Seriously top notch, and probably best in Venice! It's been years since I've experienced such a thorough yet painless cleaning so much so that I'm already looking forward to the next one. STAY AWAY!!! MISLEADING & UNETHICAL BUSINESS PRACTICES!! BEWARE of up-charging and unexpected out-of-pocket fees!!! You need to ask if every little service being provided is covered by your insurance and you will need to verify on your own or you will pay dearly! These people are looking to make a buck.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Dr. Dockus & hygienist (4 stars) provided thorough examination/ cleaning and explained treatment plan but never mentioned "additional out-of-pocket cost until " Dr left the room. His dental assistant, then shows me the treatment plan and tells me that I will owe them $118 today after the cleaning for gum treatment that is needed. Now, I've never paid for dental cleanings in the past because my insurance covers @ 100%. Despite my shock w/ cost, I agreed because I needed my teeth cleaned and was told this would help protect my gums. Post cleaning and at check out I was charged $136 total. It was also recommended that I schedule my cleanings every 3-4 months. However, my insurance only covers 2 cleanings per year (every 6 months). Prior to my exam, a full oral cancer screening was recommended which I declined after asking if it was included and paid by insurance...it wasn't and would have cost me an additional $75. Really like the Dentist & Hygenist, but not their shady business practices of trying to get more money (nickel & dime) out of their patients. Needless to say I won't be back. They need to be more transparent with costs upfront when scheduling visits!!! UPDATE: [[HIGHLIGHT]]After writing this review, Jordan their practice manger called me and left a message saying that she identified costs that I would be reimbursed for.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Today 10/29, I receive a text and email saying that I owe an addition $53 after paying $136 at my visit. These people are looking to rob you!! Their billing dept is inept and they will try to get you to schedule cleanings every 3-4 months, despite insurance only paying for 2 cleaning a year. Both my mother-in-law and wife went here and were SOLD services that "are covered by insurance", but months later they were billed $200 and $80 respectively. Stay away!!!! read more

I wanted to share my experience after several months of treatment at this dental office. Unfortunately, the process of getting a crown was far more complicated and drawn out than expected. After multiple visits and adjustments, I am now six months out and still experiencing sensitivity, which has been frustrating and concerning. [[HIGHLIGHT]]While the dentist was kind and professional, the billing and insurance experience has been extremely disappointing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was given estimates for my out-of-pocket costs that turned out to be significantly inaccurate. Months after treatment, I am still receiving additional bills. I was transparent about where my yearly insurance limit stood, but I was told that information was inaccurate. Only after receiving my most recent $1,100 bill did they claim they were now providing an accurate quote. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I called to ask why the estimated payment was so far off, the blame was placed on me for supposedly going to another office, which is false, and the representative was very rude.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I would not have continued treatment if I had known this practice was manipulative about costs and disregarded my concerns about going over my yearly limit. I am now going elsewhere to resolve my dental issues--somewhere I am not receiving surprise bills months later and where pricing is transparent. This office attempted to charge inflated prices, to the point that my insurance company had to intervene and reduce the original $4,000 charge down to $1,100. I was very upfront with the billing department about NOT wanting to continue treatment once my yearly maximum was reached, yet here we are. I did not receive any dental treatment, so this review does not cover that aspect. [[HIGHLIGHT]]In early October I made an appointment on-line (through the Tarpon Dental ["TD"] sanctioned website) for Tuesday, 10/29 at 9 AM which was confirmed by multiple auto-texts from TD telling me about my appointment, confirming my appointment, and asking me to confirm my appointment, in addition to non-automated texts that were responsive to my specific questions about the cost of a cleaning without dental insurance. A week prior I also called and spoke to a receptionist who confirmed my appointment.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Around 7 AM the day of my appointment I received a call from the Bully telling me that they "did not have space" for me.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I honestly didn't know what she meant; if I were calling to make a restaurant or hotel lodging reservation and was told that, I would understand. But if you're receiving a call two hours before an appointment that has been scheduled weeks in advance and confirmed multiple times, then, no, I don't follow. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The Bully danced around it, placing me in the ridiculous position of guesser. I came in today for my 6 month cleaning. Upon my arrival my usual hygienist did not come out and get me. To my surprise she had left the practice. I was in shock, but went ahead and did my cleaning. The hygienist was nice, but it was not near what I am used to.. For the first time since I have come there my mouth hurts.. I have pretty tight teeth at the bottom so I know there will be build up, with that said my mouth at the top hurts, my gums.. Seeing that I get my teeth cleaned every six months it shouldn't have been rough.. it just felt all over the place.. My original hygienist was very good and consistent.. This is the first time I have left disappointed and hurting since I left the other dentist office I used to go to. I am not trying to throw the current hygienist under the bus.. I do not have hard feelings against her.. Today, I had a confirmed appointment for a cleaning. When I arrived they said they had no record of appointment until I showed them confirmation on my phone. They then offered my an appointment for the following day but then said since I had not been there during Covid that I would have to have , on top of the cleaning, a consultation and full mouth x rays for an additional $350 on top of the cleaning charge. I have been a patient there for many years and clearly , it is possible to have one's teeth cleaned without the extra consultation and x rays. This is just a tactic to charge the patient a lot more money than they expected to pay. Was not going to be tricked into this. I told them to forget the whole thing and walked out. Do NOT take your children to this place. This is not a child friendly dental practice. I heard the way my 10 yo daughter was spoken to (I was in a space across from her and I had assumed they were berating an adult, which would have been bad enough). When she asked for me to be present they refused. She left in tears and was visibly shaking. The dentist actually asked me if I was "going to cry too" right before he examined me. Also, extremely outdated equipment. The water pick leaked from four different places (hygienist's words, not mine) and completely soaked my face and my shirt. WTH? The overhead light went out and had to be "reset" and the apparatus for X-rays didn't reach the chair so I had to contort my head. It was physically painful. Please avoid using this dental practice since they do not stand by their work! I was on vacation in Florida and chipped a tooth. My dentist in Illinois said he had trained one of the dentists at Tarpon, so I went to her to get a crown. Initially I had a good experience at Tarpon Shores, but the crown may well have been defective and chipped. My dentist in Illinois backs up his work for 5 years, but Tarpon would not honor their work beyond one year. Beware if you choose this practice since you will probably have to have the work redone at considerable expense! read more

Nothing but good things to say about staff and Dr. Valenti. They are awesome! Had to have crown replaced and there was no pain at all. Same day crowns in office. I was out in 2 hours. Very convenient for people that have to take time off from work. read more

Very professional, if you're the type who hates to go to the dentist this is the place you want to go.

I absolutely would NEVER recommend this doctor or practice to anybody. Their hook is to get you to come free for an examination and x-rays and then the doctor wants you to tell him why you're there. There seems to be only one correct answer - to get your teeth to be healthy or problems corrected at whatever cost that may be - be it $30,000 or more - but the attitude is harsh and uncompromising. You are sent home with "homework" - that being the decision to empty every account or obtain as much borrowed money as you can lay your hands on. If you don't commit immediately to this, you are treated with sarcasm and disdain and dismissed as a waste of the doctor's time. I have felt traumatized and literally sickened by the treatment I received and I had to literally beg to find out what the problems were I needed to deal with. I got up and left and will never return with their creepy, almost religious attitude to commitment to treatment and giving them money. Don't walk - run from this practice and Dr. Thompson. read more
