Mike and Ethan in the office were wonderful and conducted an easy check-in and the first part of my eye exam they were so nice and explained everything in great detail. The doctor herself is such a wonderful human. She literally explained everything step-by-step. She was so very patient with me and had me laughing just to relieve my stress. Mary & Arlinda are seriously the perfect team. Mary walked up and down the aisles, looking at almost every pair of glasses watching me try them on and really helping me pick the perfect pair. I love every time she picks something out for me. Her taste is impeccable! Arlinda is so sweet. She fits me for the glasses and double check triple check to make sure everything is perfect. She knew that it was my birthday and is going to try to get them to me as fast as possible. How very nice I know it's not a guarantee but just the fact that she said she was going to try means so much to me. I've worn glasses for 55 years and this is my second year getting glasses at Costco optical in Saint Charles and let me tell you they are my favorite in every way shape and form.

Please note: I have amended/updated my original review below, as after another inquiry I was able…read moreto book an appointment on August 4th, and my insurance plan now seems to be accepted again. I commend them for being so kind, apologetic, and telling me "changes have been made." From what I was told, Dr. King was none too happy when he was personally informed that a long-time client was basically turned away at the door on the date of their appointment - willing to pay cash. My advice to anybody reading my first review below and who may fit this category - call them again and see if your insurance is now accepted or another arrangement can be made, as they told me "changes have been made since the new year". Also, I now believe you MAY be able to pay out of pocket if you choose. Just call to double check with them. Please see my review now for my latest appointment: August 4th appointment (updated review): VERY pleased with the appointment, punctuality in which I was taken (I was barely in the waiting room 5 minutes before being called), the technician who helped me (I believe her name was Amber - friendly, professional, very thorough, cute, cute glasses), and Dr. King who again was very thorough and very nice. Turns out my eye irritation was possibly allergy related (either on it's own, or POSSIBLY indirectly related to a possible condition I may have such as fibromyalgia or something auto-immune, and I was prescribed special eye drops for the next few months. I say "possible" because that diagnosis hasn't YET been made by my other doctors as far as conclusively. But, I at least have more information on how to comfort the eye discomfort I have been having for 6+ months thanks to my visit with Dr. King. I was very pleased with my visit and all the staff (I have been coming here pretty regularly since I have been a teenager) and will continue to come here for my eye-related needs. Again as stated above, if you had previous problems (the past year) with insurance providers or payment issues, please at least give them a second call to see if things may have changed or other arrangements can possibly be made.

When I arrived, I was told they don't take either my eye or my medical insurance and I would need to pay cash. Okay, fine; at this point I am desperate so I pay the $265 exam fee. Dr. Hawkins saw me and said she thought I have a tear duct infection but didn't want to treat it "aggressively" with oral antibiotics yet. So she gave me eye drops and told me to follow up in 2 days... Here we are, 2 days later following up (oh, and there is a $145 fee for a follow up) with a raging infection in my eye, sitting in the waiting room waiting for a doctor. My appointment was over an hour ago and no one has apologized, acknowledged me, or anything. I've asked twice and have been told "shortly." If I hadn't already paid for my appointment and had I not really needed an eye doctor, I would've just found someone else to see another day. I suggest you look other places if you are looking for personal, quality, and friendly eye care.

I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Do not visit Walmart Vision Center, and especially Dr…read more Sam Baker! I called around to a few places to find out how much it would cost for an eye exam for contact lenses, and if that included regular contacts and color contacts or if colored would be extra. I was told that it would be one cost for both, and it would b $75. Great, the cheapest I could find by at least $10, and they could get me in sooner. I booked an appointment. Once I got through my appointment, I asked for a copy of my contact prescription; I purchase them online. I was told that the dotor would not give me a copy of my prescription until I returned a week later; I had to wear the contact lenses for a week, then come back so he could make sure they fit right or something. To get a prescription for the colored contact lenses, I had to do the same thing - wear the contacts for a week, then come back so he could check them. The fitting for the colored lenses wouldn't include actual colored lenses, but clear lenses of that brand. I think I've been a bit confusing, so let me be clear: I would have to wait 2 weeks to get my prescription, because I had to wear each pair for a week. My problem lies with the fact that I'm not new to contact lenses. I've worn them since I was about 13 years old... so about 14 years. In fact, I've worn the EXACT BRAND of clear contact lenses that he re-prescribed for over a year with no problems whatsoever. If I had never worn contacts before, and *possibly* even if I was switching brands, then I could see him wanting me to come back. However, every time I've ever had my eyes checked, the doctor tells me to come back if there's a problem with them. I think I even would have understood if he wanted to check the colored contact lenses, because it's been several years since I've worn them. When I returned for my final visit, for the check and to get my prescription, I was told he couldn't give me a prescription unless I tried on colors. What does the color of your contacts have to do with the power of the prescription? Nothing. But he said, "What if you don't like them?" I explained that I'd looked online and found what colors I wanted, and if I didn't like them it was not going to be HIS fault; additionally, there was more than one color I wanted to purchase. Unfortunately, he refused to give me the prescription until I tried on colors. I gave in. I tried on the colored contacts, and they slipped a bit in my eyes. I told them that I had called earlier that week with this concern - the base curve of my eye didn't match that of these lenses, and I didn't want to have to go through the entire process another time if I couldn't wear these contacts. The girl who I spoke with told me that it wouldn't matter because they were the same brand, which apparently isn't quite true. All in all, I was completely driven insane by this place; they gave me the run-around and no one there seems to know what they're doing or talking about, even the doctor. I would never return to this place for an exam (luckily I'm moving into Chicago in a few weeks, so it won't be an issue), and though the exam I had last year was at a Walmart - with a guy who was fantastic and handed me my prescription as soon as we were finished - this experience has made me feel like these people are totally incompetent. Oh, and remember how the major reason I went here is because it had the lowest price, which is all I could afford? They told me $75 on the phone, then charged me $85. Too bad the discrepancy didn't dawn on me until after I left.

He did follow up calls of his own initiative and had expert insight into vision health. I would recommend him and this vision center for fast, efficient, careful and helpful staff. We stuck with the cheaper frames, and our friends pay hundreds for theirs - ours work just as well, look just as good and cost 10-30$ - so if they get broken, it's much easier on the wallet to replace. Also, they offer this great service if you just walk into Walmart at anytime you can get your glasses tightened, re-fitted, adjusted, and cleaned for no charge. I think you can't beat the St. Charles Walmart vision center. And no one is paying me to write this, I am merely a pleased customer.
