They had completely ruined it and there was no way I would wear it on my wedding day. I took it to Tara and in 2 days they completely tore the dress up and redid the entire thing. They stayed late and opened early and worked on my dress and gave it to me on the morning on my wedding. I couldn't even believe what a wonderful job they did. Super responsible and caring. I called the shop as my husband and I were on our way to mens wear house to get him a suit for his interview that was only 2 days later. Tara told us if we get the suit and make it to the shop by closing time, she would see what she could do. My husband bought the first suit he tried on and we raced to the shop (Tara stayed open a little late for us) She was very kind, smart, and professional. She knew it was for an interview so she made the suit her top priority. She somehow made a miracle happen, and had the suit ready the very next day. She is an incredible woman!!! I brought my Stella York dress in three weeks before my wedding after having some dress issues. It's a scary thought to have your wedding dress tailored in a short amount of time, especially when you've never used the tailor before! Tara Tailor Shop said it would not be a problem to have the dress finished before the wedding. The dress was several sizes too big, so it needed a lot of work. The straps, waist, hem, and bustle all needed to be adjusted/added. Both ladies were very patient. They took the time to pin the dress and asked for my opinion on everything. I came in about a week before the wedding to try on the dress (two weeks after I had dropped it off). The waist/chest area needed some adjusting. They pinned it in the new spot and then moved on to the bustle. The bustle was done in the middle of the dress. They didn't like how the bustle on the dress flowed, so they opted to move the bustle up to the belt. Mind you this is a week before the big day. They really care about their work and the final result of the dress. I'm so happy they decided to change it because it is beautiful. Another example of them caring about their product is that initially the bustle buttons were made out of fabric from my dress. Since the bustle was getting moved to the belt, they put little diamond buttons instead to camouflage them. The flowers on the straps of my dress curled up instead of laying flat. They starched the straps to get the flowers to sit down flat. There are no words to express how greatful I am that they were able to tailor my dress in such a short amount of time and the amazing job they did with the alterations. read more

I came in with 2 friends and a teenager to get the teenagers dress altered for Prom. She tried on the dress, which is beautiful, and cost $165, but the bust was too big. Two women were working and they immediately start to discuss the alterations between themselves in Farsi. Now why is that necessary to discuss OUR REQUESTS, in a language we obviously do not speak? They pin the dress and I am quoted $70 (heard by myself and my 3 guests there with me), basically it will cost $35 to alter each side. She kept asking to hem the dress and we repeatedly said no (pushing another sale? Trying to bump the bill up?). I hand over my credit card and after speaking to her co-worker in Farsi as she is doing so, she gives me the ticket to sign and just before signing I noticed she charged me $170! That's more than what it cost to buy the dress (and the dressmaker customizes to measurements given so it's custom, poor teenager just measured bust wrong)! I say she charged me wrong and she says "Oh no, I told you $170!" All 4 of us told her no, you said $70, we all heard it! She begins to argue with me and tells me how difficult the alterations will be. I am thinking 'she is altering each side so even if you divide $170 in half it would be $85 each side', no where near the $70 she quoted. I told her to refund my charge and we will go elsewhere. Our poor teenager was near tears saying she'd pay it somehow! I said absolutely not, there are many other tailors we can go to. They unpinned the dress and we left. If you go here be very careful of them discussing things between themselves in a foreign language (rude!) and trying to sneak in a higher price without you noticing. Very shady business practices and dishonest people here. I would suggest you go elsewhere. Kim's Alterations are maybe 5 miles away and she did a fantastic job and charged $95 and the dress did not need to be altered as much as Tara said it needed to be. read more

You can count on Tara and her fellow seamstresses for your wedding dress needs. I walked in with my mom's wedding dress from 1968. I took it to three different places for comparison purposes and one place even told me they couldn't do anything with it but add a corset up the back to make it fit. Eeek! Not only did Tara's offer wonderful design suggestions, they are timely, reasonably priced (all things considered) and were confident in their work. I was extremely pleased with the detail work they did with the lace, lowering the "boat neck" design to a more attractive neckline on me. They did an incredible French bustle, maintaining the integrity of the dress, while making it mine. My mom was also very pleased with the outcome which, of course, made me happy! read more

SAME DAY SERVICE!! I bought my suit at Nordstrom and decided to get it tailored there for convenience. It took Nordstrom over a week to make some simple changes to my suit and when I tried it on, I wasn't happy with the job they did on the pants. I called Tara Tailor and explained that I was leaving for an out of town wedding the next day so I needed my pants fixed that same day. She told me to come in right away so I did and a few hours later, they were fixed and looked great! I'm not sure if same day service is a common thing for this location but she squeezed me in last minute and I'm really happy with the service! read more

It was my first time at Tara Tailor. She was recommended by my boss and I am very pleased with the service. I had to get my wedding dress altered. I was very nervous about getting alterations done, especially since the hem was lace and hand beaded. The price was good for the amount of work they had to do. When I first tried on my dress before the alterations, I was not very happy with the dress and was depressed to wear it. After the alterations I felt like it was a new dress and a fresh start with it. They had great customer service and got the dress done before the time they quoted me. Tara is simply the best!! I took my wedding dress to Tara for alterations. She is really sweet and made me feel so comfortable and at ease about the alterations she would make on my dress. Initially she said I would only need 2 fittings. Each time we made slight changes and I felt confident that she would do a great job. At the final fitting she told me not to gain or lose any weight :). Well, with all of the stress that comes along with wedding planning, I lost some weight after I had picked up the dress. This is a wonderful place to go to for any alteration needs. Tara and her staff are super friendly and do a thorough job for a good price. I work late and a few times have made it just as they're closing but the ladies there are always willing to stay and help me. I have lived nearby for the past year and we have used Tara's numerous times. At one point I was flying out frequently across the county for interviews and of course using the same suit for all of them. When I only had 2 days between flights I dropped off the suit and came by early to see if they were done. They still had the jacket left to do so I went to the nearby Starbucks and by the time I came back she had finished my suit and came out to my car to let me know.
