I've been to this Target a number of times and it's great in a pinch. It is much smaller than other locations so don't expect everyyyyything but it's usually good enough for my needs! I've also gone to this location to pick up items bought online and never had an issue. I like the free underground parking garage, I've always been able to find a spot. I do agree with other reviewers' that they don't seem to have enough employees at this location. There are a lot of self-check registers so I wonder if that may be the reason, but I never see employees around the store assisting people. They also have a lot of empty space on shelves. It's kind of surprising for such a small Target to have so few items stocked, but that's the norm here. Overall though, this small Target gets the job done for me! Some of the employees, including at the Starbucks, are rude and need to learn customer service. Saying, "Are you gonna order"? or being annoyed that I ask if you work here is absolutely unacceptable. Get a different job if you don't like interacting with the public. Note: if you want sugar or stirrers for your coffee, they're behind the counter and you'll get attitude for asking. In contrast, the employees who do returns are great, helpful and PROFESSIONAL. Once I found out what's listed in stock at this location on the website actually was not. The employee was apologetic but it also took over 5 minutes for an employee to come to assist in a locked merchandise area. Parking underneath the store, entrance is on Westgate,south of Santa Monica Blvd. This Target has a Starbucks inside! I haven't had an issue with the staff here as I have read the other reviews. I am only giving this one 4 stars because this is a smaller Target when compared to the regular larger stores, however I am grateful for having a Target in my neighborhood. Was looking for CVS and the internet took me to Target. Parked inside the underground garage (1 hour free). The very friendly and kind associate, Lorraine, told me there is no longer a CVS here but did tell me where the closest one is. Since I was already at Target, I decided to explore. This is a mini Target so it doesn't have all the things a large Target would have but it had a lot of nice merchandise. The store is very clean and organized. I shopped in the produce department and they had so many good items at reasonable prices! They even had organic items. Way to go Target!! There was one long checkout line but it went super fast. There were three cashiers checking people out. Rene was our cashier and he was super friendly and packed everything really well. Also of note is that this Target has a large Starbucks at the street entrance. I saw someone in line with a drink and it looked so good! Overall, this was a nice surprise. Open up the entrance on Westgate and Santa Monica Blvd. Why is it always locked? Those of us that live in the neighborhood walk to Target and it's so inconvenient to have to walk to the entrance on the opposite end of the store. There may be one worker for every 100 customers here. Always a line to check out of the single open register. Today I went to pick up an online order, thinking that might spare me from the hour long checkout. But alas, a single person working the customer service returned items of two people for over 25 min. When I asked a different worker if I could just pick up my already paid for order, she responded "I'm doing something else right now." This Target gets the job done. It has the essentials but you won't see much variety. It's a small Target (the one in Westwood is bigger). This Target has a small Starbucks location inside too! Parking: you park in the garage and it's free if your visit is within an hour. I've lived in Sawtelle for 6 months+ and go to this Target very often. I have never had to pay for parking since my visits are never close to an hour. I've come here for a wide range of things: groceries, batteries, toiletries, etc. Sometimes I'll check the app to make sure they have the item I want but you should generally expect your type of item will be here, but maybe not the brand or specific item. Even then, sometimes the app will have some discrepancies with store stock. I didn't interact much with the staff but they all seem friendly enough. My bad, I clicked "NO" on the Android Pay check-in post affirmative answer because I wasn't wearing my reading glasses. Mea culpa... There's a Starbucks, a CVS pharmacy, plenty of essentials, fashion for the family, home designs, greeting cards, gift items, user friendly self-check outs but what impressed me most was the Market, vast and totally competitive with Ralphs and Trader Joes blocks to the south of Santa Monica Boulevard at Olympic. Target LA Sawtelle is definitely a more convenient food/nutrient rich source alternative in what is otherwise a semi-food desert since the nearby Vons at Barrington and Santa Monica was razed. Rumor has it a Whole Foods will rise from Von's ashes, keep an eye on the real estate... Those blocks to the south, a neighborhood shopping destination for mobile, healthy residents is a given. But for those, who lack transportation or have disability and cannot frequent aforementioned grocers, enter navigable Target LA Sawtelle! Is Target LA Sawtelle a destination for me? Depends on what I'm shopping for. First visit, produce looked a tad tired but willing to re-visit as triple washed Organic Girl® greens were $1 less than my walkable Bristol Farms! This location has everything you can find at a regular Target although this location is smaller. There is a Starbucks and a Pharmacy inside. Really nice and helpful staff. Then discovered that each of the two $4 shirts I returned (from online order), they keep a $1 shipping fee. When I asked why, the cashier didn't know and was clearly overhwhelmed by the crowds. When I asked to speak to the manager, I was told "I can call the Manager, BUT HE WILL NOT COME." Clearly this store is being mismanaged (or maybe not managed?). I read some of the other reviews when I got here to leave mine and I see so many people are having the same experience: - Bags not put into the cart, left behind. - NO way to contact them to rectify the situation. - THEY DO NOT ANSWER THE PHONE. Phone rings incessantly no matter which extension you choose; electronics, general merch, food, then just hangs up. Clearly this is their goal. - Apathetic employees block the Chas registers that have the motorized belts (convenient for customers but they are closed, of course). - Long lines to pay while 4 employees stand around and look on and herd you into the self-checkout. Like I need someone to stand there and point to an open station. - ONE cashier working at the counter register so you have to hand each item to them individually, they scan it and (if you're lucky) put it in the bag and hand bags back to you. So much back and forth that it's not surprising they forget to give you all your bags. - I spent a week calling them at different times during business hours, hoping to get someone. Never any answer. How do they operate like this?? I will be calling upper management to see if I can get a resolution. I want my $20 worth if items I paid for. Clearly this is how Target does business - given all of the other people with this problem. This location must be a huge profit center for Target. I would give this place a negative 100 if I could. Where to begin - aisles are too narrow so carts can't get by each other like every other Target. Organization of the store makes no sense whatsoever. Check out lanes not open so you either have to self checkout or use the return lines which have space for maybe five items. And because I had to use the return line, the cashier packs the bags and puts them wherever they fit which caused at least two of my bags not to make it into the cart. I've been trying to call this Target for 30 minutes to find the bags they left behind but NO ONE ANSWERS THE PHONE IN ANY DEPARTMENT!!!!!!!!!! I had the worst experience at this target location today. First off when I asked about an item to three employees chatting together the lady wasn't helpful until I insisted for her help then at the checkout I mentioned to the cashier that I wanted cash back but after she checked out my items I realized we didn't do the cash back. When I asked what could be done she and another employee said I could buy a small item like candy. I don't want any candy. Also the only reason I went into The store was to get cash back to give a homeless lady I saw doing laundry across the street and decided to pick up 2 items I wanted to get. When I came up with I could return one item then purchase it back they told me I would need to join the line ??!! That's customer service for you !! This location is super convenient for people who live in Santa Monica or West LA. The parking is easy and doesn't require validation. But the store is so tiny!!! It often doesn't have what I'm looking for, unless I'm only looking for a very staple item (or if I'm not picky about the variety). I have had some good buys here, but for most shopping trips will still at least drive over to the Westwood location. I think 1/3 of this store is dedicated to grocery items, and the freezer section is disproportionally large, so if that's what you're looking for, this could be your store! read more

This is must be an LA thing because a Target that have their underground parking with parking fees every hours, who does that? Obviously not in San Diego, but again does it make sense if anyone would like to hang out inside a Target for more than an hour? Probably not, I mean the homeless people don't drive, so why should they park their cars down below this structure anyway. And again if you're like me, just trying to find a spot to hang around until the traffic die down, then you might stay longer than an hour, I can maybe try to move my car in and out every hour to avoid paying parking fee, but this Target has nothing to offer me, the toy aisle pretty empty, like I said they limit the toys to one aisle only, no collectibles, no Marvel Legends, they got a few left over stuffs, so just like any Walgreens or CVS drugs stores, I just can't stay here, and they were so rich that within a 20 miles radius they have 3 Targets but zero Walmart, I mean people here boycotted Walmart or what? but again if you just go in for groceries and leave, yeah you're in the right place. This Target is designed to be a neighborhood, URBAN, small footprint target. And, it's an awesome one at that. Here's what I love: 1) this Target carries ALL THE BASICS if you're looking for groceries ((organic, too), household or beauty/personal care products. 2) the service and knowledge provided by the in-house CVS pharmacy is PHENOMENAL. It beats all the other neighborhood options around here. Kathy (Head pharmacist) and her staff really knock themselves out. 3) Great neighborhood vibe. The location is awesome--we live nearby and it's truly walkable. Super down-home friendly staff who are not only super professional, but they acknowledge returning customers. What more can I say? They have a grocery section so you don't have to drive to a grocery store for many items and at prices usually less than you would pay at Ralphs, Whole Foods, or Vons or most other places. They have a CVS drug store with more limited hours--check the website-- so you don't have to drive to 26th Street or San Vicente. They have bicycle racks on Santa Monica Blvd to lock up or the post in front of the store entrance. But best of all: You can order many things online at Target.com for same day pickup if they stock it or future day pickup. I have been doing this for a long time with other Targets. So it's like we have a Super Target in the neighborhood even though its a mini-Target. When I order online, if the item is in stock like toothpaste or vitamins, it is ready for pickup within 30 minutes sometimes less. Depends on how busy they are. You just show your ID, they get the bag or box, and you are on your way. They also have a Starcrooks coffee inside. But keep in mind, Starcrooks just licenses the name and provides the coffee, it's not an official Starcrooks so I would not get fancy with the drinks here. read more

I walked in and the fire alarms were going off. I've visited plenty of Targets before and never had this issue so that was odd. It went on for a good 5-8 minutes as well. Bathrooms are in the back but you need a code to get in. I guess you are supposed to ask someone for that? It wasn't made super clear. The only reason I knew was because there was a high amount of Target employees going in and out of the area. We will call this new Westside Target "Target Lite" it's all shiny and new and has the basics in all departments but without the superstore selection. They have a well staffed pharmacy and a Starbucks. What the store lacks is good employees (at least the evening I was there) One female supervision and her male employee admirer were completely oblivious to me and other shoppers looking around for items (I found on my own thanks) Not good. I really wanted to like this target because of how close it is from my place. However, I will be going to the Westwood location for several reasons: 1. I don't know how they can't keep their inventory correct when they literally have nothing I need. Don't believe it when the app says it's in stock. 2. No drive up option for online orders 3. Their escalator has been broken for weeks now. 4. They messed up on my mobile order - they put a less expensive one. If I didn't check, I wouldve gotten a wrong item and got overcharged. What a poor excuse for a Target. This place is so bite-sized, it must be one of the smallest target stores in the nation because their selection is severely limited. So much so, that it feels more like a glorified Walgreens. Indeed the 1-floor target is super , super small. The fact they have a parking garage is also hilarious as it's strictly exclusive to their store. It's not like it's a 'share' amongst other stores similar to rite aid and fat burger on wildfire. It would be better served them to expand their store, rather than be so overly concerned with accommodating customers parking situation. I came in here for simply cat litter and feed.
