Scammers. The woman tried to scam me acting like I did not hand her a $50 and that I handed her a $20 while she was giving me my change. Additionally, I have been here about 4 times and they always charge you $5-$20 extra of what the food actually costs which I have never said anything about but it is just wrong. I really had high hopes for this seemingly popular take-out spot on the busy avenue, but my lunch sit-in meal fell flat. How does one mess up fried rice?!? Sadly, the meal looked delicious, but the tastes were just off, even for an American Chinese food place. The pork fried rice was totally lacking in any kind of flavor; very bland and just unpleasant tasting even. I'm not sure if it was the oil they used to cook, or the rice was old, something was not 100%. The chicken and broccoli staple had minimum chicken and enough broccoli to choke a horse. Again, I wasn't in love. I was surprised to see that the wonton soup that came with the meal did have some pieces of shredded pork in the broth. Something you don't see all too often anymore. Would I come back? Maybe, but I'd have to have someone else pay for me. read more

Their food is average for the neighborhood, the wonton soup is ok but their pork is very fatty. The egg roll is also a bit too greasy for my liking. It's a good palce to pick up food if you are in a hurry, but i very much prefer Fortune Cookie just a couple of blocks away. They have a bigger variety and the food is a little better quality. Don't be scared to eat here, prices are very good and they have good lunch specials but there is better in the immediate area. read more

Food buyers beware! We usually order from New King Garden 7910 13 Avenue. I'm not sure if they went out of business or not but the location is closed and the number goes to Taste of China at 7801 13 Avenue. We continued to order because the female on the phone stated they moved to Taste of China location. Awful and disgusting! The ribs were burnt, the pork fried rice was under cooked, the chicken and broccoli taste like it was made in the toilet, and I could keep going. I moved from the neighborhood but came back just to eat from our original location. I wish I could have drove back just to dump it at their door. read more

Taste of China is a small take out restaurant. Nothing special about this place, just your typical Chinese take-out. However, I do think that the service is pretty decent, so I'll bump it up by half a star, 3.5. The food is average for Dyker Heights. It's an acceptable place to take out some Chinese food, but it could be better. Like Louis said a bit over three years ago, there is a pretty decent Chinese restaurant called Fortune Cookie not too far away. It is larger, has a more decent variety, and similar quality and good service. The thing about Taste of China is the food, it simply could be better. But to match up for that, the prices are pretty affordable, not overpriced whatsoever. Again, I would much prefer Fortune Cookie, but this place is quite acceptable. Nothing very good about it, though. Just your typical take-out. The food is almost never bad, but it isn't something to behold, either. Don't let my opinions prevent you from eating here. It's good if you don't have a choice, great service. It simply just could be better, but you really should try it yourself and see if you like it or not. read more

Nothing really special about this place. Your typical Chinese take-out food. The selections are normally really well cooked as I have never been disappointed in anything I have eaten here. They do have a decent amount of seating if you wanted to stay but I always do delivery. Prices aren't half bad either. read more

Just moving to the Dyker Heights area and found this gem! Love their lunch specials, especially the Kung Pao Chicken and Chicken and Broccoli. The 4 times I've ordered they let me add spiciness and also, per my request, did not put green peas in my fried rice. I brought extra for my office holiday party and everyone loved! Takeout is convenient and very COVID compliant. So happy to have found my perfect go-to Chinese restaurant in my new neighborhood!! read more

So far best Chinese take-out in Dyker Heights. They are so close to my house which is a plus. The Chinese food is fresh, hot and reasonable. I usually order the Hun-an Shrimp, which comes with a flavorful brown sauce with mushrooms, baby corn, bamboo shoots, water chestnuts, peppers, broccoli, carrots, black beans and of course large shrimp. I get mine with brown rice which is a couple cents more, but worth it. I have also had the lomein, which is a classic. The soups are good too, the House Special soup is awesome as well as the Hot n Sour, Wonton and Wonton Egg Drop mix. The only complaint, No credit cards and no Fortune cookies. Have you ever been to a Chinese restaurant and gotten NO fortune cookies? Weird for me, but guess I can live without the fortune. The best chinese food on 13th avenue as far as i am concerned. I like how the whole family works in here. The kids are always inside working hard on their home work and the parents working hard in the kitchen. I love the chicken dumplings! Ordered today with my husband and both our combos were terrible,NO taste, very bland and dry, didnt even give any duck sauce or soy sauce in the bag which really made it even worse. We were always a Fortune Cookie family, until they received a bad rating from the health inspector, which grossed us out. We gave Taste of China a try, and have been sooo happy! I've been ordering from this place for many years and the food has been OK until today. I ordered the General Tso's Lunch Special and it was horrible. There was no chicken in some and the others had maybe a strip of either dark meat or a piece of fat. It was disgusting! Also the eggroll that came with the lunch special was hollow. Hardly and vegetables. I called and spoke to the lady that took my order and she just kept pretending that she didn't know why it's like that. Apparently they're cutting corners.
