I was seen as soon as I walked in. They did a great job taking images and testing my eye. Dr Shields was super nice, patient, and explained my results thoroughly. I never felt rushed or treated like another number. Jasmin helped me out my whole way through and even hooked me up with a couple pairs of glasses through my insurance. This is my only eye doctor and place I'll order glasses from here on out.

Dr. Shields explained all of the results of my examinations to me in terms that I could understand. I wear reading glasses every day for work as I'm constantly in front of a computer screen, so my eyes tend to get very irritated and dry by the end of the day. She offered me a coupon for an over-the-counter eye-drop solution that I'm using daily now. I was able to pick out a new eyeglass frame, too. Last year, an accident destroyed my vision in my right eye-- after emergency surgery and a couple days at UCLA medical center, I needed a local ophthalmologist and found out they were few and far between. After over an hour in a waiting room in Ridgecrest, I was told I'd be there another 6+ hours- they were that unprofessional. I left Ridgecrest very frustrated and found Dr. Optowski. I'm very glad I found these people. Very professional, well run, clean and very well decorated office; All throughout the office are photos of some of the amazing aviation the AV is known for- starting with a mind blowing photo of an SR71 signed by many of the ground and flight crews of this Skunk Works marvel. As of today, July 2, 2026, I am still waiting for an update. The fact that it has taken this long and the glasses are still not ready says a lot about the level of professionalism and communication throughout this process. I understand that delays can happen, but I would have appreciated better follow-up and more accurate information regarding the status of my child's glasses. There are only a few pages to fill out as a new patient and very little hassle to deal with. They then take you back and check your eye pressure and pupillary distance. Once they're done they walk you into one of the empty rooms with all the equipments.
