Target, South Mountain-Phoenix, AZ. Mid-Nov, 2025. We had just arrived in Phoenix for a 6-night vacation, and needed to pick up some groceries that we could cook in our rental condo. We ended up at Target largely because it was close to where we had eaten brunch, and we were already conveniently parked for the store. Pros: *Convenience. Target allows one-stop shopping for general merchandise, as well as groceries. The store was also easy to access from E. Baseline Road, our rental condo, and nearby restaurants. Parking was free and plentiful. *Target offers both name brands, and many products under their own Good & Gather (GG) brand which are of high-quality and offer good value. For instance, in order to make some Caesar salads with chicken, we bought a bag of frozen and tasty GG diced chicken breasts ($8.49, 20 oz), GG Parmesan cheese ($1.99), and more. *The grocery section was clean and well-organized, and we found everything that we intended to buy. *We were pleasantly surprised that AZ doesn't charge sales tax on groceries. Cons: *We intended to buy a lot of fruits and vegetables, but we were disappointed by the selection and prices in this category at this store. We did buy lettuce, bananas, etc. *Prices on basic items weren't as competitive as we expected them to be, especially without the use of store promotions or coupons. We understand that Target offers price matching, but we didn't have time to do comparison shopping. read more

He then proceeded to have his family show up to the store and buy product. He lied to us out right and deserves reprimand as the store could face issues with the distributor if the distributor finds out about this. Whenever I'm in town this is my go-to Target. One of the most organized Targets I've shopped in & the inventory is pretty steady. There's a Starbucks located inside the store as well, yet cognizant of the never-ending lack of inventory. Seems a majority of the employees are young, yet they're not skipping a beat by being friendly & going out of their way to be helpful. read more

Horrible management. Bree walks around stating that she is the "Management Store Lead", with her horrible attitude, I beg to differ! Just wow! The pickup at this location is a mess. Plan on sitting in your car for 30 minutes. I have witness multiple get out of their cars to go inside to get their items. There's currently a lady upset talking to the people out here and got her order. This is the most unorganized chaotic mess. The purpose of pickup is to make things faster and this is slower than parking and going into the store myself. This is ridiculous. The manager should be ashamed. read more

This is the closet one to me, unfortunately it is so run down do to the amount of people. I do understand that there is a shortage of staff, but wish they could focus on the presentation and cleanliness. The garbage outside is always overflowing, there is always trash when you walk-in and the floors in the Starbucks area are a disappointment. Well, it's a Target! This store has gotten increasingly busy/crowded and parking isn't always the best here. This store over the past 2-3 years has been having supply issues so a lot of items are out of stock and the app just can't keep up, many times I've gone and roughly 80%of my orders can't be fully fulfilled due to not having items in stock even though the app says it is in stock. The pickup has only gotten more and more congested so often a "quick pickup" has been sitting in 1 spot waiting for my order to come out for 20-30 minutes at times. It's still a Target, still decent, just some issues of convenience that have been popping up lately. read more

This Target is bizarre... we moved to the area recently so I have been to this location about 5 times. I have literally NEVER seen a single employee on a cash register... only the 4 self checkout stands have been open every time I've come in. If I had to get a full cart worth of items I would probably go elsewhere because there's no way I'm going to scan it all at self checkout when there's a fair amount of employees wandering around the store. read more

I came in on a mission to get what I needed and get out. My son sprung a last minute project on me and I needed a printer fast. I am not a technology friendly person so this worried me. What do I need? Will I have to come back for a cord? Or ink? I walk into target and head straight for the printer section. I wasn't even all the way in the aisle when Jayvoughn (spelling my bad) welcomed me with a friendly smile and "are you finding everything okay" in which I replied no please help!!!! He was awesome asked me all the right questions to find out what exactly i was looking for and made sure I had everything I needed to do this last minute project. He even took me right to the registers and cashed me out. Thank you Jayvoughn (again spelling). You were amazing and made my night. EXCEPTIONAL customer service. It was my first time using their drive through pick up where you place an order and they bring it out to your car. I was in a hurry as I have a lot to get done today and have to work over the holiday weekend. Somehow I got a large back of sidewalk chalk rather than all the Easter candy I ordered. I had to call twice (first time phone kept ringing and then they just hung up) and then drive back and go inside the store and wait in the long service desk line to pick up the remainder of my order. I will go ahead and say I'll stick with Walmart next time for pickup orders, even though it's much further from my house they've never gotten my order wrong. Bad first impression Target. read more

This Target has turned into a complete dump. The parking lot is ALWAYS full of trash. Not target's fault but the trash is in their lot so they need to clean it up daily. It has also become impossible to shop there because a lot of the shelves are bare. If you go to North Phoenix or Ahwatukee the Target's there are nice and full of product. Target needs to clean up their mess as there is no reason for this. The Starbucks in this target is also a complete joke. I went yesterday and will never ever go there again. I wasted my money. I ordered a grande iced americano with 1 pump of chai. The barista (if you can even call him that) assured me he only put 1 pump of chai in my coffee. I questioned him because I saw him hit the pump 3-4 times. I tasted my coffee and all I could taste was sugar. Needless to say the coffee I spent over $5 on went in the trash. I wasn't going to argue with the guy AGAIN that I saw him hit the pump 3-4 times when I asked for 1 pump of chai. Workers are so careless and lazy. I will take my business elsewhere. read more

On first arriving to this Target, I was concerned if it could ever live up to the Targets in California. However, I was not disappointed! I came here in search of a gift for my little baby boo. We ventured through each aisle trying to find the perfect present, that'll really make her cry tears of joy! The store was clean and everything was pretty organized. I feared for my safety, however, when I entered to the sound of a baby crying. It really ruined my day, and actually moved myself to tears. My only complaint that tainted the Target experience was that only two checkouts were open on a Saturday afternoon! Every professional Targeter knows that Saturday is the busiest day, and two checkouts meant long lines. I got lost and feared for my life. Overall, this target was the real bomb diggity! read more

I've been shopping at this target for years and it has really gone down hill. I use to order drive "pick up" but the staff seems not to care if you don't get all the items you have paid for. So my weekly orders became monthly and now I'm never ordering again. I only needed to pick up cereal and a case of Pepsi and I waited 25 min in the parking lot. I watched other shoppers being impatient and walking up and touching all over other peoples orders and bags looking for theirs. Not sanitary. They handed me my cereal but had given my Pepsi away to a different customer who just grabbed it. No one made any effort to get me another one quickly. I'm never shopping here again. read more

My experience has always been during the day at this Target location. I have never had to wait in long lines or have difficulty finding store staff to help me. The moment you walk in the carts are neatly stacked at the front door. On the left is the customer service booth where there is always someone available to help you including returns. On the right is the dining area. Starbucks on deck and a mini café filled with yummy treats. Then there is the store. Like most Targets everything is neat and in order. The store is laid out just like the rest of them in the valley. This is a good size target that includes a grocery store. Customer service at this location is superb. Everyone is always so willing to help. They will even walk you to the isle to show you were the items you need are. Yes, the hand holding technique is appreciated and makes me spend more. read more

Everything is always clean, the shelves are always stocked, and the employees are always very helpful whenever I need something. I've been shopping at this Target for years and have never had any issues. I also use the pharmacy here and would recommend them. They always fill my prescriptions quickly and promptly answer any questions I might have. read more

I love Target over Walmart. I really don't care if it's over priced ill pay for the convince to walk in this clean store and actually be greeted by the Employees. I absolutely despise this Target. Every single time I go in there they are out of stock on half of the items I need. Last time I was looking for something specific (over the door mirror), I looked on line and it said they were in stock, I called the store, they then confirmed they were in stock. I get to the store (I live 5 minutes away) ... Yep not one in stock. Another experience went like this.. Bought $300 worth of crap, get home and the dog food containers I purchased (which says so on my receipt) are not there. I call and they ask me to recall what register I was at. Is this on the receipt? No. How the hell am I supposed to remember... They then tell me they will look around and if they see them I can come back and get them. No one ever called... When I called back they told me to come in. When I went in the manager argued with me "Are you sure" blah blah... It took 2 calls and 3 hours of my time to get the 2 dog food containers I paid $8 bucks each for. I'm glad others are having better experiences here, but for me this Target sucks. read more

I was at Target last Sunday looking for a product and nothing on the shelf in fact very little of the trail mix. There was very little stocked on the shelves for being a Sunday and the new ad coming out.. Also on the floor were price tags just scattered around. I went to the men's department and clothes on the floor and again very little product to chose from.. Made me thing of Walmart. We went to check out and only two lanes open and six to seven people standing in line and a front end manager just standing there looking around.. After complaining they finally opened a couple of Lanes. I hate to say this but this is getting just as bad as Walmart. That being said the Pharmacy is very professional and always provides great customer service unlike the rest of the store. read more

Yes, we've had a problem with an employee once or twice. If you go anywhere long enough you will always run into the bad apple, or that person that is just having a bad day. Overall, very nice people. I hate waiting in lines (that's why we don't go to K-Mart any more) ... most of the time we only have to wait a couple of people in line, and the checkers always seem to move the people right along. The pharmacy over the years has had a variety of staff, but they all have been pleasant and helpful. Some we even got to the point where they knew us as we walked up. I enjoy target and the selection they have. It's great and pretty easy to navigate for the most part. The employees in the aisles could be a little more helpful as I did have to walk around quite a bit before finding what I was looking for and no one seemed to have wanted to help as everyone was very busy. The checkout employee was wonderful and attentive at the self checkout with taking my basket. It was a fast experience but I did feel a bit inconvenienced because there certain items I needed to check the price on and the self price checker was down but other than that it was a fast easy trip. read more

This past Saturday, I had gone into this location to buy something for my classroom for the upcoming school year. One of the items I bought was a pack of pens that cost $18. When I left, I put my things in the car and did not touch them until yesterday. When I checked my bag I found that my pens were not in there. I called the store and they told me to bring in my receipt and they would see what they could do. I went into the store and spoke to a really nice girl(I didn't get her name) who looked in the bin of forgotten items and could not find my pens. Instead of telling me there was nothing she could do, she contacted the manager, Logan, to see if he could help. He was quick to respond to her page and after listening to the issue he scanned my receipt and, seeing that the pens were in stock, took me to get another pack. Both the cashier and the manager were kind and helpful. I don't frequently go into this location as I live in Avondale, however, anytime I am in the area I will be sure visit this store if I am in need of anything. This target has THE WORST customer service! I'm not sure if it's because it's on the south side of Phoenix, but I have came across very few employees who are helpful or even friendly. One example I was purchasing medela breast pump gift set I grabbed it because online it said it was a certain price I also looked at the tag on the shelf to make sure it was also that same price and it was. Checking out it came up a completely different price. The lady had someone look and they said that was the right price ( meaning they didn't actually check) I told the lady I looked at the tag before picking it up and it was the same price as it says online the lady then tells me well there's nothing I can do you need to go to the customer service desk so they can price match. Another situation, I purchased a set of bottles after bringing it home I noticed water spots in the bottles and weird hole in the nipples. I took them back and told them that there were water spots and the little hole in the nipple and for precautionary measures they shouldn't put the bottles back on the shelves. There were three girls at the customer service desk all that was said was we don't put returned baby products back on the shelf and 18.45 will go back on your card. No customer service ethic what so ever. I hate that I live literally a mile away and it's convenient to come here. read more

This Target has been my go-to location for quite some time. I have never really had any issues here and anytime I have had to deal with customer service they have always been helpful and accommodating. The layout here is pretty standard and this location is always pretty clean. Pretty middle of the road on this one. Nothing spectacular but nothing bad either. I will continue to come here when I need something they might carry and I will always come here over going to Walmart. That is for sure! PS. I got the red card that is tied to your debit/checking account and outside of initial issues with activation have not had any problems since. read more

For some reason, this location lacks in customer service. Numerous times I have had issues with price matching from the online website - (even though other target locations has done it for me, no problem at all) I am on WIC and I was spending my two checks that are worth $5.50 each for fruits and vegetables, EVERY WHERE else that i have spent these checks, they add up the total of the fruits and veggies and put the $5.50 on one check and the remaining balance on the other, I was buying strawberries for $3.99, Cuties for $2.99 and grapes for $3.99, since two items would cost more than $5, they said i can only purchase one item per check even though there was obviously extra money left on the checks. If it wasnt for this target being the closest one for like 22 miles, i would NOT shop here. I have to buy dairy/soy free products and unfortunately, target has a bigger variety of these foods than anywhere else. read more

Worst Target I've been to and unfortunately it's the closest to me. Long lines at self checkout with 3 employees standing around watching people trying to figure out how to scan and purchase their items and no registers open to actually scan items for their customers. Very frustrating. I'm all about self check out, but when the lines are long and you have that many employees standing around, maybe it's time to open an actual register to help get the line moving. I come here regularly as it's close to home. Never had an issue with the staff, friendly and helpful. However the store is not always as organized as it could be. On a few occasions I found expired (even molded bread) on the shelves, and the kids section always seems to be a bit messy. I understand customers create part of that mess but the on sale items would be easier to identify if sorted by size. read more

I second Kristin's nomination of this Target as the best Target ever! It's a super-clean and well-stocked location, and the staff is definitely really friendly and helpful. Every time I've gone, I've had employees ask me if I needed help finding anything, and today, when I had a full cart and left my wallet in the car, one of the team members offered to watch my cart while I ran out to the car. It also has a Starbucks inside, which is a huge plus for those Saturday or Sunday morning trips! read more
