Finally got around to trying our new(ish) neighborhood restaurant, and, all in all, it was good but not spectacular. Nice laid-back atmosphere that's a wee bit fancier than other places in town, but by no means stuffy or super dressed up. We ordered the caprese salad for appetizer, which was really delicious with the sourdough bread& butter. For main courses, I went for à la carte grilled shrimp, which were average, like what I'd make at home. The loaded smashed potatoes side was fantastic. My husband ordered a ribeye steak, cooked medium, but what he got ranged across the cut of meat from medium-rare parts to bits that were very rare indeed. He couldn't even eat about half of it. The server was really great and apologetic, and comped our desserts. I ordered the key lime pie, he got creme brûlée. We will probably go back, but we certainly weren't blown away. read more

My wife and I have each lived in South Austin a long time, but just began exploring the lovely drinks and eats in Buda. On a whim, we dropped into this gem of a restaurant and were pleasantly surprised. The indoor seating was packed on a random Wednesday night, so we decided to sit outside, where we had a lovely candlelight dinner with heaters. The service was amazing and the food was delish! I had the Chicken Fried Ribeye and subbed in the Baked Shells and Cheese in place of the Mashed Potatoes (at the staff's suggestion) and was in heaven. I could taste the actual ribeye beneath the flavorful breading. And those shells and cheese...damn! My wife had the Gnocchi Primavera which was also top notch from the one bite I had. This is now going into our regular date night rotation and intend to sit outside for as long as the Texas weather allows. read more

Wow! Love, love, love this place!!! Walking in, I noticed a subtle old school elegant dining vibe. The very first thing I tasted was the Holy Spirits Old Fashion. It was so freaking amazing!! Our waiter, Jack, told us they make the best Old Fashions in the state of Texas. He is right!! Next was the house made sourdough bread which comes with two different butters. One was regular whipped butter. The other was paprika butter!!! The favor packed a punch without being too spicy! Totally unexpected flavor!! The shrimp cocktail were large and super fresh with the perfect cocktail sauce which was an accompaniment rather than overpowering. Now, there were two of us that did not want anything too spicy and our waiter really guided us as what to expect from certain dishes. I wanted the Blackened Redfish but was afraid of the spice! Another one of us was afraid it might be too sweet based on the other flavors. We both loved it. In this place, I wanted to order dishes just as they were described on the menu. No substitutions because I could tell they created and prepared everything with purpose. The Heirloom Tomatoes were on point! Yummy!! No room for dessert but I am sure they were fantastic. Our waiter really helped set the mood tonight. He paid attention to every detail without us really noticing until we looked back over the evening. I have favorite restaurants but this one is way and far above all others. I rate only one other restaurant as high as this. The only bad thing is that we don't live in Buda. Absolutely fantastic! For appetizers we ordered the oysters, crab cake, daily ceviche and home made bread with bone marrow and foie gras butter. Our mains were the lobster roll, filet with fries and linguini with shrimp. We completely over ate, but it was so worth it. Service was fantastic, food was amazing and great quality. And the food... the real reason you're here. You have to get the Steak Sliders as an appetizer. I could've eaten 20 of those. The Brussels sprouts were some of the best I've ever had too. Had an 8 Oz. Filet and the date had the Bolognese. Both were spectacular. For dessert, we were told to try the pound cake. It did not disappoint. Not the right cut for a CFS, and everything on the plate needed salt- this dish specifically is way over priced for bland, and boring food. Great quality meat wasted on this preparation, IMO. But that sandwich hits just right! Perfect bread, perfect meat and the spreads on there are next level epic! Wife loved the fish & chips (these are just regular fries, sadly would prefer actual proper Brit chips on this plate.) She also loved the oysters on offer. the frozen Irish coffee drink is great. Brussels sprouts were tasty but ultimately kinda greasy and cold - I love this veg usually, but we didn't even eat half the portion. My recommendation - go for brunch, get the Philly and breakfast potatoes, because the fries are mid. PRICEY - $100+ for two on a Sunday brunch with only one boozy drink. read more

I was in Kyle on business and came across this Gem of a restaurant. It is very intimate on the inside but has a very nice patio area outside. I went here several times. So I will give you information from all of my visit. Let's start with the service. Our waiters each visits was pleasant and well informed on the various specialty items being offered. They have a different ceviche every other week I think as I was able to try 2 different ones during my six week stay. My favorite dish was the chicken fried ribeye. This is a most try if you love a good chicken fried anything. The appetizers were all great also. Now I had one of the best versions of a Mule drink here. This place is good for dates, friends and business dinners. I only live an hour away and will make the trip to see what specials will be available as they like to change some items on the menu every week. Go and check them out! read more

Edit: The Owner has reached out and offered an apology. This company is filled with good people through and through. My fish tacos were excellent, the fries were very good. And the manager was very accommodating to the problems we experienced. As for why this is a three star review, the service was extremely slow, considering that it was not even 50% full. Our waitress asked us if we were ready to order food and we said we needed a moment and we did not see her for another 20 minutes. We placed an order for the lobster bisque, a burger, and the fish tacos. About 30 minutes later, we had seen nothing of our food or our server. When he walked by, I asked the manager if he could check. Five seconds later all of our food comes out. It was apparent that the food had been sitting at the front because our lobster bisque was ice cold. I had asked the manager to send it back, and he was very apologetic and nice. The burger was average and fish taco was excellent. It is a shame it took so long for all of it to come out. Overall, I think there are some good items on the menu but it is a more expensive restaurant in the area. Certainly too expensive to have such slow service. read more

So fresh and tender! The "Buda" baisse is such a balanced flavor and delicious . Better than any bouillabaisse I've had in Texas. The tuna tostados were very flavorful.... Blown away by it all! Impeccable service, fantastic food and the setting was idealistic, even down to the bathrooms. Which is a feat considering they had only opened 2 weeks prior. You can tell they have put plenty of thought into even the finest details like the matching ramekin and mini silverware for the oysters and the tampons in the women's bathroom. I honestly don't understand the other reviews complaining about pricing as this was one of the most reasonably priced upscale meals we've had in months (and we frequent similar restaurants in Buda, San Marcos, and Wimberly). Every single dish was amazing. Well balanced flavors, good portion sizes (not too big, not too small), and beautifully plated. The ambiance out back at the "tree house" was also spectacular.
