Loved the open dining room and bar setup. Service started slow but was friendly throughout. We split the chicken fried steak -- huge portion, great flavor, but the meat was a bit tough. The all‑you‑can‑eat sides were tasty, though I passed on the green beans. The Hill Country Sliders were a fun mix of chicken, pork, and beef. A couple service misses (no side refills, no water refill), but nothing major. Overall, great southern comfort food and a cozy family vibe. read more

We went back tonight and sat outside with a friend. The food was good but the service was terrible. Took a half hour for my friend's old fashioned to get to him. The waitress also didn't realize they had drink specials going on (it was Friday so $5 espresso martinis were advertised on their website). It took awhile for us to get biscuits. I wanted to take home my huge salad so I asked for a to go box but that never came. Even when the waitress came back to bring the check, she still didn't give me a box. By that point we were all just irritated and wanted to go home. Bottom line, service is still pretty bad. Like the concept; food and execution need some work. For Salt Lick owner Scott Roberts this restaurant is an ode to his Grandmother. You'll find similar cues from his BBQ restaurant in Driftwood. All you can eat sides aka known as "family style". Except, we were barely offered anything past the first serving. Servers should be proactive in offering refills. For this visit, we had to ask for more. Creamed corn was fine. Excellent green beans! Didn't get to try the mashed taters so next trip. Biscuits with provided butter and two honey options were flavorful and warm. Wife had the fried chicken; she liked it. Friend had the chicken tenders with "secret" sauce. I opted for the chicken fried steak. Crisp batter and meat was tender. Cream gravy was a big let down. Not even remotely thick; runny in fact. We met some friends at Roxie's for a surprise birthday dinner. The venue is beautiful. It has an open, modern look with homey decor. I swear my grandma and tia had the same chairs in their respective dining rooms. The service Gina (I believe was her name) offered was friendly and very accommodating. She was methodical and, as far as I knew, she had the orders on point. Almost as soon as I sat down, a basket of fluffy warm biscuits and butter was placed in front of me. I slathered on some butter and yum! That's an amuse bouche! Most people at our table ordered the dinner experience. This is where you select a main dish and with that you get neverending sides of corn, green beans, mashed potatoes, and gravy. The sides weren't really my jam, so I ordered a salad with grilled chicken and lemon vinaigrette. The salad was massive, fresh, and well dressed. Not a wilted veggie in site. The pickled onions were *chef's kiss.* The chicken was seasoned well, but a tad on the dry side. I did like the dressing a lot. It was nice and tangy. I did have a bite of the chicken tender and wished I ordered tenders on my salad instead. Those were delicious, crispy, and moist. It was a nice afternoon so I thought I would take a drive to Roxie's. As I read from the reviews, it was loud. I made my way to the bar to watch some NCAA hoops. The bartender Carley, found me my channel and took my order. She was lovely and kind. I was offered complimentary biscuits which arrived warm and with a little side of butter. The menu all sounded great. She let me order a burger from the kid's menu as I wasn't that hungry after I stuffed my face with biscuits! LOL The burger was great and so were the fries. I would definitely come back here again. They have a nice patio. My sweet, one-of-a-kind, dog was named Roxie. She crossed the rainbow bridge last year so I had to come check this place out. From Chicago, first time at Roxie's tonight. Here are some thoughts: -This is a really cool concept! Old mill with super high ceilings and huge window on one side, but the kitchen doesn't quite deliver. -We ordered the fried chicken dinner for two. Includes biscuits and 3 sides (green beans, mashed potatoes, and cream corn) all you can eat. -The chicken was ok, a little bland. The mashed potatoes were good. My wife enjoyed the green beans. And the corn was my favorite. -The service was very good. I think 3 different waitresses served our table. Good teamwork. Always felt someone was asking how we're doing. A+ Lots of people. Stopped by Roxie's, a Salt Lick family restaurant known for family recipes and southern traditions. The restaurant opened recently and I have been waiting in anticipation to give it a try. The parking lot was full and found a spot in the back. When we arrived, we checked in with the hosts and were informed it would be around 35 minute wait for a party of 3. They took my cell phone number and I could monitor our place on the waitlist on the Toast app and I received a text when the table was ready. The restaurant has an open floor plan with a bar area and large open dining area. We were seated at a table in the main dining area. It took over 5 minutes before a person came to acknowledge us, but overs all the service was attentive and friendly. Started our meal with a few cocktails, I had the Mezcalita with mezcal and some watermelon juice which was very refreshing. I asked for a glass with tajin and they brought me a whole new cocktail. Also tried the peach old fashioned. For our entree, we had the chicken fried steak, 1/2 lb. tender top sirloin, biscuit-breaded and fried until crisp, served with a side of our creamy country gravy. You can split the entree for a $10 up charge and it comes with all-you-can-eat green beans, mashed potatoes, creamed corn, and biscuits. The portions were so large. Overall the steak was very flavorful but the meat was a bit tough and chewy and could have used more tenderizing. The sides were all tasty although the green beans were a bit too salty and I love salt. Another person in our party had the hill county sliders that comes with 3 juicy sliders served on house-baked slider buns: fried chicken with pickles and secret sauce, pork with blackberry bacon jam, and the beef "360" with rajas and queso. Experienced a few small service issues. We did not receive our refill of mashed potatoes, creamed corn and gravy as requested. Also a water refill was mentioned and I never received the refill. Overall, this was a great experience and enjoyed the southern recipes and down home family vibe. Honestly it's 3.5 but not close to 4. It's a gorgeous and welcoming place that feels upscale but not pretentious. The staff is still quite new and it shows. Lots of nerves and miscommunication. I ordered a margarita and it was their first order of the day and the machine wasn't ready which is totally fine but 3 different people came to tell me this so they hadn't communicated it amongst themselves. I appreciate they wanted me to know there'd be a wait which was also fine, but they need to talk to each other. The food was the part that was most underwhelming. My friend and I both had burgers and we also ordered chile queso fries as an appetizer. The fries were lukewarm because the green chile and pico de gallo had been dumped on top and it made the cheese cold. They need better plating and maybe the green chile should go in the queso. The burgers are 1/2lb by weight but they are small in diameter, just a bit larger than a slider (for locals, think P. Terry's sized burger). They also were lukewarm. The meat was overcooked, all the edges of the patties were more burnt than crisp. The patties also lacked flavor and the chile wasn't spicy at all so it just added cold texture. At $18 it was just missing pizzaz and the plating was not enticing and it just felt uninspiring. It made me sad because from the menu it sounded incredible and I love a good burger. The sauce that was supposed to come on it was not noticeable, though what seemed like house made ketchup was good. The server did bring us a basket of biscuits about 3/4 of the way through the meal. I think they are supposed to come out as a teaser while you wait but somehow we didn't get any until later. Honestly, the biscuits were the best part of the meal. Overall, Roxie's looks beautiful and the staff is very kind, but the menu and food presentation needs some improvement and just....more. To start off, Roxie's has only been opened for 4 days in its soft launched and there is already a buzz about it. The place opens at 11:00am and we arrived close to 11:15am, received quick service and great seating. By 12pm the place was packed! The servers were all very helpful - shout out to Ashley (red head) for helping my wife and I pick from the menu! The place is new so it's clean and has a cool farmhouse inside of an industrial space look. It works. The food was delicious. Get the Fried Chicken because it comes with 3 sides of unlimited refills, and 5 pieces of chicken. You can almost just split that with someone else. The biscuit didn't look like much but tasted like manna from Heaven (especially once butter and honey were added). My wife got the Bologna sandwich, which was simple yet tasty, and the French fries were seasoned well, but probably the most average thing we ordered. I gave a 4 star rating, only because of a mix in communication and having to ask about food or condiments multiple times (I get it, everything is still new and kinks are being worked out). Finally a change of scenery that Mains Street needs. Came in excited to try this new Southern comfort spot. The ambiance is warm and welcoming, and the repurposed bar from the previous restaurant? Honestly, very well done--clean, thoughtful, and inviting. I did my homework beforehand, trying to figure out what their signature dishes were and what sets them apart. And here's where I'll be gently honest: the side dishes absolutely stole the show. The green beans, cream of corn, and mashed potatoes were packed with flavor--comfort food done right. 360 burger, packed with flavor. The fried chicken, though... while beautifully crispy, super flat on flavor. And with fried chicken being such a focal point, you can usually tell when a place has that seasoning--that unmistakable something that makes it theirs. This one, unfortunately, had none. Not even a hint. No seasoning love at all. Essentially chicken fried in a batter. Maybe an off day?? It's ahright...a little overhyped. We went for brunch. Service was nice. Cool vibe to the place. Comfortable decor. Bloody Mary's are on point. Order her "spicy!" Fried. They offer not fried food but mostly it's fried. With gravy. The chicken tenders were pretty bland. CFS as well. Baked chicken was just okay. Sides (all you can eat) are good. Really liked the green beans. Honestly, the best thing we had was the wedge salad - easily shareable for 4. Not sure the tomatoes on it were "heirloom" but it was tasty. First and foremost the service is good our server Andrea was on point she made sure we had everything we needed and checked in on us often. They put the UT basketball game on for us as well. First of all I need to see the kitchen staff because their has to be someone's Granny in there putting all of her love in that food! Omg EVERYTHING was so good, well seasoned and enormous portions! The service is fast, efficient and attentive, and the unlimited sides just keep coming. There is a bar area, but we didn't utilize it. If you don't mind a "cafeteria-like" ambiance, this is the place for you. The cavernous like architecture however, created too much noise for my liking. Had to try Roxie's when I found out that this new Southern-style fried chicken restaurant was created by Salt Lick BBQ owner Scott Roberts, and named after his grandma. We visited on a busy Friday night. I called ahead but they are not taking reservations yet, although I was told they will take reservations in the future. We had some trouble parking in the shared lot off Main St., but found a spot after circling a few times. We checked in around 6:15 and were quoted an hour wait time for two people, although it ended up being more like 1.5 hours. The chicken was worth the wait. But, before I get ahead of myself -- our server was friendly and attentive, and immediately brought warm biscuits and creamy butter to our table. We started with the pimento cheese, which had good flavor with a texture on the creamier side. However, the crudités and crackers were underwhelming for $11. Our plate included two Ritz crackers, three Saltines, three Pepperidge Farm Harvest Wheat crackers, and a few slices of veggies. I love a homemade lemonade so ordered Roxie's fresh-squeezed lemonade, which was the perfect blend of sweet-sour although a little more diluted than it should be. My friend tried the Caesar salad with added grilled chicken and we fell in love with the biscuit croutons, although it was missing the grilled lemon and could have used a few more pieces of chicken for the amount of romaine. I ordered the fried chicken off of "The Experience" menu, which came with unlimited green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy, creamed corn, and biscuits. You can share plates under "The Experience" section for an extra $10, although I'd recommend just ordering another item. The fried chicken might be my new favorite in the Austin area -- the batter was so crunchy yet hid moist chicken underneath and was not too salty. The portion sizes really are no joke -- the fried chicken entree includes a proper half chicken which I dare any one person to finish. The sides were also fantastic. The green beans were fresh and cooked perfectly, with small slices of bacon, tomato, and onion in them. The mashed potatoes were buttery and creamy, the creamed corn sweet, and each table had plenty of hot sauce, Mike's hot honey, and normal honey to drizzle on the biscuits. All in all, a great restaurant for Southern homestyle fare. One weird thing -- I noticed in the bathroom that the Dial hand soap seemed super diluted, which I didn't love. But Roxie's food was delicious, service friendly, and the all-in country themed decor adorable. Once they better nail down their wait times and open up reservations, it will be great. It's been open for just a few weeks, and when we heard that our FAVORITE bartender Charlie B. is now at Roxies we had to check it out. One of the reasons we love Charlie so much is his passion for where he works and how he describes the menu. Being a new restaurant there are always a few kinks to work out but the food and service was excellent. We stopped in on a busy Friday and the place was packed. Host was very responsive and we didn't have a long wait at all. The food...yum! Homestyle, comfort food served family style. I travel around the country and have had some delicious food in the south but this chicken reminds me of my grandmothers. Delicious! Our server Beau made the night. What a great personality, made recommendations off the menu, and was attentive despite having several large parties. He treated us like we were the only customers in the restaurant and went above and beyond from the moment we were seated. I appreciated the soft bun and the fact that the sandwich was a normal serving side, not a huge portion. The brisket ends burger looked amazing as well as the Caesar salad with grilled chicken. Service was fine. That's where the good evening ended. Two appetizers -- deviled eggs and pimiento cheese - tasted like nothing our foursome ever had before. Seems like there were some odd ingredients in both. We thought those were supposed to be southern comfort foods, yet there was nothing comfortable about unfamiliar tastes in some of your foods. Comfort foods should be kept simple. Fried bologna sandwich had too much junk piled on top of the bologna, overwhelming the taste of the bologna. More bologna and less junk would've been much better. Also, fried bologna is usually sautéed in butter and onions, giving the onions a chance to caramelize. There was no hint of any of that in the sandwich. Fried chicken was very good, and even better the next day cold. Thank goodness you did not go overboard with the breading. Of the side dishes, green beans were very good, mashed potatoes were nothing special, and the runny corn tasted like it just came out of a can. Biscuits are pretty good, but I much prefer warm rolls or small loaf of bread for the table. We were there a full week after your initial opening. You were out of at least three of the main entrées listed on your menu. We were seated at 5:30 in the evening. Certainly not worth mentioning in a formal review, but if we run into that again, I will bring it up. I understand the kinks need to be worked out, so it may be a month or more before we return. But, for crying out loud, at the prices you charge for five deviled eggs, they should at least taste like deviled eggs. And you might consider putting cushions on your seats. They seriously need a "bar menu." Unless you order a burger or a sandwich, everything else is "family style." I get the concept & it's great for families or large groups gathering together. The service was kind, and the waitress messed up our order, but they were kind enough to comp the food and give us a free dessert. My husband and I ate at Roxie's last Wednesday and found it to be wonderful! The biscuits were amazing as were the deviled eggs!! We sat outside in the courtyard and Eugenia was friendly and helpful! We ordered the jalapeño popper dip, which was tasty, but not spicy (maybe I'll order it with extra jalapeños next time) and had chicken tenders with french fries and green beans. My husband and I were really disappointed after being so excited for the opening for months. After placing our order, the fried chicken came out almost immediately, which was concerning. We visited Roxie's over the weekend. I'm glad we got a seat at the full-service bar because I would've been even more disappointed if we had to wait the full 40-minute wait time. The only highlight was the fried chicken. It was very tasty, though I question their definition of a half chicken. I should've guessed they'd get it wrong when I read that the deviled egg appetizer only has 5 halves. Back to the meal...The sides are meh. The simplest one, that being the mashed potatoes, was the best. It might just be a strategic way to keep costs down since the sides are all-you-can-eat. Overall, I don't see the appeal. read more

we went there Friday afternoon and it was not very busy but the people at the front we're very confused over where to sit people. After about 10 minutes waiting, we finally got a table again they weren't busy and they had about 20 empty tables. Once we sat down, our waiter's name was Robbie and he was OK. We had the deviled eggs and they were pretty good. My wife and daughter had the hamburgers and they said that they were excellent. My son had the chicken sandwich and he said it was great. I had the chili cheese dog and it was just OK. For what we got it was very expensive. It was $93. Not sure if we will be back. read more

I am going to be hard on Roxie's for my first visit Sunday, March 8. 2026. The atmosphere is beautiful. The food was good. The service is very much lacking. When I rate a restaurant ,service is a big deal and they are lacking. The food was served rather quickly, nice than after that, I had to get up three time to find my server. More tea, and ice in the glass would be nice. My wife meal was so salty we had to return it, even the manager agreed. She said no charge, nice and would bring over some more green beans. After a long bit, I had to get up again to find some help. I believe service after the sale is always important. I would recommend take care of the tables you have just served to be sure of everything. Always check back after a few, for which was never done. Yes after I got up three times. The food is home cooked, and I believe everyone should give it a try. K read more
