all of a sudden out of no where the voice converted itself to a woman with an English/British accent. It only converted for one phrase I think it was make a left turn ahead or something to that effect. And then it went back to the normal North American English. We both looked at each other like WTF? Mind you she (my girl friend) does not believe in ghosts, or esp, or anything of the sort. So is she a believer now, NO... but who knows maybe one day she will have an extraordinary that will make her a believer... Anyhow this was a really great tour, and I would recommend it to anyone who is in Savannah, and looking for something fun, and exciting to do! read more

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!! We brought a group for the Boos and Brews tour and we're so very disappointed. From the very beginning Stephanie, the tour guide, was very unprofessional! She let me know first thing that she had issues with another group, and after words told one of the customers "bye bitch" and saluted her! From there Stephanie continuously told us we were like herding cats, mind you, there were only six of us (3 not drinking at this point). The first 20 minutes she went over rules such as; we were not to speak when other tours were around. She reached out and grabbed one of our group and wouldn't let her cross the street until she said she was allowed to go. As we were arriving at our fist stop we asked if we could stop in at another place as well, instead of explaining that she had a routine she very forcefully said "NO NO NO" and left it at that. When we arrived at Moon River Brewing, she said we were not to drink until after her tour, then became extremely agitated when a group member asked to grab water before going to the basement. Upon entering the basement we met an employee who scared the daylights out of us (he laughed it off as well), at that point Stephanie ran over and started telling us we had to be quiet. Mind you, we were all just laughing WITH AN EMPLOYEE, at a very loud brewery at 9:30pm!! Stephanie then said she was going to sit a bit while we looked around. One group member asked the employee who was still in the basement,about the back room he was going in. He replied "come on" and showed her some of the architecture where they house the can goods. At this point Stephanie ran over screaming for her to come from the room. Our group member was so uncomfortable with the exchange that she promptly left the room, went upstairs, and left all together. When another member of our group asked me asked if we should get our money back Stephanie became extremely hostile and "called her manager". I asked to speak to her as well, she Had someone on the phone who was extremely sick and could barely speak. I apologized for the inconvenience, And let her know that Stephanie's behavior was unacceptable. Her manager let me know that she would speak to her boss and see what they could do if we would be leaving the tour to get our money back. When I went to hand the phone to Stephanie, she snatched it out of my hand and stormed halfway up the steps. From there she continuously pointed her fingers at me and became even more combative. At that point I had enough and we got into a shouting match. Where Stephanie let me know we were not her customers and not only was the tour done, we were to leave Moon River Brewing immediately. 30 or so minutes later she pushed passed us on the sidewalk. Upon calling today, her manager called me a liar multiple times. She also said she spoke with Moon River and they showed tapes of this all going down and that Stephanie did nothing! It was all my groups fault. I have spoke with Moon River Management and they let me know they have not spoken with Her manager or given any tapes. Not only did The manager at Tara haunted tours Refuse to give me her name. She let my husband Know that if we emailed or reached out to the owner she would be screening all calls and emails prior to him receiving them. As the owner was stuck in Australia due to Covid restrictions. I have never experienced this type of service!!! It is sad to know that there are businesses out there treating their customers this way. Especially when they are willing to supported them through this pandemic. They make local businesses look very bad. read more

3 stars = met my expectations. We booked our tour for last night through this group because another tour was already sold out. This tour was billed as, essentially, a pub crawl ghost tour. My wife doesn't drink and I am more of a social drinker that might have a drink or two in the evening. I had hopes that the ghost tour presentation of the outing would out weigh the drinking focus of the tour - my expectations were low and they were met. Drew was our guide and he was interesting enough but clearly not professional in his approach. It seemed that the pubs had a deal with him where if you bring the crowds by we'll kick a free drink your way. He drank plenty on our trip and by the end of the tour he was beginning to exhibit the effects of his imbibing. He was a little harder to hear and a little less focused. The drinkers in our group appeared to have a great time. And the highlight of the tour, for me at least, was a visit to Blue Moon and seeing some old, unfinished spaces. That was the only part that was remotely scary. My wife and I both agreed that this was the equivalent if the "booze cruise" down in Cabo. If you just want an excuse to drink and be mildly entertained this tour is for you. read more

Went on my Bachelorette Party and this my absolute favorite thing we did the whole weekend. We did the walking tour, where they cover history of the town along with local legends and photos of other tour members. We had 4 bar stops at local bars to stay hydrated along the way! It was so much for everyone that came! I was say the crowd ranged from younger Bachelorette groups like ours to couples celebrating 30+ years of marriage. This is a MUST for anyone visiting Savannah. If you aren't so into drinking, I might still consider taking one of the ghost tours by hearse, but the walking tours are best suited for spirited spirit-seekers! (See what I did there?!) read more

Our actual guide was Chad, who had such a welcoming personality and was very knowledgeable. During the tour, Chad offered a ton of information on the places we stopped while adding his own experiences. I highly recommend ensuring your phone is charged! I went on a Boos and Brews tour with a large group (30 of us!) as part of an author event that was held in Savannah. Tara Haunted Tours was very accommodating of such a large group and worked to make sure that we enjoyed ourselves. Joan was a fantastic guide and her stories were informative and entertaining. We got to see some of the beautiful locations in the Historic District of Savannah and hear about the history and legends attached to the spots. We did this all while making sure that everyone remained "hydrated" by making pit stops at local pubs, with stories of their own to make sure that everyone's cups remained filled with the beverage of their choice. Some members of my group got some interesting pictures and video out of the experience. Definitely worth checking out during your visit! read more

My boyfriend and I decided to do the boos and brews tour on a Tuesday night. I definitely recommend doing a tour during the week if you prefer a more intimate experience so the group is not as large. We had Jessica as our tour guide, she was fantastic! Super informative without a dull moment. It was a great way to start off our trip. Stephanie was our tour guide and from the beginning, I knew something was off about her down to her Darth Vader book bag. She was accusing all of us of drinking prior to the tour and told us it was illegal to have thermoses and if the police asked that we had water. Stephanie then showed us pictures on her phone from when she worked at another tour and said we couldn't go there because she didn't work there anymore. Then we were shushed the entire walk to the bar and even scolded when walking across the street. Should've cut our losses a long time ago. Then we went to the first Pub, Moon River Brewing. While there we went to the basement and an employee of the Pub scared us and that was fun and we were laughing. Then he invited me to look in the storage room, so I went back and he was showing me the architect and then Stephanie came back there screaming at me. I politely walked by her and left the tour. Stephanie should not be allowed to work in any customer service industry. We tried getting our money back but was unsuccessful. The manager called us liars and wouldn't listen nor give us the owner's information. I hope the owner reads this and knows that the 1 star reviews that they are receiving are factual and are hurting the business. I have never been so insulted in my life. read more

Our group of 6 enjoyed the Boos and Brews Tour with Chad. Good mix of history and ghost stories and some great locally owned pubs that may not be on the standard tourist track. Can't beat walking through Savannah with a to-go cup and hearing great stories. read more
