I've been here twice and I've had the roast duck laksa, the sweet and sour pork, the special fried rice, and the eggplant. Surprisingly for a place called Noodle Star, the Laksa is just OK. Everything else though, is pretty tasty and can be purchased for $12 or less. The fried rice is on the expensive side though. Definitely a local type place with cheap and tasty Chinese food, worth a visit if that's the food you want and don't/can't venture out to Chinatown. Everything is self serve.

The decor was classically Chinese and modern at the same time. On the traditional side, they had roasted ducks hanging off a rack, yet the interior was so beautifully and tastefully decorated that it didn't feel tacky or old-fashioned in an offensive way. The food was spot on. We ordered the following: 1. Kang-pao chicken 2. Bamboo, woodear and celery stir fry - this dish was punched with flavor, had great umami, my only complaint was that the bamboo shoots were a bit tough 3. Hot pot stuffed tofu with pork and shrimp in abalone sauce - this was a WINNER! This dish felt like home. It was so comforting and the flavors and textures were in perfect harmony. This dish was served hot which I loved since Sydney is still in winter. It was a perfect dish and the concept worked well. Once we were, our server was awesome (I wish I remembered her name). But let's talk food. The oysters and Ora King Salmon were fantastic. We also ordered prawns, a certain beef order (I forget the exact names) as well as the special fried rice. Everything hit -- including the drinks. They offer takeaway containers for $2-$3 in a variety of options like chicken cashew with rice , chilli beef noodles, sweet sour pork with rice. They aren't the healthiest but when your after something so cheap you got to drop those high standards. They got a deli counter too and offer great wraps and rolls of your choice or the standard pork or chicken rolls which are really good for only $4. When I come here I tend to opt for the pork roll with extra chilli and an egg. Yum yum. Rice paper rolls are another good option here that I like. Available in chicken, prawn or Tofu with plum sauce. They sell juices too but haven't tried those out yet. Next time in Bondi Junction and want to save your money for the Westfield then this place is your new best friend.

We dined in the upstairs portion of the restaurant ( which is tucked in a multi use building ). Service was friendly and attentive. Food was absolutely delicious. Fresh seafood. Fresh veggies. Portions were decent sized. They do have some pricing quirks to be aware of: There is a minimum spend per person and I believe it varies with party size. They charge a 10% surcharge on Sundays. Not sure if this standard in other restaurants but I doubt it. I'm mentioning it so diners on Sunday are aware. I liked the food enough that I just chalked it up to a vacation u expected expense.
