We chose Aroma on Bryant as an anniversary dinner restaurant this year. We had booked a table for the patio and were told it wasn't ready when we arrived and were ushered toward the bar which was packed but had two seats for us. After ordering our drinks we were told our table was ready but that we had to pay our bar tab separately which was rather annoying. The food however was quite lovely. We ordered several special seasonal vegetable dishes: tomatoes with ricotta, beautiful beets, wild mushrooms. All very delicious. Because of all of the delicious vegetables I opted to order a pizza assuming I'd take most of it home which I did. My husband couldn't resist the short rib and let me devour more of the veg to save room for it. I'm pretty sure he still took some home and had it for breakfast the next morning. The drinks were very nice and artfully presented. Judging from how slammed the bar area was they must always do a great job with cocktails here. Will come again. Highly suggest you try any local seasonal vegetable dishes as they will be stunning fresh and delicious. The wood fired pizza was also very good and is a very reasonably priced option to share for dinner paired with a small dish. Another very good restaurant to keep in rotation. read more

Tucked in to the downtown city streets of Buffalo is this hidden gem of an Italian restaurant! I had never been here and was pleasantly surprised! The food was so delicious and so fresh I had a hard time choosing what to get! I ended up ordering the homemade rigatoni! It was phenomenal! I also got the focaccia bread with different dipping sauces for a starter which was a delicious as well! My husband ordered a wood fired pizza which was amazing and large enough to bring home leftovers! We had a private banquet room and the service was great despite it being a busy Friday evening! Came here with a large group for NYE and had a blast. The food was absolutely delicious and service was great. Our waiter was very attentive. I had the penne arome which was very good. Our table also got the short rib which was very tender. For appetizers we had the artichoke francese, calamari, and focaccia bread. All great choices. I started with the lemoncello spritz which was very refreshing. The waiter told us the meat was hand butchered by the chef himself that week which was pretty neat. Everything was very fresh. My boyfriend surprised me by taking me here on our valentines dinner date. The staff was lovely, incredibly attentive, glass never got below half full. For valentine's day, we were sat perfectly, with room around us, yet the room was filled with lingering conversations and laughter. It was the perfect atmosphere for date night conversations, philosophical conversation, and of course gossip. The bread was phenomenal, incredibly fresh. We both got their hand crafted pasta and it was TO DIE FOR!! we both left RAVINGGG about it. for dessert we had vanilla icecream with what was supposed to be espresso. unfortunately their espresso machine was receiving maintence, our waiter was incredibly enthusiastic and encouraged us to get coffee, and it was DELICIOUS!! Our server was the same person we had last time we came as this same group and did a fantastic job of taking exceptional care of everyone. It was about 4:30 on a Monday afternoon. Dining options tend to slim this day of the week, but Aroma on Bryant was open and patio season ready!! First off, I've never been here, and there is literally no reason why I hadn't. When you first walk in, there is a very nice size bar, and I was immediately greeted by the hostess. I would possibly describe the atomsphere as chic. I could easily see myself as hosting a birthday dinner here, having a drink after work, date night ....or like I did that day solo on the patio. One of the things I love when going out to eat is a knowledgeable waiter. Due to this being my first time I here, I had tons of questions. Every question was answered above and beyond. Now most important....the food!! Calamari had the perfect amount of spice and amount. The pasta was tasty and fresh...loved the amount of cheese on top!! This has to be one of my favorite Creme Brule, the whipped cream tastes homemade!! Lastly, lemoncello was so refreshing for such a perfect day!! read more

We had drinks at the bar that were unique and tasty! I loved the refreshing limoncella drink that was made from prosecco and fresh lemon We had a party of six so there were many dishes ordered. All of them were delicious and housemade... the serving sizes were not overly generous for the price, but they were very flavorful and well presented. Our server was not overly attentive to our table... we rarely saw her... We ordered the calamari appetizer plate... it was lightly breaded and served with a light sweet sauce. Very good... the bread that was served to the table was excellent... the foccacia had a crisp outer crust and chewy interior... it was beautiful! We did have to pay for the bread... they don't give bread to each table, had to be ordered. A ravioli dish was ordered and was excellent... it did need some extra parmesan cheese to make it perfect... The shortrib rigatoni bolonese was served in a pasta bowl and had meaty flavor with a very nice sauce. It also needed a shredding of parmesan as did all the pasta dishes... we had to flag someone down to get this... The halibut was thick and flaky, served on a bed of cous cous and was fresh and cooked perfectly... The lamb chops were served with a green pesto sauce and came on a bed of cous cous as well with some raisins and carrots mixed in. Very tender and cooked perfectly to medium... Another table mate ordered the spaghetti and thought it was very good, generous portion and was completely satisfied The desserts we ordered were the house made doughnut holes with the dipping sauces, Creme Brule, and a cannoli... the cannoli was the winner of the desserts with a crisp shell, generous filling that was neither too sweet nor soggy... there were slivered almonds on one end and chocolate curls on the other with additional dollops of cannoli filling on the plate Yum,yum!!! As my family and I waltzed in, I felt as if I was back in NYC 'back in the day'! Where neighborhood restaurants were frequented by many locals and was still bustling mid-evening! We were quickly and graciously received and brought to our table. We started with the Fried Calamari and Pork Bellies (me trying to be healthier!). My wife and I had an amazing evening at Aroma on Bryant last week and I don't know how we have missed this place for so long. We honestly only chose it because it was one of the few places open on Mondays, but we will certainly go back any day of the week. This restaurant is a hidden gem, tucked back in a beautiful neighborhood of Allentown. Low lighting, and beautifully engaging art gave it a modern feel that managed to be both slightly upscale yet still held a cozy vibe. Our waiter was attentive, and quick to refill glasses or clear plates, but we never felt pressured or rushed. Each course was ordered separately and consumed at a leisurely pace. It felt more like an evening out than just a grabbing a meal. We started with an appetizer of the chilled ricotta with peaches and pine nuts. This was really unlike anything we've had in a while, delicious and surprisingly refreshing on a warm night. For dinner I had the stuffed tomahawk pork chop which exceeded every expectation for both flavor and tenderness. My wife had the lobster ravioli which was melt-in-your-mouth amazing. We both took turns eating off both plates and neither of us could decide which entree was better. For dessert we had the tiramisu, and sadly this was the only miss of the evening for us, as there was very little flavor, and it was a bit dry, but still not terrible. Next time we've just decided we will try the creme brûlée as it looked amazing. Aroma on Bryant is definitely going into our rotation of Buffalo's best date night restaurants! read more

I was here with my boyfriend, his parents, and his sister for a family dinner on a Saturday night. The atmosphere was great. I liked the pops of color from the modern art on the walls. It was also festive with some pops of holiday decorations around. We had many bottles of wine, which were good. For starters we went with the calamari, which was very good and the breading was light, which I enjoyed, the bread basket, house made ricotta, which was incredible, and insalata Caesar, which was good. Who doesn't like grilled romaine? For my entree, I went with the roasted half chicken. I normally don't order chicken out, unless it is wings, but the server recommended it. She doesn't normally recommend chicken, but she recommended this chicken, and I know why. This is incredible. Although this is an Italian restaurant, the chicken was Asian inspired and so so so good. The spices and the honey mixed together created this amazing hot chicken vibe. It was also served with green beans and potatoes. I highly enjoyed this dish. Everyone seemed to like what they ordered. Who knew that some of the best Italian fare in the city could be tucked away on a corner in the Elmwood Village? I'm not a huge fan of Italian by any means -- it takes a lot for me to feel blown away by a plate of pasta. But my boyfriend loves it, and we decided to try Aroma out for a belated Valentine's dinner. The service was excellent, our waiter was very prompt and professional. Our food came out in a timely fashion and I've gotta add on bonus points for ambience. The restaurant was cozy and beautifully decorated, and the music they were playing was fantastic. We started with the bread basket -- a nice assortment of focaccia and some standard Italian bread. I ordered the spaghetti pomodoro for my meal and I couldn't have loved it more. The meatballs it came with were so flavorful, so much depth of flavor. The sauce was very light despite being a tomato base. My boyfriend opted for the lobster ravioli and he loved his too. I am definitely coming back here. And I suggest you do, too. For a date night, celebratory dinner, or simply because it's Friday. read more

A very disappointing meal that most definitely would not have been worth it had it not been for the gift card we had. We started with two cocktails (cupid shuffles $13/per drink) that kinda had a very stomach bile-vomitty taste. Next, we ordered the fried calamari appetizer ($16). This was undeniably the highlight of the meal. The texture was perfect and the honey sauce drizzled on top was to die for! I ordered the penne aroma ($26) and Bruce ordered the ribeye ($48). The penne was pretty good, the sauce and pork were sweet and the mushrooms were amazing. Only complaint was the ratio of pasta; it felt seriously drowned by the sausage and mushrooms. The ribeye was a bit underdone even for medium-rare. The sauce on top was also extremely overwhelming and took away from the meat. Service was also not very attentive. Appetizer plate wasn't taken away and waters were left unfilled. All in all, probably would not come back. read more

I ate here on several occasions years ago and was particularly fond of Aroma. I especially fondly recall a great rabbit ragu. After a meal today, those days seem long gone. I stepped in at 5 for an early dinner and I ordered two appetizers and a pasta dish. The first app was a duck liver pate with apples and a cinnamon spiced sauce. Thise components were all quite good, but they were served with crackers that were both chewy and impossibly gritty. They could have peeled my enamel off. The second app was a roasted bone marrow dish with crackers. Now, I know my way around marrow bones and have eaten Henderson's iconic version at St. John in London. This version was appallingly mishandled. The chef cooked the bones to the point where the marrow melts away. There was no marrow served, but he sent it out anyway. It was two bones, some crackers and a garnish SERVED ON A SERVICE NAPKIN. My pasta dish was a lamb ragu, but there was clearly a heavy beef contribution and the homemade pasta it was served with was chewy and not rolled thin enough. I wish I had not stopped in and preserved my memories. The bar server was, however, kind and efficient. read more

The pasta here is perfect and the pizza was delicious. We tried the funghi and the Beef on Weck. So good! Patrick tossing the dough right in front of us was dinner time entertainment!! You can sit at the pizza bar for a more casual experience or in the dining room for an elegant dinner. Located in Williamsville not far from the Main St 290 exit, it i 20 minutes from just about anywhere in WNY. This has become our new favorite place. read more

Oh man, one of the best dinners I've had in quite some time. Started off as a beautiful night near Elmwood Ave.. My wife and I had a reservation on the patio. It was a delightful atmosphere. Our server was very kind. Solid beer options. I recommend the Troeggs Dreamweaver. A nice light Belgian beer for a summer night. I wasn't thrilled with the apps. We got a bread plate which was great but I would've been OK without it. Or simply give me a free small loaf of bread before dinner. And as great as the ricotta spread was I would've preferred it for dessert. But holy cow were the main courses incredible. The lobster ravioli was exquisite and substantial. I was too hungry to take a pic. The zeppelis for dessert hit the spot too. I was spooning out the jelly, cream and chocolate they came with. It started pouring rain and the staff was very accommodating to help keep us dry. Our server did go MIA when we were done with our food. I've got places to be once the food and drink are gone. We booked a reservation, and were immediately seated upon arrival. Excellent server, who was attentive and informative about popular dishes at the restaurant. Our appetizer (not pictured) was absolutely spot on and would go back again for that alone. Dinner was great, I did feel like my pasta (with the scallops) were a smidgen over cooked but the scallops were perfectly cooked. My date agreed that he enjoyed his pasta as well, and said it was fine. Our only negative takeaway was that there was a mix up in understanding about sparkling water (at first he said there wasn't sparking water available, and then there was). Called for a reservation on a Sunday evening and proceeded to the restaurant, they were seating both in the restaurant and on the patio. Since it was ninety degrees we opted to sit inside. They were moderately busy and promptly gave us menus and took our drink order. The staff was friendly and attentive , although one staffer was only partially wearing his mask. I came here last night with one of my best friends. It was my first time here and I really enjoyed the experience. We were going to have a drink at the bar but after mentioning possibly sitting on the patio, the bartender said we have patio seating available. Their current hours are Monday through Thursday 5:00-9:00pm and Friday and Saturday 5:00-10:00pm. (They used to do a Sunday brunch but are open Mondays instead currently.) We got there at 5:10pm and were greeted warmly when we were about to walk up the stairs to come inside. I'm not sure if that was the owner or not. There were a few people at the bar seated with drinks, when we came in. Around the corner, all of the seating was open, and so was the outside back/covered patio that we were seated at. The hostess was very kind and friendly. She brought us water and welcomed us warmly, when I said it was my first time there. My friend and I didn't have reservations but I would suggest them if you'd like to be seated at 5:45pm or later and anytime on the weekend. We looked through the menu and decided to split a bottle of Chianti, the meatball appetizer, and the verde pizza. My friend loves their pizzas and after perusing the menu, I realized that I needed one of their pizzas. The verde pizza had grilled chicken, pesto, mushrooms, peppers, fontina and Asiago. It was pricy at $18 but it was totally worth it. The chicken, pesto and mushroom combination was delicious. The meatballs were good and the Chianti was perfect. Bread isn't automatically brought out for you. It's offered as an appetizer for $6, which was disappointing. I didn't order that because we were getting enough bread with our pizza order. We split an espresso martini before we left. Our server's name was Terry. He was very professional and kind. He came over often enough to see if we were enjoying our dishes and to refill our water and Chianti. By the time we left, he had at least seven tables and was doing great with them all. The decor here is classy and cool. The food menu is fantastic as is the alcohol selection. I had a great time here last night and can't wait to return to try more of their food menu and either more wine or one of their cocktails. read more

I had been wanting to try this place for awhile and was hoping for a bit of a better experience than I had tonight. The good: the Cesar salad served with optional white anchovies was excellent! The not so good - the waiter while very friendly was overworked with too many tables which made him not as attentive as he could/should have been. The prices are way too high for what you get. The pizza was lacking any kind of real flavor - it was almost bland, and the eggplant parm was good but not great - especially for the price. We did enjoy a flourless chocolate cake for dessert that my friends and I split (we dug in before a picture was taken - oops!) was very tasty - it came with raspberry purée and whipped cream - it was warm and just enough bite of sweet. On a personal note - they serve rabbit - I will not be back mostly because of this ( and the high prices). I have two pet rabbits and do not condone them used as food - they're friends, not food. This evening was my first visit to Trattoria Aroma and I left the visit a bit mixed. We came for a reservation at 8pm and were seated on the patio. It took awhile to get our drink order in but no big deal. Next we tried for a bit to track down our waiter to put in our appetizer and drink order. Our table shared a pizza as an appetizer which did come out of the kitchen in a reasonable time. Really nothing super special about the pizza. Very simple. Well past 9:30pm there was no sign of our entrees and our other appetizers including a salad. There was no explanation from the server as to what was taking so long. We could barely see or flag down our server to ask him what was the hold up. At around 9:45pm we finally got our salad and seafood appetizer. The clock ticked past 10pm and I ended up cancelling my entree because it didn't want to eat heavy entree this late when I had to work at 6:30am. At first there was no explanation as to what the delay was. The rest of the table got their entrees after 10:15pm. The waiter did end up remediating and offered to give me my dinner to-go at no charge. I told him please charge me and I was so sorry but I really couldn't pack down some pasta this late. They also let us light a candle on a cookie cake my friend brought for my fiancé's birthday. In the end the waiter apologized for the slowness but I wish he would've just said something earlier in the dinner because of course I know things happen. The food overall was very nicely done and put together. I can't complain at all about the taste! Given the slow kitchen coupled although coupled with some tasty dishes, maybe I will be back to try but would be hesitant and wouldn't come too hungry! read more

Ok, so I picked this place because of the terrible, most recent review, because I wanted to assess the truth of the one star rating. And here is what I found: A cute little place, first off. Small, so go at 7pm and get seated without a wait. Parking can be a little off-putting but the food quality is worth it. While I may agree that there are some restaurant management issues (things are a little off the cuff), I met one of the owners and he is the real deal. Warm and friendly, he is genuinely glad to see you there, and the food is genuine too. The Vongole was delicious, done in the Emilia-Romagna style, which means tagliatelle. Someone in his family took the time to get this recipe right, and I imagine that's the case for everything from the kitchen. I wanted to eat every dish I saw go by and the pizzas look amazing too! Plate size, hand made, real oven. And the wine list is stacked with Italian heavy hitters. So listen, don't hesitate to try the place - I'm confident that like me, you will not be disappointed. If there is anything I'd say the place lacks, it's an offering of Caponata on the menu. But that's really a Sicilian dish and this is clearly a place built on Roman fare, so it's not a fair ask. We were celebrating a birthday with family and were very excited to dine at Aroma on Bryant for this event. The atmosphere was wonderful, and our server, Leonora, was top notch. However, my Braised Beef Pasta dish was disappointing. The pasta was delicious, but the beef was fatty and greasy. I was very surprised at the quality of the meat. Would I go again? Absolutely, because everyone else at the table was more than satisfied with their meals. I would just try something else next time. read more

I use to live within walking distance from Aroma. This place has helped me to celebrate numerous milestone occasions, and for that, I am thankful. It's one of those local Italian spots that you can always count on. Every time I come back, I remember why I've always loved it in the first place. The cocktails are always consistent & delicious. And when they have the pork belly, don't skip a beat, because it's not a regular menu item. The lobster dishes are always some of my favorites as well as anything with short rib. I just love seeing the severs interact with their regular customers. That's always a really nice thing to see when dining out. I will always have a great love for Aroma. I'm sure you will too!
