My experience here at Target Optical Manteca was wonderful from start to finish. Making the appointment was easy, and check-in today (2/21/26) was smooth and organized. The Hispanic lady at the front desk (I didn't catch her name) was incredibly professional and kind. She even kept our little one occupied and played with her, which she absolutely didn't have to do. That meant a lot to us. Dr. Krishna Patel was very helpful and took the time to clearly explain my prescription options so I could make the best decision. I'm honestly surprised by some of the negative reviews because today they had a full team of five staff members on the floor assisting patients. Very bad customer service as of late. Been going here for years. Recently called about 3 weeks before my prescription expired to order more contacts. The lady said they dnt make the brand I use anymore and that she would have to order trials and she wants to see me since my prescription expires soon but I told them I do not want to waste $ on an exam when my prescription is still valid so I asked if I can have my prescription emailed so I can order contacts myself before it expires. Doctor said she would take care of me and I wouldn't have to pay the exam not sure if I was still going to have to take the exam though. Once I finally got the trials I tested them for a few days and called back to order but was told the doctor has to finalize everything before I can order and would get a call back. 2 weeks pass and finally get a call just to be told the doctor wants to see me and I would have to pay for the exam. They absolutely would not help me and said I could contact corporate but would not give me the information. Very unprofessional. Customers should not be treated this way. If you are a lifelong prescription person for optometrics please don't discount Target for all of your ocular needs! Allyssa was very professional, friendly, and pleasant to work with. She explained the lens types and the advantages of certain lenses including progressive and transitional lenses. The prices are about average compared to most shops and there are various ways to use discounts depending on your insurance. Allyssa will even take the time to adjust older pairs of frames that might be out of whack. If you need an opinion on what frame matches your face she is willing to share her favorite as you narrow down your search. They have a nice selection of designer lenses including Ray Ban and Oakley along with a nice selection of frames for women. If you are into tech they also have the new interactive Meta series of frames. In short, we enjoy coming here for our new frames and appreciate the excellent customer service. read more

Basically I had to throw $700 glasses away as they did not fit me properly. After having my eye exam here, I looked around for my new pair of glasses. I found a really cute pair and one of the ladies at the counter helped me to place my order. When you are looking at the glasses you are only wearing them for a few minutes and really you are trying to see how they look on you. It is the responsibility of the store to make sure that the glasses you take off the display are going to fit you properly. Glasses come in different sizes and the general ppublic would not know what size they are, or what sizes the glasses come in. After getting my glasses, on day 2, they were really tight around my ears, to the point I was getting a headache and I could not stand the pain. I thought they just needed to be adjusted. I went back to the store and another lady was at the counter. She looked at the glasses and measured me (I was NOT measured on the firs tvisit) and she looked at me and said "these are the wrong size, you need the next size up.) What? Why wasn't this done at the initial visit??? So I asked her what my option were as I had just spent $700 and she said nothing. You would have to order an entire new pair and pay full price. This is just crazy. Not to mention unprofessional and could have been avoided if the first lady would have measured me correctly as is her job. They straight up Lie to you, and so unprofessional I was seen on 2/22/25 but had to wait even thought I had an appoitment. The Dr. Rushed through my appoitment. I was specific that I wanted daily multi focal lenses. I was told they would order them, it would take a about a week. Two weeks later, I was called and told they had come in. What I got was monthly, I asked about daily. They told me they would place a rush on them, two weeks later I called and was told they did not make dailys for my Rx, but I could tri the standard focus lens. I said ok, two weeks later I called and was told they just shipped and it would take about five days, another week I called and was told that there was a backlog on my Rx as it was unusual. They lied about them being on the way. I asked for my Rx, so I could order myself and was told they would try to get to it today, after being on hold off and on for 18 mins. Two Months later 2/22 Seen - 4/22 Gave Up I placed the order online, and paid for express shipping so I will have it in a day. They also told me not to come in when they open as they need about 15 minutes to set up the shop. ??? read more

The optometrist was good with my exam. I didn't have an issue with the exam. My issue is that upon calling them they told me that I was all covered and that they accept VSP. I get there and it pretty clear on my benefits plan that it was up to 60* co pay for contact lens fitting and 10* copay. I was charged $80 without an itemized receipt and later told by the receptionist that they aren't in network when I was about to order my contact lens. Mind you I have a $150 allowance for contact lens. She proceeded to tell me that two boxes would cost me 140 plus tax. I respectfully declined and told her I would order elsewhere as I can get them cheaper online. I called 1800 contacts to order and realized that this business put a "hold" on my allowance benefit. It was the old bait and switch if you ask me. I was able to call VSP directly to fix this as I didn't authorize or had any interest to order lenses with this optical. It was as though the receptionist made sure if I didn't use my allowance with their business I wouldn't be able to use it anywhere. I've never had this happen to me and normally never go elsewhere for an eye exam but my current optometrist didn't have any availability for another two weeks. The eye doctor was very nice and friendly, but I don't feel like the exam was very thorough. I'm used to a private eye doctor that spends much more time on my eyes. I was also charged a separate copay for my "contact lens fitting" even though I've been wearing the same contacts for years and have been to this exact doctor once before. I've never been charged more than the regular exam deductible. As for the receptionist, she was very pushy and focused on selling, as opposed to helping customers find a good, affordable option. She is definitely not very friendly and just comes off as rude. I would rather spend the extra money at my local, out-of-network doctor, where I get much more personal care. read more

This review is not about the doctor. In fact, she was very good. The salesperson lied to me to get the $258 sale on top of my copay. I clearly asked for no add ons that are not covered by my plan except she talked me into transitional lenses which is not covered and I paid for. The rest I even asked her before paying if there are any more add ons she can remove because I do not want them. She said no! itoday I called my vision plan I was getting more and more upset every day about this large bill for the eyeglasses. So my vision plan the representative called Target for me to find out what I was paying for and she spoke to the same sales person I will not say her name and was told it's all add-ons transitional lenses which she talked me into and I am responsible for paying for theirs antiglare blue later or like five other add-ons that I did not want and I asked her two times if there was anything for her to remove I went in expecting to pay up to $100 that was my budget and I said it at the beginning I'm not paying any more than my budget I figured out I had something to worry about when I returned two days later with my son for his exam and the lady the sales person didn't want anything to do with us because my son did not need glasses and my son told me wow she was mad she didn't get the sale and that's when and she did not remember me at all from two days before. well I will not shop at target anymore ever again because of the sales person I'm a single parent I work very hard and I'm on a budget and I do not appreciate being taken advantage of because I am not familiar with eyeglasses I don't get them more than once every year or every two years she's the expert and she was lying to me I wouldn't go there again and I will not very very very disappointing read more

We had gone to other optical places, and the service and staff interaction was lacking. Several years ago, we inadvertently ended up at Manteca's Target Optical and the service and staff experience has been outstanding. Susan, Allysa, and Toni have all been great to work with!! And the prices have been much more affordable than other the locations; the exam and cost of glasses has been much better; and in some cases, the options for your glasses are included where other places will nickel and dime you for every additional option. So I'll start off by saying for most of the staff, they are friendly, but that's about the only thing they have going for them. This review does not come off of one questionable experience. Two family members received prescriptions that were way too unnecessary and strong for them. Also their prices are not great for the quality. Most recently a purchase with insurance was way to inflated. Usually an itemized receipt is given but this time around there wasn't one until requested and even then I was just shown pricing on the tablet and not a print out. When questioned why the lense with so outrageous they claim they have to tack on all the extras because it's policy. Well I questioned this because they never did before. I ended up calling another target optical center and found out that isn't true! The sales person straight up lied and overcharged me! The glasses were an emergency need and I had already paid so there is nothing to be done but complain where most likely they'll denied so saving mysteries headache and writing this review to save someone else the trouble! Go to Costco cause their deals are waaayyy better and the staff is way friendlier! Target Optical in Manteca is bad for prescription and sales prices! read more

These review is for Manteca branch. The doctor is very nice and patient, not like in Stanton, she is always in rush and not so nice when i'm asking a question. The staff who is Susan is very knowledgeable, polite and articulate, she does everything to make customers comfortable and she is very accommodating and see to it that she attends to every customers need and she's good in multitasking. I am happy with my eyeglass and i got progressive and now I'm waiting for my prescription sunglass and computer eyeglass, I'm from Modesto but I don't mind goin here even there's also more optical shop in our area because it well worth it not like my experience in Stanton, i just waste my money for their wrong prescription. read more

They have awful customer service. The two doctors aren't on the same page. They screw up the orders and appointments. No one can call you back in a timely manner. Almost always two weeks after they say they will call you is when to expect an answer. read more

Three stars only for the doctor. Front office staff is rude and impatient. I absolutely adore the doctor but the two women in the front today were unprofessional and rude. I called to receive a copy of my contact orders. Coming in it was rushed and unhappy. I asked a question and got nothing more than a ton of attitude.
