Candidate #3, Kathie Allen, listened to my dilemma and graciously agreed to see me right away. I found her, and her assistant, to be professional, knowledgeable, friendly and caring. She did a full assessment, with X-rays, and removed my molar with minor discomfort (NO pain). Thanks to both of them, I will be sleeping soundly tonight for the first time in over a week. I had a root canal nerve extraction done really fast. It took just 20 minutes which is a result of great knowledge, experience, and precision work. I contacted them early Saturday morning for an emergency wisdom tooth extraction. I booked an appointment, arrived in severe pain, and was immediately hit with a non-refundable $275 consultation fee--a fee that was never disclosed in advance and was due regardless of whether they could provide any treatment. To make matters worse, they refused to even look at the X-rays I brought and couldn't give me any kind of quote or plan for the extraction. I had to leave due to personal reasons, still in pain and without answers. Later, in escalating pain, I called again--once at 3 a.m. and again at 8 a.m. on Sunday. Even though they advertise as a 24/7 emergency dental service, the operator (who I believe is also the doctor or owner) was visibly annoyed that I dared to call in the middle of the night. He literally complained about me calling during an emergency, telling me my situation didn't qualify as one and insisting I wait until Tuesday--two days later--to be seen. I had to argue just to be heard, as he repeatedly dismissed my condition and told me I was "wasting their time." The lack of compassion was staggering. I was treated more like a nuisance than a patient in crisis. How a medical professional--especially one running a so-called 24/7 emergency clinic--can be so dismissive and even offended by someone seeking urgent care is beyond me. I later discovered that Waterside Dental is in-network with my insurance (Aetna). So, I should have paid only what Aetna's contract with Waterside allows. I have been trying since then to get the refund due to me. After repeated attempts, I filed a grievance through Aetna, who said I should receive a refund of $226 from Waterside according to their contract. Jodie, Office Manager at Waterside, informed Aetna refund would be forthcoming in January, but to date no refund. After numerous phone calls and promises, no refund has been received and it's been nearly 3 months. I cannot recommend doing business with this unscrupulous enterprise.
